1. Organize styles (any type: paragraph, character, objects, ...) like a PRO

   How WONDERFULL would be to have the possibility of AUTOMATICALLY order styles. How? I wish InDesign would assign automatic cascading numbering to folders and the paragraph styles that it contains.
   [I've attached an image example.]
   The idea would be that each generated folder would have an automatic number (based on its order in the window): 01, 02, 03, ...; and the paragraph styles within that folder would have that same numbering: 01.00, 02.00, 03.00, ...
   When adding subfolders to the main folder, the numbering would continue: 01.01., 01.02., 01.03, ...; and the styles within those subfolders would also have that numbering.

   I've been doing this manually for years, and having this option automatically would save me hours of work. The best part: if I want to change the order and move a folder up or down every folder and number within will change automatically too.

   I know it might sound like I'm being obsessive about organization, but it would be a VERY USEFUL tool for keeping styles tidy.

2. Add Anti-Alias Intent to text for graphic export

   As web publishing has been an important part of InDesign since 5.5, it would be extremely helpful if anti-alias intent could be determined, either at a paragraph level or on output. Both Photoshop and Illustrator have this feature, and without it, export jpeg and png for web use is not up to publishing quality.

   Relatedly, when an image is placed in a document at a scale other than 100%, it would be helpful if the downsampling/upsampling intent could similarly be chosen by the user.

   Currently, the only way to produce publishable web materials from InDesign is to export a lossless PDF, open it in Photoshop at 300ppi, and then downsample to 72ppi. It would be much more convenient to export directly from InDesign, but the quality simply isn't up to it without these additional options.

3. The ability to unlink footnote/endnotes from references, thus turning the footnote/endnotes into static notes.

   As a designer who typesets thousands of pages of academic research annually, the ability to convert footnotes to endnotes and vice versa is a helpful addition (thanks InDesign team), but more features are needed:

   Currently this process is accomplished only via the benevolence and magic of Peter Kahrel's script, available here: http://www.kahrel.plus.com/indesign/end_to_static_CC2018.jsx

   The reason being, I can no longer use the InDesign XML tagging feature while the footnote/endnotes remain linked—for some reason, XML tagging of footnote/endnote text is not supported!

   If you'll indulge me, here's a brief overview of my process: Our researchers submit MS Word docs to my department for editing and layout in InDesign. A draft is then circulated, reviewed, final edits are made, and then the whitepaper is published. Part of our publication process involves tagging and exporting tagged XML from within InDesign. We then load the XML into our CMS for publication on our website.

   Due to inability to unlink the footnote/endnotes, currently my workflow involves creating a "disposable" copy of the final InDesign document on which I run Peter's script. This unlinks the references—I then run a handful of other scripts to tidy up for XML handoff to the web. Next, I delete the "web" version of the InDesign file with the broken links and keep the original for archival purposes.

   Another helpful instance where the ability to unlink references is when handing off major publications to our web team. I run the "export all stories" script that comes pre-packaged with InDesign and thanks to Peter's script, I'm able to hand over plain or rtf text files of the final text without losing the references.

   This seems like a useful improvement to the endnote/footnote capabilities. Either allow users to unlink the references without losing the footnote/endnotes and references themselves AND/OR integrate XML tagging of footnote/endnotes.

4. Drag an image directly from the links panel to the page.

   There's something i'd LOVE to see in inDesign.

   Imagine, you design a document, with different images, logos, etc. They come from libraries, folders, bridge, you name it.

   Now you realize a logo you used on page 1 needs to replace a logo on page 24. But not ALL logos. And you want to do it visually by dragging and dropping.

   You'd need to copy, paste inside, or use the relink command. And may be need to dig in your CC libraries to find it again.

   Same thing if you'd like to place it somewhere else. You have all your links in the links panel, but you'd still have to link to the original source file or library.

   WHAT IF…

   We could just drag and drop from the links panel to the page.

   I would expect it to be EXACTLY like Drag&Drop from : the Finder, the CC library…

   Being able to fill an empty image frame, to replace an existing image in a frame, to use the frame's adjust settings…

   And of course, it wouldn't affect the previous location of the image (we still don't have "swap items" natively in inDesign).

