Indesign 15.1.2 user here.
Abnormally while im working in big sized files in indesign, whenever i press my Type Tool shortcut (which is "T") cursor goes to Type tool for a second then goes back to usally selection tool.
When i go and choose the Type tool from left side bar it works.
Im using windows pro 10. Re installed the program for few times.
Saw other threads opened for the same issue but looks like you guys closed time bc it is fixed. But it is not! And it is incredibely time consuming!3 votes -

Tabs in Arabic text move weight declaration to the wrong place
When placing an Arabic weight statement (e.g. "13g") followed by a tab and a percentage (e.g. "19%"), the weight declaration ("g" or "mg") moves to the percentage when exporting to pdf. Only when setting PDFX/1a:2001 is selected the output is correct. But this setting removes all layers and flattens transparencies so it's not very useful.
A workaround is to place a space after the tab (so on the left side since this is a right to left language).
See screen shot in attachment. On top = InDesign file, bottom = pdf created from this file using PDFX/4. The top line…3 votesThanks for reporting the issue. We are looking into it

If Paragraph Format uses Shade, only the first line is underlined (instead of all) (Layer Problem!)
Its not a suggestion, its a bug.
Under Indesign 13.1, when e.g. a whole page is styled to have a gray shade behind it, and some paragraphs have to be undelined, then ALWAYS the Line before a hard return does not show the underline, because I suppose a layer problem occurs. Indesign seems to see the text on top, then applies the shade and under that the underlining for the text, which won't be shown then. The descenders are shown normally, since they are on top in the text layer. I have not found a way to tell the…5 votesHi,

Hyperlinks broken over two lines exports incorrectly to PDF
Using InDesign CC 13.0.1, I have some urls in a paragraph that are fairly long so have to break over two lines, e.g.
www.websiteaddress.com/subpage/
pagenameWhen I export to pdf, the link will just link to www.websiteaddress.com/subpage/ and the bit with "pagename" is ignored.
I found similar problems posted online from a few years back and the workaround was to set your hyperlinks using the hyperlinks palette, not just rely on the pdf to detect the links automatically. I've done this manually to my document, but the problem persists. I can get the full link to work behind the first…

[ID-4224413]JPG 300dpi export with horizontal lines
When I export photo albums as JPG with the latest version, some images have horizontal lines. I've had the problem since macOS 10.14. (now catalina) and with older Indesign versions. If I change the size or position of the image, the stripes may disappear. If I use the DPI e.g. set to 301, the lines will also disappear.

can't export tagged pdf
Much time has been spent setting up accessible document in InDesign - added export tagging instructions to paragraph styles, added alt text to all images and figures, anchored images and objects to text, set up reading order using articles. The document will not export to PDF when "create tagged pdf" is selected. Program crashes every time before exporting is complete. Have tried on different computers. Applications are up to date. Have tried exporting from .indd and .idml file types.

Workspace disappearing and not being able to get it back
Sometimes all my right-handed Tools, that I carefully assembled in a workspace i like, disappear, like pages, Colors etc. Although being able to click them in den Window-Menu, nothing appears. The only way to get them back is to change to another workspace and re-create my own workspace piece by piece, which then might last a few weeks before not being able to use them again.
Any ideas what goes wrong here?
What should i check?Kind regards, Thomas

Effects not working correctly
Some of the "effects" (inner glow, outer glow, basic feather, etc.) do not work as they are supposed to. For example, I cannot get the "outer glow" effect to apply only to text, it either applies itself to the whole object or it applies a very faint glow that can hardly be seen and that no amount of adjusting will fix (yes, I know that I have to choose "text" from the drop-down menu and unclick the effect for the "object"). And, just now (11/8/2018, 1:30 pm), I was trying to apply a gradient feather to just…

I work with book interiors. Have been reading about the nightmares designers have had adjusting the margins of text boxes
I am not a cool millennial but I work with book interiors. Have been reading about the nightmares designers have had adjusting the margins of text boxes once there are several hundred pages and changing the master pages doesn't alter the actual position of the text boxes. Can I agree with the comments attached below -- to you Adobe company people -- don't **** off loyal users who were using Adobe before the millenials were born -- PLEASE STOP taking away features!!!!! I have recently updated to ID2021. Am I still going to have this bug -- as I now…

anchored object ignores textwrap of the first line
When anchoring an Object in a text and selecting the object to wrap around the text, the first line ignores this command.
When searching for a solution, i stumbled upon this entry describing the problem.the only solution seems to be to anchor the text in a previous line.
However, I want my textanchor to be on the right spot, so a screenreader can read it correctly - so anchoring it one line above is no option for me.
Is there a fix to this problem?4 votes -
Printing a document with variable fonts garbles them
(I sent test fonts to Josh Hadley at Adobe yesterday, i.e. Aktiv Grotesk VF)
- Select variable font from the menu (e.g. Aktiv Grotesk VF)
- Select world-ready composer
- Select a couple different instances from the drop-down or select an instance via the slider (e.g. Black, Bold, Regular, Light) and set some text in each
- Print the page from InDesign on a PostScript printer
See the attached image. What should happen is that the repeating blocks of text should be set in the different instances you selected in step 3. They are replaced by a random font instead, only the first instance…

Does InDesign plan to update its footnote options so that a single column text can have 2-column footnotes at the bottom?

Kerning (spacing) issue with small caps active
There's an annoying issue with kerning (or in general with characters spacing) on characters without small caps when small caps is active on preceding characters.
This appens randomly on a full text document but seems always with text imported from Word.
The strange thing is that if I deactivate small caps from only a white space before the badly spaced text, the problem disappear. Likewise if I deactivate small caps from preceding word but keep it in the white space before the badly spaced text, the problem disappear again. However if I deactivate small caps from preceding text…1 vote -
Anchored Textframes with Auto adjusting height within a Textfreame
- CC 2018 – 13.1 (Can't update to CC 2019 right now because of Plugins)
- Create a big "master" Text frame
- Create 2 more text frames that auto adjust in height and fill them with lorem ipsum or any text.
- Paste those two text frames into the first created "master" Text frame
- Change the Text in the first Text frame (Add some empty lines or remove text) and see InDesign fail to update.
- Expected result: Should be pretty obvious... InDesign should not fail to update the current view.
- Actual Result: All Textframes are misaligned because InDesign does not update…

Indesign Crashes Every time I Attempt to Change the Font With Arrow Keys
This just started happening this week. Every time I highlight my text, click on the font box, and attempt to cycle through fonts with my up and down arrow keys, Indesign freezes until I have to force it to quit.
