1. variable font using no font style after PDF export for fillable form

   When using a variable Font (Acumin from Adobe Fonts) for a text field in a fillable form it isn't using any font style when exported to PDF.

   Static fonts act as expected.

2. wacom display

   I just upgraded to a Wacom 32 tablet and am having this problem only in Indesign. There are random little grey squares all over the page - and not just the file window but the entire "artboard" area. Other apps are not doing this. I've tried zooming in and out, display quality settings, nothing has helped. And it's not an image issue - it's basically a display issue. I have no idea how to fix this and I'm almost rendered unable to do at least 50% of my job as I'm not just an illustrator but a designer too. The monitor otherwise works fine and it seems to be InDesign-specific. See screenshots attached.

3. tiff transparency

   Transparency of TIFF files does not work in InDesgin. The same files worked well in Windows, Photoshop. I have to get around by batch transform TIFFs into PNGs in order to save the transparency. Please fix it.

   The attachment is one of my TIFF files that doesn't work with InDesign only.

4. Custom PDF presets erased after update to CC 2018

   I have several saved PDF presets for different clients. All of them had been deleted after upgrading from CC 2017 to 2018. I first thought they were simply not migrated over, but after opening InDesign CC 2017 I noticed they were gone there also! Only the default presets (High-Quality Print, etc.) were showing up in the drop-down menu. I had to go into my TimeMachine update to restore the files.

   Could you please go to the following location on your system, and check whether your presets are present on your machine or not:
   /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PDF/Settings

   Also, is there any other Adobe application that is installed on your system, like Illustrator? If yes, could you please check if your presets are shown in those applications or not.

5. Excel paste to table fails

   Indesign 15.0.1 for Windows
   Copy multiple cells in two columns from Excel
   In indesign select the corresponding cells and columns in a indesign table
   Paste Excel data in Indesign table.

   Expected behavior: Data will be imported to the table as it is presented in Excel but keep the formatting options from the table in InDesign.

   Actual behavior: Imported Excell data keeps the Excel formats and and additional column is added. Import fails. please see attached screenshots and files.

   Works in Adobe InDesign 14.x for windows and 15.0.1 for MacOS

6. Workspace not being saved

   In 17.4, the workspace is not being saved. You have to go to Windows and pick a workspace in order to do anything. What comes up is nothing, no menu bars at all.

7. ID crashes when call method "createHyperlinkQRCode" on Rectangle from "afterOpen" event handler

   ID 18.1 Windows 10

   I'm trying to develop a script that updates the QR code (creates anew in the same Rectangle ) when the document is opened.

   The Startup Script sets the event handler of the "afterOpen" event, where the "createHyperlinkQRCode" method is called on the found Rectangle object.

   In this case, InDesign crashes with an error
   <crash exception="EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION" exceptionCode="0xc0000005" instruction="0x00007FFD49229914">

   Creating a QR code manually through the main menu does not cause errors. The error does not occur when the script calls the "createHyperlinkQRCode" method on the Document object. But in this case, I have to point with the cursor to the place of inserting the QR code, and this creates an unnecessary waste of time.

   If the script is called from the script panel, it works without errors, which indicates that there are no errors in the script.

   I tried the following layouts (they cause the same error and crash InDesign):
   (1) Preferred option. Call the QR code creation method directly in the "afterOpen" event handler.
   (2) I extended the Rectangle object with an additional method that is called in the "afterOpen" event handler.
   (3) I made a separate script that can be run manually. It works if I run it manually. And crashes if I call this script in the "afterOpen" event handler using doScript().

8. Bugs with Whitespaces in Justification’s Composer when work with Thai language and other issues

   As my report on bug with text wrapping in 2020 version (https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs/suggestions/38998636-bug-with-world-ready-composer-when-use-space-like). Many of issues were fixed, but some still remain.

   Before going to the issue in the title of the post, I want to specify some issue that doesn’t fix form my last report. If you see on the attachment img 02, you will see the issue about text encoding (it just only my suspicion) that happen when you just copy and paste text (specifically in Thai) form 2020 version to 2019 or to another text editor. After I had pasted text into TextEdit (you can find “Copy And Paste Text form Selection Text.txt” in attachment) almost vowels and tone marks were changed into quotation marks that which made me suspicious about text encoding in that language.