   Does anybody see this as an interesting feature ?

5. Need Update of Indesign cc2020 with Page Curl transition option

   Indesign cc2020 Page Curl transition is not available because of the removal of Flash. I need the option to create and show off ebooks for our online customers' convenient. But Indesign cc2020 does not have this page transition option. Can we have the Page curl option in the next updates for Adobe Indesign cc2020? Thank you.

6. Enable "relink to CC Library"

   Enable "relink all images to a different CC Library" (relink to CC Library) , like you do on your hard drive (relink to folder)

   I´m creating catalogues where I reuse a lot of images again and again,.
   I copy images from one Library to a new Library.
   Then I want to relink this new Library to a copy of my Indesign document.

   Earlier it was easy to link all images to a different folder, but in CC Librarys it do not work the same way, very frustrating.

   And with the shutting down of synced files folders it’s very important to get this to work, I don't want to relink the images one by one.

   In Indesign interactive PDF buttons set link destination options for opening the url

   like blank page, self etc...just like in html is possible.

   So when you view a interactive PDF online and you click on a link the destination opens in a new window or tab, just like you selected in Indesign. And not only in the window you are viewing.

8. Please make it for ChromeOS

   The only thing I still use computers for is mild browsing when I need a larger screen than my phone, and creating a program once a year for a convention. I don't want to invest $600+ in a laptop just to use InDesign when my Chromebook is more than enough for everything else. Please make it accessible either online or for ChromeOS. It's long overdue.

9. F&C queries stored on server

   In stead of storing the xml files in the user folder, making it possible to store them on a server too and be able to refer to that folder with a shortcut. As for the scripts you could have the "user queries" and the app queries. This is handy when you have to control more then one computer in your department.

10. Preflight warning of unlicensed stock / watermarked images from CC Libraries

    When publishing Preflight could warn of unlicensed stock / watermarked images from CC Libraries that are visible in the document.
    This would help prevent such mistakes from making it into the final published version.

11. Make gifs great again

    • Allow a preview of a live GIF while designing - currently when it is placed into a deck it is static and only reviewable by publishing online.

    • Allow a choice of the GIF thumbnail that becomes the still image when an offline version is downloaded. Currently I'm at the mercy of whatever the very first frame is in the entire GIF sequence.

    • Better yet, make Adobe Reader able to play gifs so the 'offline' version doesn't have to be a compromise of the original intention.

12. Share for Review - Image Quality

    Bring the optimized quality of Share for Review images up to the level of acceptable web-based image optimization at 100% size.

    I understand the need to optimize images for high-performance quick reviews. However, the current setting is far too low. Upgrading the image quality to an acceptable web-image optimization will help reduce feedback loops with concerns from stakeholders over bad image quality.

    In my review workflows using Shared for Review, I am now constantly exporting and sending separate PDFs to reviewers to prove image quality based on concerns from the Share for Review representation.

    Please know that the Share for Review feature is well-received with all my clients and I personally think it is an EXTREMELY valuable addition to InDesign. However, creatives and content publishers are sending documents to all kinds of stakeholders in and outside their teams and organizations for review. Many of those stakeholders do not understand the limitations nor should they be expected to. If I have content in an image that needs to be reviewed, that content needs to be clean, legible and optimized at an acceptable on-screen resolution quality.

    Please increase the resolution to that on-screen standard.

13. Build a better interface between Excel and InDesign

    I publish a magazine monthly. Every month I must identify the changes, update the head shots, and the hyperlinks back to the original page. The files all start in Excel, then export to Word, then move to InDesign tables.

    If we could bring the updates (Head shots, hyperlinks, and text) into an ID table, this would saves us hours of work every month. That would pay for the CC License.

14. TYPEKIT FONTS - same download / deletion timeframe as the apps themselves! offline usage necessary

    WHY? are you tighter and stricter on tiny fonts and more flexible on big apps (i.e. 30 days offline access)?
    HOW? do i use CC apps offline and design text work without FONTS?
    if you can limit access to apps to the end of subscription, and you can limit font access by requiring being online, ergo you can design access to your components anywhere on the timeline between those 2 endpoints. it makes zero sense to be flex on offline app access, then strict and tight on offline typekit font access. cool on the larger and jerks on the smaller? that's totally backwards.

