  2. Background Tasks stuck on "Cancelling"

    I was exporting multiple PDFs that were not exporting properly. When I figured out they were stuck, I manually cancelled the export in "Background Tasks". Both tasks have been "Cancelling" for two days. I cannot close the files nor can I close InDesign.

  3. InDesign to InCopy Layout Malfunction

    My company's graphics department develops scientific posters, and as a writer, I often have to make small adjustments to the text and am only given access to edit through InCopy (using version 14.0.2). This problem does not happen with every poster, but I often find that the whole frame of the poster is shifted when I open the assignments file in InCopy (please see example photos). I'm able to make my edits, but I can't export to a PDF without having the bleed, header, etc. shifted as I see it in InCopy. Our graphics department thinks this is a bug…

  4. Workspace panels not reappearing when exiting and reentering application

    I've noticed lately that my workspace panels are sporadically disappearing when I have a document open and I click out of the document on macOS Mojave and reenter the document shortly after. If I click 'tab', the workspace doesn't reappear. The only way to make it come back is to go to Window/Workspace/Reset [Name for workspace]. Application frame is disabled.

    Currently on macOS 10.14.6
    InDesign CC 2019 14.0.2

  5. Performance: Import documents / style apply

    my MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016) is super slow when importing word documents, search and replace styles or adapting styles. Does it improve when changing to the Mojave system? Or is there a conflict with FontExplorer X Pro. Any suggestions are welcome. I'm suffering…

  7. ID can't import multiple PDF (with multiple pages) into frames placed in master

    InDesign 14.0.2 french
    Windows 10 x64 Pro 1903 - 18362.239

    I need to import 148 PDF with 5 pages into each files.
    I prepare 5 frames into the A-master.
    CTRL+D from the 1st page to select my files.
    For the demo, I use 3 files.

    Only the second PDF is imported.
    All other PDF are visible in Links panel, but with no pages imported.

    If I do an the same import without frames on the A-master, I am able to place 5 pages per ID page. But it's longer, without the same scale, etc.

  9. Paragraph Style won't override

    1. InDesign 2020 (15.0)

    NOTE: I'm a designer with 22 years experience. I know part of this is 'sloppy' formatting on my part. But since switching to InDesign from QuarkXPress 15 years ago, I've never encountered this 'bug' before.

    1. I have a document with multiple 'old' Paragraph Styles. It's a multiple page document. A number of paragraphs have a style applied, but I've overridden them with other formatting.

    The easy but lengthy fix would be to fix the Paragraph Style, but I was on a tight deadline.

  10. custom workspace save overwrites all

    Running ID 15.0 on Mac OS 10.13.6

    I have multiple custom workspaces depending on if I am working at home, the office or remotely.

    Any time I save a workspace, regardless of if it is a new workspace or overwriting an old one, it changes all of my workspaces to the most recent saved version.

    Effectively, I only have one custom workspace now. Any suggestions?

  11. Export as InDesignMarkup (IDML) ignores the color profile

    When exporting an indd-file as an IDML-file we've experienced a problem. In the original file there's an embeded a specific color profile (ISO Coated v2 300% (ECI)).
    If we check the exported idml file we found out that InDesign ignores the specific color profile and resets the profile to it's standard profile (U.S. Web Coated (SWOP)) - which is not the desired profile and not suitable for our european print environment.

    That was the reason of some color problems with some printing stores or agencys we're working with in the past.

  12. InDesign crashes on launch in "PlugPlugOwl.dll"

    InDesign 2019 doesn't open after the first loading box on startup. I downloaded 2018, 2017 and 2015. 2015 is the only one that works at the moment but the others have the same issue.
    My computers processor is Intel Pentium 1.5 GHz
    I've attached the crash report.

    Closing this thread.

    The fix for this issue is now available in the latest update 14.0.2 of InDesign 2019.
    If you are unable to see the update notification yet, open the menu (three dots) from the top-right of Creative Cloud desktop application and click on ‘Check For App Updates’.
    Once the update button is shown against InDesign, click on the button to update to Id 14.0.2.

  13. delete button doesn't work

    Sometimes the delete button on keyboard just quits working for no reason. When I close ID and reopen it with the file again, the delete button is working OK again.

  14. error encountered reading image

    1. InDesign CC 2019 (14.0)
    2. Import large clipped .psd file (~880 mb) into mechanical
    3. Image placed as requested
    4. Error message received suggesting image is corrupt (note: export of InDesign file as idml and opened in 2018 to import image achieves desired result, suggesting image is not corrupt)

  15. InDesign crashes on launch with Faulty module "PMRuntime" unless launched as Administrator or Creative Cloud Application

    Issue: InDesign CC will not open from the Start Menu unless "Run as administrator" is selected. This is not an option for standard users.

    It will open OK from the Creative Cloud Desktop App.

    Event viewer log is generated showing the following:
    Faulting application name: InDesign.exe, version 13.1.0.76
    Faulting module name: PMRuntime.dll, version 5.0.0.191

    Also occurs with version 12.1.0.56
    Windows OS: Windows 10, version 1803 (Build 17134.165)

    Hello All,

    Thank you for patience while we were investigating into the root cause of the issue.
    During our investigation we identified that the issue manifests due to Symentec DLP antivirus software.

    Please find below steps to whitelist the application:
    1. From the Enforce console select System > Agents >Application Monitoring.
    2. Select the application to white list. If it is not listed, click on “add application” and provide at least one of the required application binaries.(Refer to Symentec DLP_Console.png for reference)
    Note: DLP attempts to validate every field populated. We recommend using as few as fields as needed. If the whitelist seems to fail, try changing which required field is populated or removing one of the other fields.
    3. Uncheck all of the detection channels under the “Application Monitoring Configuration.”
    4. Click on save and verify the application in the list of monitoring activities is unchecked.

    Ich arbeite an einem Buch mit vielen Abschnitten, einzelne davon wurden in CS6 bearbeitet und dann brauchte ich CC für die weitere Arbeit. Da in den Voreinstellungen für CC das Wörterbuch "Duden" und "Duden tolerant" empfohlen wird, stellte ich dies entsprechend ein. Unter CS6 war nur "Hunspell" oder "Proximity" möglich. Ich wollte aber weiter dasselbe "Benutzerwörterbuch" verwenden, da ich viele Fachwörter und Eigennamen etc. verwende, die nicht im Duden sind.     1. Switch to InDesign from another program
    2. Select either Selection Tool or Direct Select tool
    3. Double click on the text to place a cursor among the text
    4. Double click again to select a word

    Expected result: quick action from step to step

    Lag in InDesign 14.0.1 when doing ANYTHING. Every time I click my mouse, make a move, do a single thing there is a 20-40 second LAG. This is beyond annoying. I am on a very tight deadline just like 99% of your other users. YOU NEED TO FIGURE THIS OUT ADOBE!!!!! And don't you dare tell me it's been figured out. I'm starting a new post per your request on March 26, 2019. FIX THIS PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

    Thank you for your support all this while. The issue is now fixed in the latest update of InDesign.
    Please upgrade to the new InDesign 14.0 from your Creative Cloud Application.

    If you are unable to see the update yet, click on the menu (three dots) on the top right corner of Creative cloud app and click on “Check for App Updates”.
