1. CUSTOM URLS FOR ADOBE PUBLISH ONLINE BROCHURES

2. After placing a .ai file into a rectangle frame, resizing rectangle frame would resize Artboard in Illustrator

   This should definitely not be default behaviour, but e.g. a checkbox under "show import options" asking to "link artboard size to text frame size, when placing a .ai file, would be nice.

   When opening the fiel in illustrator, a warning dialog coudl appear asking "frame size has been changed in indesign, do you want to change artboard size accordingly?"

   I repeatedly work with layouts and .ai graphics, that need to first be drafted, then layout changed, and after this the graphics slightly refitted to new sizes. Its a bit tedious looking up correct widths and heights for artboards from indesign.

3. OS Specific Features Lacking

   I can respect that you want to keep the CC base code clean of OS specific features, but I HATE subscriptions and I HATE the fact that you make the apps feel like 2nd class citizens on Mac. Two examples:

   1) Full screen windows.
   2) Full Dark Mode support.

   I won't go into details as I am sure that any developer / engineer working on these products on a Mac knows exactly what I am speaking of. There was a time when I truly loved Adobe products and thought it was a fair company. Today with subscriptions and attitude, I'm looking for ways to leave them behind. I no longer recommend Adobe to anyone getting started in graphic arts. Adobe is EVIL.

4. Implement new good functions from photoshop also in InDesign

   It looks like the teams of Photoshop, Indesign an Illustrator are not talking together. New nice functions from photoshop like - closing tabs more easely or gradients that are added to photoshop are not available for InDesign.

   Also shortcuts are different and even the Logo of Photoshop is rounded and the one for Illustrator still cornered. That is only the tip of the iceberg. Also i like to have all programms work together in a easier way for the future

5. Fixing what was not broken?

   Swatches Window:
   There is space at the bottom of the swatches menu to have buttons for the swatch types rather than grouping them into drop down menu. It takes more clicks and mousing around than it did in CS versions...

   Same goes for Rotating spreads. I need to do this often - It used to be in the root of the pages menu, now it's nested under page attributes. Less efficient...
   A drop menu at the bottom of the pages window might make sense for this feature?

   New CC Libraries menu... it looks nicer I guess but now I have to click back and then click the Library when before I simply clicked a drop down... less efficient!

6. merging cells in a table

   I am trying to create a 9x12 horizontal postcard with 4 vertical columns and 5 horizontal rows. Then I merge cells to create different size ad boxes. By the time I get to the last merge, it pulls everything up and looks like it is adding another row at the bottom. For example: merge the whole bottom row into one ad box; merge the right column 4 boxes into one ad box; merge the left 3 boxes beginning from the top into one ad box; merge the center 6 boxes into one large ad box. So, there should be a total of 7 ad boxes. InDesign is making it into 8 ad boxes with the additional one at the bottom. How do I avoid this? I have tried it with a different merge pattern and it continues to do the same thing.

7. Apply gabarits with conditions

   Hello, after a long research, I notice that there is no possibility to apply gabarits according to rules (presence of text, grep, presence of image, percentage of filled text block, presence of style, etc.) to specific pages (on the first/last page, between some pages, grep-like operation, etc.). This could be done by giving several templates to a page and giving rules to choose which one to apply (with an option to choose the pages dynamically).
   For my part, I'm desperately looking for a dynamic and automated way to hide the folio/page number when it's an empty (no text) or almost empty page. This is the case for pages before chapters (1 or 2 pages). This could be one of the many applications of this feature

8. Toggle to turn off cursor frames and highlighted text when testing colors/fonts/strokes

   Note: I'm still on Indesign 2019, so I don't know if this feature has already been added. If not, then:

   Whenever I want to test different stroke colors on a picture with a border, I have to select it, which shows as cursor frame on top of the stroke (even in preview mode). Problem with this is that if the stroke is 1 or 2 points, it's hard to see the colors you're choosing because the cursor covers the stroke. So I would have to select the frame, change the color, de-select the frame to see how the stroke looks, then select it again to test another color, etc.

   Same with text, if you want to change the color /font of a word or paragraph you've already written, you have to highlight the text to be able to make changes to it. Unfortunately, when highlighted, it's impossible to see the real colors you are choosing.

   For that reason, I'm requesting a toggle to be able to turn off the cursor frame and highlighting for when someone wants to test different colors.

   I know I could use the text editor to circumvent the highlighter part, but that's not a user-friendly option for something that could easily be a toggle.

9. User Interface Ideas for newbies

   hello
   I think a good change for newer users is to make it to where the user interface is more user-friendly. I don't mean the whole app I just mean certain things. For example, one thing would be, is to make the options panels easier to stick. I didn't know that you had to drag the box to one side of the screen to get it to stick to the app. It took me the whole day to figure this out, otherwise, when you move the InDesign app to another screen those panels get left behind. So either have a little help box when moving the tabs called "sticking problem?" and have a small explanation or have the light blue sticking indicator be triggered inches before you reach the edge of the screen and obviously, you'll have to test it out though.

   Put the "paragraph style" tab default on the paragraph tab. It's not there when I installed it, so I had to highlight something and in the properties and then I had to click the down arrow and click manage styles and poof there it was.

