  1. show last time saved in closing pop-up

I forget sometimes when the last time I saved a document I have open, and when I go to close it, it asks, Save/Don't Save/Cancel. I wish it said a time stamp of the last time it was saved so I don't have to save it if I already saved it 5 mins ago and didn't really make any worthy changes. Yes I could just look at the file info in the finder, just seems like a simple thing to add to save some time.

  2. Better rounded corner options

It would be great if InDesign could do what HTML / CSS can do with respect to rounding corners:

    1) Allow an object to be completely rounded — a 1" square w/ .5" rounded corners should look like a circle (see attachment). (Referred to here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/InDesign/Incompletely-rounded-corners-in-InDesign/m-p/10659192)
    2) (this is secondary, but would be cool) Allow an object's rounding to be percentage-based, so a 2x1 rectangle w/ 50% rounded corners would look like an oval.

The first is the most useful — being able to have live type inside a pill shape is fairly valuable in all sorts of cases.

  3. Ability to scroll pages behind export windows

When dealing with longer documents, it would be nice to be able to scroll either the pages in the background or (even better) the pages window/tab to look at a range (e.g. when a document is at the end or if there are filler pages that don't need exporting/checking at this stage). People have been requesting this for years.

  4. Please add Chinese language support. A global economy pleads for this.

I need to create bi-lingual content in English and Chinese. The current English language interface does not support this, (though the program could be downloaded with a Chinese language user interface in the Asian region.)

With the global economy we have, the ability for English speaking users to create bi-lingual content with Chinese or Japanese characters is needed.

Such ability is a basic function of most of the software I run.

Adobe is behind the times in this regard.

We look forward to this being addressed in the next update.

  5. Direct Editing of Photoshop Layers in InDesign

    Description:
Currently, users must switch back to Photoshop to edit layer details, masks, or effects before re-importing images into InDesign. This process can be time-consuming and interrupts the creative flow. It would be highly efficient to enable direct editing of Photoshop layers—such as brush adjustments, opacity, blend modes, and layer masks—within InDesign itself, without needing to reopen Photoshop.

    Benefits for Users:

Streamlines the workflow by reducing the need to switch between Photoshop and InDesign
Speeds up the design process, as minor adjustments could be made directly in InDesign
Allows more flexibility in applying last-minute edits and achieving the desired look

  6. Rounded corner table cells

We had some Adobe people here to showcase new features in Creative Cloud. One gentleman was named Jamie Ragen. I asked them if they have any intention to create a feature for rounded corners for table cells. The reason I find this important is that some clients have rounded corner objects as part of their style, and it would be good to match that with their tables. This would create a consistent look. Jamie was kind enough to suggest I bring this up in this forum. I hope this generates some action from Adobe.

  7. Option to group and\or collapse pages

We should be able to group pages and collapse them, for a cleaner more organized flow.

My use case - I'm working on a book (not using the "create book" option since it's exteremly flawed) that has an intro of 50 pages.
I'm done designing those 50 pages, and now I want to "forget" about them and collapse them, so I can focus on other pages, and also get to them quicker without needing to scroll through all those pages.

This could be done by grouping the intro and having the option to collapse it, or by adding the collapse…

  8. Preserve positioning data when pasting graphic from one frame to another

When I copy an image from one frame and paste it into another, I expect this action to preserve two sets of attributes: scaling factor and positioning data.

I get one out of two (scaling).

No offense, but QuarkXPress could do both back in 1990.

Why does this matter? Imagine a layout with a horizontal row of head shots, each in a separate frame of the same shape and size. Client says, "Oh, please move photo 3 to frame 10, and scoot everyone else up one frame."

I don't have to imagine this situation, as I'm currently working on a…

  9. Custom Tagging/Grouping Filter for Fonts

I'm posting this in InDesign, but the implementation may be easier as a Cloud feature so that it would be viable through all the Adobe programs that heavily use font (Photoshop/Illustrator/InCopy/etc.)

I'd love the ability to add custom tags to my fonts that are personalized to my individual account, and the subsequent ability to filter fonts by my tags.