15. Save As location

    Right now the Save As location seems to be the PREVIOUS folder location where I saved a file.
    However, in other programs like Photoshop, the default location goes to the same folder as opened file.
    Consulted help center and got no solution other than rerouting every time I save as a file. PLEASE also make the default Save As location in InDesign to the same location as opened file!! I'm working on like 3 or more projects at the same time and have to reroute the save location all the time! In fact I accidentally overwrote an important working file in another folder because of this!

16. InDesign Review Panel should NOT switch the filter to 'Resolved' when editing text with older resolved comments

    I am often working on documents with multiple review sessions. The problem that occurs since the latest updates of InDesign is that as soon as I put the cursor in a piece of text which previously had a comment attached to it which is resolved, all resolved comments pop up in the comments panel and I cannot see the current comments: all comments are immediately filtered to 'resolved'. Of course I can switch off the filter for resolved comments again, but it switches back again to 'resolved comments' as soon as I start working on the text. This is driving me nuts, because it is not only annoying, it becomes very difficult to work on the unresolved comments and takes up a lot of time. As a work around I now have to open the online document with the current unresolved comments to track down what actually still needs to be resolved. Apparently this is 'as designed', but this is driving designers crazy. Please help!

17. Allow placed Word Documents to map styles within folders

    When placing a word document into indesign using the map styles feature, inDesign will only automatically map to existing styles in the document if they are in the root folder of the styles pane. If styles are in subfolders new styles of the same name are created in the root and I manually have to remove them and relink to the existing ones.

    This is a nightmare when you have a lot of styles to map, as you end up with a messy styles pallette - i'd love to create subfolders for list / headings / footer styles etc :)

18. Proposal for Native Persian Language Engine in Adobe InDesign

    Dear Adobe InDesign Team,

    I hope this message finds you well.
    As a long-time user of Adobe InDesign in the publishing and design industry in Iran, I would like to bring to your attention a significant challenge that many Persian-speaking designers and publishers face when using this powerful software.

    Adobe InDesign has become the cornerstone of layout and design for books, newspapers, and magazines in Iran. However, despite the availability of the Middle Eastern (ME) version of InDesign, Persian is not natively supported. Instead, the software relies on Arabic language support, which leads to a range of issues due to the fundamental differences between the two languages.

    Key Issues Faced by Persian Users:
    Lack of a native Persian text engine: The current reliance on the Arabic engine causes incompatibilities, as Persian includes additional characters such as "پ", "چ", "ژ", and "گ" which are not present in Arabic.

    Different glyph shapes and behavior: Persian text often renders incorrectly or inconsistently due to glyph mismatches or substitutions, requiring manual adjustments.

    Default LTR text boxes: When creating a new text frame, the default direction is left-to-right, which is impractical for RTL languages like Persian. This requires constant manual correction or the use of custom scripts.

    Inefficient workarounds: Designers often resort to JavaScript scripts and time-consuming tweaks just to achieve proper Persian text handling.

    Proposal:
    To address these issues and significantly improve the experience of Persian-speaking users, I respectfully propose the following:

    Develop a native Persian text engine alongside the Arabic one in the ME version of InDesign.

    Automatically enable right-to-left direction when Persian is detected or selected as the document language.

    Provide complete support for Persian glyphs and typography, separate from the Arabic implementation.

    Consider Persian-specific typographic features, such as justification behavior, kashida, and numeral handling.

    This improvement would not only benefit users in Iran but also the wider Persian-speaking community worldwide, including Afghanistan and Tajikistan. 19. A keyboard shortcut that forces InDesign to look within its enclosing folder for links and fonts.

    Currently if you are working with files on a VPN connected server InDesign tries to link to images and fonts on that server. Even if you have the full packaged file on your local drive InDesign still tries to link to to the VPN server. So I would like to see a way of overriding this, and I think a keyboard shortcut to force InDesign to link locally would be a good solution.

20. Batch Export indb

    I would need to have the ability to batch export a folder of books to pdf. The community scripts are not enough—there are features missing.

    Also batch export would have to have
    – auto update links in documents,
    – auto closing and saving (otherwise page numbers are wrong in shared documents).