   Another fix is to keep the options bar at the top when under the essential workspace. I would watch tutorials where they had this at the top and would this couldn't figure out how to make it work. An hour later I found a video that told me how to fix it. I'm new to this app but it would make sense that the essential workspace having it and the classic essentials would not but they are a switch. just add the option to the essential workspace that would be my fix. I'm sure there are more improvements but I haven't run into them yet
   finally put on all your app, an ok box when either user first installs an or get an updated, stating that there's help for the user. And it would say instead of going to google or youtube that there are adobe cloud tutorials ready to go just for the user. :D. I didn't know this until I called customer support to help me with an issue.

10. Defining areas and automating rotation of those areas.

    I publish a paper that has content down the middle and 16- 2x3 ads in frames on the sides.(8 ads on left and 8 on right). Same goes for the opposite side of the paper. I rotate the ads each week so my clients get exposure all over the paper. I publish in several areas so I am manually rotating these ads each week and it takes a lot of time. It would be a HUGE time saver if I could automate this function based on my preset parameters. At the click of a button the ads all move to their new locations. Even if it got them close but I still had to nudge them to their precise spot....just the action of them moving to the new area would literally save me a ton of time. I am a new user trying to move all of my files from QuarkXpress 8. So far I am very impressed with I am learning and how many things ID can do that QE cannot. Thank you for consideration.     The quick color change for a text field should change the cointaining text color instead. The text box color control can rely on a button for selection of itself that then changes interaction of quick color controls. ****, put it in place of the OpenType button that is pretty useless to many (I for one ONLY click it accidentaly and it makes me crazy, but that's another ticket).

    It's incredibly impressive how simple and intuitive this should be. The logic... This is extremely valuable to me because since text inside InDesign irreversably ceases to be editable once Ctrl+Shift+O (Outline Txt) - and I want to avoid that - that means it's impossible to quick edit text color for multiple boxes unless with styles etc, adding extra clicks to quick sketches of ideas. b

    So that means InDesign expects selection of text inside of each and every text box, or editing of each style individually (Yes, each style, because it's impossible to have a style that only changes color, so you need to change color for texts that are the same size, font etc, at a time if you wanna do via styles). or Ctrl+I with individual clicking per text box. What's the logic in that?????

    In order to change multiple text colors at once, it's imperative that either there's turning back from outline (like Illustrator), or simply make follow the first paragraph solution to where to put the useless change the color of this text field that usually doesn't have a standard spacing and defined size and will be invisible in 99% of cases...... It's it not incredibly evident in your data that many users - including me - accepted to submit for free for years how users want to change the color of the text itself more often than the color of the box that contains the text? that box doesn't even respond when the text doesn't fit. The box only gets in the way or becomes alignment. That means, usually like one or two sides of the box are used in layoutting. How often is the fill used???

    I guess what I'm asking for is that my investment be put into something. Because I've been using InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator for a decade now and it has become quite obvious that some features are just kept out of one of the three in order to make another of the three have a what.. ~2% increase in usage? (I'm looking at you, Outline Stroke.) The way some useless aspects of InDesign have accumulated dust and spiderwebs over the years is truly impressive. And do not get me started on how these are badly optimized in Windows... What a waste of such amazing software and IP.

12. CS6 future use

    32-bit CS6 InDesign works with High Sierra, though with some minor irritations. It will not work at all once Mac goes over solely to 64-bit. It is disgraceful that Adobe tries to make one go over to subscription-only CC. I for one, and I am sure I am not the only one, want nothing to do with a cloud-based subscription, with which you lose access to your own work if you stop paying the sub. For this reason, in preparation for the future, I have just bought 64-bit non-subscription QuarkXpress, at a roughly half-price offer for such as InDesign users (I think the offer may have just expired – not sure). Although Quark will obviously take some time to get used to after years with InDesign, at first glance, whatever Quark was in the past, it now looks good and relatively intuitive. Personally, I think there is cause for a class action against Adobe for the way they are holding InDesigners to ransom. I urge Adobe to make it possible for work done with CS6 to be able to be opened in the future, for example when Mac goes over to 64-bit only. Thank you

13. When using Find/Replace, show how many instances were found.

    If I'm trying to find something in a document to modify it slightly, I'll use Find to find it. If there's only two instances of the thing occurring, than I can just quickly manually fix it. If there's 200 instances though, then I know I either need to be more specific in my search or start writing some GREP. The problem is that I have no way of knowing how many times the thing I'm looking for occurs, and if it's a lot I would have to click through "Find Next" an unknown number of times. When replacing items, there is a pop-up that tells me how many items were changed, but it would nice to know that number before I hit "Replace."

    This is also useful in catching mistakes, especially in cases where I made the change in all open documents, realize that my find+replace should not have caused 2,000 replacements, and now have to go into each document and ctrl+z.

    If I have a similar issue in Microsoft Word and use Find, Word shows me in a side panel how many times the thing I searched for occurs in the document, and then I can make decisions on how best to proceed.

    I don't think an entire side panel is necessary, but could you just add a line in the Find+Replace window or a pop-up that says "found 80 times" or whatever? Find+Replace has a pop-up that says how many items were replaced, but it would be helpful if I could know how many things I'm changing before I actually change it. If you think the pop-up would be annoying for every Find, maybe it could be an additional button next to "Find Next", like "Find How Many"? It would also be helpful if this highlighted every instance of the search in the document, but I'd settle for just a "found x times" message.

14. Remove plug in

    I used an add-on module for years that I will not need anymore. Without the current version of this plugin, I can not package the files anymore. Therefore, I would like to permanently remove the plug-in from the file. For that I can not find a solution, except to first create an IDML file.
    I'm looking for a simpler solution, because I have several hundred files that are equipped with the module.