Example: I might tag several fonts that I purchased a license for only a specific client under their name (PrivateCo). I might also tag several different fonts I received from a client to do a marketing campaign for under their name…

  10. Custom Interactive Button Hotspots

I would like the ability to customize the shape of the hotspot that appears on an object given the button function.

For example, if I create an oval and convert it to a button, I would like to apply state changes when I rollover only on the shape of the oval. Currently we're limited to a 0/90 degree container that encompasses the entirety of the object.

I'm unsure if this is a PDF format limitation.

  11. More control with paragraph shading

I would like more control over the space insets in the paragraph shading options. When a long paragraph of text flow on to the next page there is no way to control the spacing above (padding) when we're in the middle of the paragraph and "clip to frame" is checked. It is possible to get away with it if the distance from the top-margin and the first baseline is sufficient, but most of the time I want more space. I think it would be better if the text was forced down to the second baseline if necessary. The end goal…

  12. Publish online Magazine

Publish online needs to be able to tell the difference between spreads and single pages. I publish a magazine using publish online and with the page numbers at the bottom, it looks like it is half as thick as it is. or have an option to take the page numbers off since they are in the magazine and I don't need them on the web page.

It would also be cool if when animating the magazine in InDesign there was a page flip, though I do like the way I do it now because it's different, it would be…

  13. spell check

Spell check in Indesign is not fit for purpose in its current state, it is slow and clunky and gives no indication of where you are when checking a long document, could it not give a list of words like links panel that you can click to go to? At least implement some sort of progress bar and indication of how man words are incorrect/need reviewing. The forwards and backwards button do not help in any way - i'm sure the reason you need the change direction is only because its so slow and clunky that it goes past…

  14. Add option to open current working folder when using "relink" option

    Hello,

can we please have an option to open/search in current working folder (where the .indd is saved) when using relink function, rather than opening previously used links folder.

make it a toggle option for users that prefer its current state

  15. More text formatting controls needed in Buttons & Forms Text Field)

Why are there so few controls for text formatting within the PDF Options panel of the Buttons and Forms panel (e.g. centering text within a Text Field, leading, kerning, Vertical and Horizontal Scaling etc.) than are available in the main InDesign application? Importance: the lack of text control when creating interactive pdf forms in the Buttons and Forms panel means that when text is added to a text fields, the result is a very unprofessional looking result when users type responses into the form.

  16. Add a set of Roman numerals to script fonts.

I design a lot of invitations and it would be nice not to have to manually create them from other typestyles to look pleasing to the eye. This also goes for addressing them as well.

  17. Include Spread Rotation in PDF Export and Publish Online

When exporting/publishing as spreads, allow us to "include spread rotation" and display those properly in the online viewer and PDF export.

I have a calendar layout with most of the spreads rotated for proper viewing. I've always exported as spreads and rotated manually in Acrobat for the client but I can't do that when publishing online.

A simple version of this would apply only when exporting spreads ie: where the result of 2 8x10 pages is a single 16x20 page which is then rotated per the ID view settings.

A truly complete solution would need Acrobat/Reader the ability to show…

  18. Change PDF page number / .ai artboard number without placing the file each time

In a similar sense to the Object Layer Options, it would be awesome if there was a context menu option to switch to a different page number in .pdf and different artboards in .ai files.

This way when inserting a multiple page PDF For example, I can copy the object then go into the context menu and select the next desired page. Currently I spend more time looking through the OS filesystem to place the same PDF again.

  19. Stop resetting the Apps after every update

Every time you update InDesign the Workspace is reset. This is exhausting! I understanding you want to parade any new features, but why does this update have to make me start again with the UI? It's infuriating and only done as a piece of Marketing for Adobe.

Look we love you all OK? You don't need to keep flirting with us, just leave my settings the way they were  you know you can.

  20. Offset path

iD : Fr : Offset path
I found myself stuck by wanting to make a simple offset path inside inDesign. This seems to HAVE to be DONE in Illustrator.
Bad thing about that is that if I have to go back and forth between both, I’ll have to place it correctly, when it should be a simple value in any unit to enter.

Some have explored the need for that as a script :
