Proposal for Native Persian Language Engine in Adobe InDesign
Dear Adobe InDesign Team,
I hope this message finds you well.
As a long-time user of Adobe InDesign in the publishing and design industry in Iran, I would like to bring to your attention a significant challenge that many Persian-speaking designers and publishers face when using this powerful software.Adobe InDesign has become the cornerstone of layout and design for books, newspapers, and magazines in Iran. However, despite the availability of the Middle Eastern (ME) version of InDesign, Persian is not natively supported. Instead, the software relies on Arabic language support, which leads to a range of issues…

File handling behaviour
I would like indesign to First, look in its resident (root) folder for fonts and links, then look in subfolders (ie packed folders "fonts" & "Links") and only then, if it cannot locate them, go looking in the folders defined as "original links folder" or "most recent links folder".
I would like this to apply to both opening a file and to saving the file and exporting files (pdf etc)
and if this cannot be a default behavior, then I'l **** it to be an optional behavior. Why?
because when I package a file…1 vote -
Directly create transparency on letters/words in a text frame
Currently it is not possible to define a letter or words within a text frame with a certain percentage of transparency. It is only possible to adjust the Tint. In the Effects Panel, the Transparency options are greyed out (not accessible).
Sometimes in a design you want to create such text effects, which at the moment can only be achieved with a workaround: an anchored text frame which poses several challenges if the transparent text runs over several lines.
Affinity Publisher offers this right out of the box in the current version (2.3.1). Quark Xpress can do this as…

Show cross-reference destination document in the cross-ref panel
I work with a lot of guides and need to use a lot of cross-references in my files. When these files later get used as a base for new files and saved under different names, or content is copy-pasted from one file to another, the cross-references point to the old (wrong) destination. I know you can select a cross-ref and change its destination document from the palette menu, but first you need to know that there is such wrong reference, but it is difficult when the cross-reference colour indicator is green and you think everything is fine. I would love…

In the PDF comment window, a button to delete all resolved comments
In the PDF comment window, a button to delete all resolved comments would be useful, keeping comments that have not yet been resolved.
When it gets too much comment the computer is very slow. And the tool for importing comments is very useful in my case.
Unfortunately, publishers here in Brazil make many amendments to the diagrammed files.

Accessibility isn't anything new and when working in and on any creative industry product or campaign it should be considered from the off.
I've received a Published Online PDF from a director who's sent a 27-page document that I need to read but as a dyslexic, I rely on using the 'speech' accessibility function built into my mac to allow myself to read this at a fast pace to keep on track with work and my colleges.
You Publishing Online PDF documents don't allow the functionality for this to happen as you can't highlight the text within the document, a basic function on the most text on a computer and online. I think this should be looked at and I'm…

Option to replace links with same name but different format
When relinking a file, ID is able to check and relink all other links in a folder. However, I regularly have to use the relink feature to replace .tif dummies with finalized .psd files. The problem is that relink includes the extension of files in the name, so a tickable option to tell ID to change extension according to the first file you click so it then relinks all files with same name but the desired extension instead would save a lot of time.
(Unrelated, but having a corner to drag the typing field when posting ideas would be…

Index Alphabetising Systems
I'm currently producing a book every Bob Dylan song in it for his publisher. It's a huge project and I'm indexing. I've noticed something very odd with InDesign's indexing system, which is that it's only possible to alphabetise letter-by-letter, so if these were song titles, I'd get this (in this order):
I Dream
I'm Asking
I'm Falling
I WinOf course, what I want is word-by-word indexing, which would give me the (correct) following:
I Dream
I Win
I'm Asking
I'm FallingI know I can tweak these entries manually, and I have done but it's laborious and risky.…

Allow a "consolidate" type of packaging that doesn't create new copies
The ability to take the current working document and consolidate copies of links and document fonts around the existing document, rather than create an additional copy of the INDD working file. Using the Package feature for files in progress that are simply being moved between workstations is problematic because you have to remember to delete the "old" version that was just packaged. I would like a way to make 100% sure that everything I need for the existing file is organized within one master folder, without having to embed all the links or manually delete duplicate INDD files.

Improve style panels
Three things that would be amazing for the styles panels (we use a lot of styles, so managing them better would be a huge boon):
1) Snap the current folder you're in to the top of the panel once it scrolls out of view, so it's easy to close the folder you're in once you're done.
2) Include some way of viewing the "based on" hierarchy all at once rather than having to go into a style's properties to see what's contingent on what.
3) Have labelling and filtering as per photoshop's layers panel - so you can find and…

Allow upload of alternative PDF for download
An essential option really, to allow a flat non-animated version of the online publication that's being viewed.
As we all know any level of animation or pop-ups elements will end up on the downloadable PDF version making it almost useless.
Unless anyone knows a workaround?

Multi-relinking with one click
In large projects like catalogues in different languages on own layers, I often have to relink a lot of identical signets (eps) with the appropriate ones in another language on another layer. Sadly it seems to be impossible to do that with one single click. I have to relink every single file separately. The command "Relink all instances …" only works at link folders but not on a group of selected links filtered with the layers in the links panel column. It would be great to relink only a selection of links of the same image with only one…

Restore several links to a Library
Create a function to update the links in the Libraries in the same way as for a local folder.
I had to move my libraries to a new Cloud following a change of plan. All the links no longer work. Even if I give the path to a link, INDD isn't able to restore the other links in the same library as it can in a local folder. I have thousands of links to restore manually!1 vote -
Defining areas and automating rotation of those areas.
I publish a paper that has content down the middle and 16- 2x3 ads in frames on the sides.(8 ads on left and 8 on right). Same goes for the opposite side of the paper. I rotate the ads each week so my clients get exposure all over the paper. I publish in several areas so I am manually rotating these ads each week and it takes a lot of time. It would be a HUGE time saver if I could automate this function based on my preset parameters. At the click of a button the ads all move to…

Custom organization of links panel
Options within Links Panel to sort links not by name/page/location folder, but into custom folders or priority. Allow users to place links at the top that are changed or edited more frequently. Current issue is job requires me to change multiple logo files spread throughout document quickly. If multiple instances are grouped, sorting by layer does not work and layer will also sort by layer name and not top layer. Letting users set priority status to links or create & name custom folders within the links panel can help find things quickly.

Option to save GenAI expanded files in different locations.
I like to save all associated files with individual jobs. It keeps thing together as the company uses a job number system for each Job (like a lot of Design companies in UK).
At the moment, InDesign saves everything in Documents > InDesign GenAI Assets Folder including all alternative AI options. The option to choose where to save the AI files would be great.
Also... 300dpi images would be amazing!

Smarter Link Finding
It would be great if InDesign used a bit of automated searching or AI to search for missing links. InDesign should be able to look for missing links and suggest them if a file with matching file name and metadata exists in the same folder, or set of folders as the working document. It would be fantastic if InDesign kept track of link metadata and automatically compared it to the OS-level indexing (like Spotlight) to automatically suggest the location of a missing link.

Option to "Rasterize All Pages" in EPUB Export
My organization needs the ability to rasterize all pages in a document when exporting to a Fixed Layout EPUB.
InDesign EPUB export currently only supports rasterizing the first page or individual objects. Neither of these are sufficient for our needs. We publish graphic novels with complex, overlapping design elements, and we need the pages to look exactly as they do in regular PNG exports.
Our current workaround is to export PNG's from InDesign, and then use an additional software to assemble the images into an EPUB, which is incredibly time-consuming.

Colorizing folders in paragraph, charakters, table styles
It would be nice if InDesign had the ability to colorize paragraph and character style folders like Photoshop has in layers.
