1. update to v24

   For as long as I can remember, dating back to the early single-digit versions of Adobe products, it was advised to make separate backups of user settings that were often found in obscure directories on a user's own computer. I dared to trust Adobe this time around, hoping that the update to version 24 of InDesign and its option to delete old versions, would respect the user settings that I so painfully put together. FAIL. Adobe failed to maintain them and deleted them from existence. Adobe should be putting a disclaimer on their update process to prompt users of all levels to backup their user settings and provide a link to where these obscure files are normally found. The "gotcha" or "pie-in-the-face" is not appreciated.

2. Accepting PDF Comments does not insert the comments, only deletes the text

   ID 18.5 PC

   Importing PDF comments of the text replacement type (strikethrough), although it deletes the existing text, but does not insert the text of the comment in its place.

3. Indesign 2024 Unable to Recognize Variable Fonts from Documents Created with Previous Version

   InDesign 2024 (v19.0) fails to recognize variable fonts from documents created in previous version. Specifically, Helvetica Now Variable weights and widths are reported as missing. Running MacOS Sonoma (but the same system opens the file without issue when using InDesign 2023… can’t be an OS issue.)

4. Text wrap should work normally with anchored objects

   Just make text wrap on an anchored object work exactly as it does when you have a seperate object. Not sure what the point is of having it ignore the text wrap for objects above the line it's anchored to. I can always tell it to ignore if that's what I want.

5. .svg library assets are not supported anymore at version 19.3

   Elements from the library with the .svg file format are no longer supported in version 19.3. In Illustrator the assates still works.

6. critical display problems! please fix it!

   New version from 19.0–19.3 causes terrible display/view problems! See the attached screenshot (actions: opened an indd file, zoom in, zoom out...).
   Fix it please, it's unusable in this state!
   Older version 18.5.2 works normally on the same machine!

8. Library assets missing in InDesign 2024 v19.3 but visible in Creative Cloud

   Many assets that i've made and added into my libraries that we use for production are now missing for me in InDesign, v19.3, although they are still present in the Creative Cloud app, and my coworker using the same library but on InDesign v19.1 does not have this issue so far.

   Both of us are on the latest version of MacOs, v14.4.

10. Small implied movement when selecting elements

    I have an issue with the latest versions of InDesign.
    Whenever I select any element/object/text/images etc inside my Page or any pages, there is a delay in the selection with a tiny registered displacement of the selected object by one or 2 pixels.

    My only solution to fix it is to Cmd+z to invert the latest action that resulted from it. I didn't have that issue a month ago and it is very disruptive, could say that it is anti-productive. I am running Indesign on the latest version of Mac OS sonoma on a M1 max machine. The problem occurs in any situation (trackpad, inboard screen, second display, external mouse etc)

11. Auto-Sizing of text frames results in abnormally long widths

    InDesign 2023 v18.1 (Probably occurs in all versions after CS6)
    Japanese Version
    English Version
    Mac snd Windows

    There is a terrible bug in Auto-Sizing for text frames that causes the width to become unusually long.

    Simple and reliable reproduction procedure

    1. Create a new document
    2. Set all units to points in Preferences
    3. Create a new text frame
    4. Set paragraph style to “Basic Paragraph” and clear overrides
    5. Set Auto-Sizing
       -->Change to “Height and Width” --> Click the upper left corner -->Turn on “No Line Breaks”
    6. Insert Spacing to 1 pt
    7. Corner Options to 1 pt and Round
    8. Enter “0 [Line Break]” repeatedly (about 20 times) in the text frame

    Workaround

    Set Columns
    -->Change to “Flexible Width”
    -->Set Maximum to a very large value (like 1000 pt)

12. On the start page, the recent items are showing up with multiple file names displaying over the top of one another

    When I open InDesign and the Start page appears, the first line of recent items show the image of the file but the description underneath shows several layers of file names on top of each other.

13. Apple M2 max GPU not detected

    I have a mac studio with M2 Max and indesign doesn't recognize the graphics card. The zoom gets in the way when I need to make the pages bigger or smaller.

15. Adding words to Thai User Dictionary does not add whole word recognition

    In Thai, you can add a word with or without hyphenation to the Thai language User Dictionary and that word does not become recognized as a whole word. If you double click on the word, it will still only highlight parts of the word that it recognizes as forming a word (leaving the rest of the added word not selected).

    This leads to hyphenation problems because if InDesign still sees the word in three parts then it will break the word into those parts without recognizing the need to hyphenate the word.

    So there needs to be a way for us to add whole word recognition to the Thai language processing.

17. QR code clickable

    Hello. I have an idea regarding the InDesign program. It would be great if the generated QR codes in the interactive PDF were clickable. Is it possible to implement this? Currently, I manually assign hyperlinks to each QR code.

18. Montserrat typeface's; semi bold, bold, extra bold & black has issues displaying in Id

    Version 2024 19.0

    When I change the font to Monserrat with one of the mentioned styles most of the glyphs are wrongly presented for example if i choose bold most of the letters seem to be light rather than bold, with a few like 'o' and 'E' displaying as the right style, when they should all be displayed as bold.

19. shortcut presets resets to default

    Several people in our team have the problem.
    That every time we restart InDesign CC23 (18.5) the shortcut set is reset to default. the saved shortcut set is still availlable but we have to select it again.

    We work on MacOS 13.6 with Apple M1 Chips.

20. Pages panel doesn't scroll all the way down

    When the pages panel is filled up vertically with the pages, and when the panel is set to "View Pages > Horizontally," the panel does not scroll all the way to the bottom, and the page numbers of the bottom pages are cut off.

    This is easily reproducible in any new document with reset InDesign preferences.
