Message about pasting text with endnotes shows up one paste later
Pasting text with endnote(s) does not show a message. You instead get that message the next time you paste an object, even if that object is not a text box containing endnote(s).
There is also a grammar error in the message, where the word "and" should be ", which" — and there is no period at the end of the sentence.
This has been in the last few versions of InDesign. I am using 15.0.1 now.
Reproduce:
- Copy text with endnote(s) to the clipboard
- Paste text into a new thread
- Text pastes properly; a new page is…2 votes -
Type vanishes once edited in text boxes
Following update of OS to Monterey 12.0.1 and using InDesign 2022 17.0.1, opening files that had been previously created, when editing text within text boxes, as soon as I click elsewhere then the text within the box vanishes - as thought there's not enough room for it, when there is.
Sometimes clicking back on it causes it to reappear, sometimes the box just won't return as a visible element.1 vote -

Text formatting is lost when copy and paste a text box on the same page or to another page in the same document
Copy an paste text box, the text formatting is lost in the pasted text box. Reverts to Forte font. Also, cannot change the font in the pasted text box. The font reader will say it is the new chosen font, but the visual of the text is not reflecting the actual font chosen. Have to redraw and rewrite text every time to have the font and formatting desired.

"Suppress Text Wrap When Layer Is Hidden" not working
InDesign CC most current version 18.5
1. Add text frame
2. Add overlapping object
3. Add text wrap to object
4. Set layer option to "Suppress Text Wrap When Layer Is Hidden"
- Expect that text wrap will be suppressed when I hide the object layer that has text wrap applied
- Text wrap is still applied when the object layer is hidden, whether applying the layer option first or last, creating a new document and starting over, or trying each text wrap option1 vote -

text bold italic regular
Cannot easily change text with bold italics and bold regular to non-bold italics and non-bold regular.
- On Windows 7, InDesign 14.0.1 x64:
- In a normal text window, type "regular" in non-bold regular Times New Roman font.
- Then type "italics" in non-bold italic Times New Roman Font.
- Select the entire "regularitalics" phrase.
- Click Ctrl-B. The entire phrase correctly becomes bold.
- Click Ctrl-B again. Expected behavior: The entire phrase should revert back to regular. Actual behavior: Only "italics" reverts back to regular. The "regular" remains bold.

indesign cc 2021 16.0.1 STILL does not preserve styles text formatting
Indesign cc 2021 16.0.1 STILL does not preserve styles text formatting DESPITE being checked in preferences whether being placed from word OR copy pasted from a document that has the formatting and styles (in this case, Apple's Pages having opened a word doc.)
No matter what, it does NOT keep formatting of text being imported/pasted/placed into an open indesign document.
what gives?

23.0.3 Adobe PDF Preset / Transparency Flattener Preset "Convert Text To Outlines" Not Working
In all previous versions of Illustrator and InDesign, when saving a PDF, I have been able to set my PDF settings to convert all text to outlines by checking "Convert All Text To Outlines" in my Adobe PDF preset. Since my recent update to 23.0.3, this feature is no longer working properly. The setting is still an option, however, upon save/export of the PDF, text is not converted to outlines as it previously was.
I have reached out to customer support for this issue and have been informed that this issue is "expected behavior of the software".
How is this…

Pasted text acquires overprint attribute
Copying a number of items from one document to another, all of the text that did not have an outline had its overprint attribute turned on, despite being off in the source file. It was particularly annoying to fix because most of the text was white (Paper swatch), for which the overprint setting is uneditable: I had to turn all the white text to a different colour, uncheck the overprint, then make it white again. (Using InDesign v14.0.2 on Mac OS v10.12.6.)
IMO there should never be a reason to overprint items using the Paper swatch anyway, so this attribute…

Text lag/slow when Documents Folder is present (package)
Since 15.03 there is a Text lag after opening documents that are in a folder that has a Documents folder. This delay has gotten worse in 15.1. If you're working from packaged InDesign folder, try deleting the document fonts folder inside it. Lagging was caused because of a double up in fonts on my computer. This took a month of testing by myelf and IT team to finally figure out!

Text justification algorithm is *really* sloppy.
When the justification is set to "justified," when I add or delete text, text moves down from previous lines, making those earlier lines look really stretched out with huge spaces. This happens constantly. It looks really bad, and there's no logical reason for it.
This happens whether "Hyphenate" is on or off.
Each line of text should always hold as many words as it can hold (without shrinking anything to fit). What happens on any later line should never cause any change in previous lines.
I'm using InDesign v. 19.3 x64 in Windows.