   I do not know that this issue has a relative to the issue in question. The white spaces. As you can see in “img 01” in attachment (and on Indesign file) on the text where I high-lighted.
   .
   First, you can see white space play as a character in the beginning of the line, like other white spaces such as thin-space. And you also see, when applied paragraph with Adobe World Ready Composer, either single line and paragraph, spaces other than whitespace that insert form space bar play as character on the end of the line when you apply text justify. In an example I shown to you, en-space did not collapse. It stilled as a character.

   Other than that, you can see the close parenthesis was sole wrapped into the next line, even it should stayed with the last word.

   Nearly half year, after you had claimed that Indesign support Thai, I still cloud’t update into 2020 version because of all these fatal issues.

9. critical error displaying page content

   By default, InDesign sets the display mode using the GPU. After updating the program, a critical error began to occur: when turning pages, part of the page content simply disappears. For example, if you have 30 objects on a spread, at some point 15 of them disappear (purely conditionally, let's call them even), while the odd ones are visible. If you press the display mode switch (the w button), now the even ones appear, and the odd ones disappear. Then, to display ALL objects, you have to switch the display to enhanced view. But on the next spread, everything can change to the opposite: now half of the objects are not displayed in enhanced view, and you need to switch to normal display mode. And then press W again, on the next page part of the object disappeared again And so on in a circle. It seems that the system needs to receive a SWITCH command to display, because one way or another the objects disappear anyway. The only radical solution to this problem: switch to display via the central processor. Then everything works correctly but extremely slowly. My operating system is Windows 10, video card is Nvidia Geforce 2070 with 8 GB of memory.

    I've got an InDesign-file (InDesign 2020) with moved frames (texts) after PDF Export.
    Attached are Screenshots with Guides:

    I tried the workaround with idml-file (no other result) –

11. InDesign 2023 18.0 x64 with too much CPU in idle

    InDesign 2023 18.0 x64 is consuming too much CPU in idle, without any file open.

    System: Windows 10 Pro 2H22 x64, SO 19045.2130, Workstation Dell Precision Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2603 v2 @ 1.80GHz, 16 GB RAM.

12. failed to export

    Myself and 1 other colleague working on windows computer constantly get a 'PDF failed to export' message. Even on brand new small documents. Another colleague working on a Mac is able to export the same documents. We are all running on the same version.

13. Mac OS. The floating windows for Text Wrap, Paragraph, etc. go blank over time.

    Mac OS 14.3.1. InDesign 19.3. The floating windows for Text Wrap, Paragraph, and possibly others go blank over time. The only way to fix it is to quit, and relaunch while deleting preferences. Then preferences have to be redone. This has been happening for several years, over several operating systems, many InDesign versions, and at least two different iMacs.

14. Adding htmlItem then closing document crashes inDesign on Mac

    We are developping a plugin for inDesign and while testing a new feature on a Mac we noticed that sometimes InDesign was crashing. We managed to reproduce this bug in a very simple indesign script that make inDesign crash 100% of the time and I'm looking for a way to get around this inDesign bug.

    The crash occurs when we programatically add an htmlItem to a pageItem then close the document too quicky, It's only on Mac, doing that on windows works perfectly. The crash error seems to be a memory usage problem on inDesign's side.

    Here is the script code :

    other observations :

    -Doing a sourcePageItem.htmlItems[0].remove(); to remove the htmlItem after adding it doesn't change anything, so the problem comes from using the function htmlItems.add() and not having an htmlItem in the document.
    -Delaying the close by using $.sleep(5000) before fix the crash, but we can't rely on it as the delay needed increase with the number of htmlItems added and it might be different from a computer to another due to performances.
    -Saving the document or not doesn't change anything

15. primary text frames threading is not honored on document pages

    1. Adobe InDesign 15.0.1 x64 (Windows 10)
    2. Facing pages document. I create a master page that includes two text frames per page--creating a two column spread on each page. I designate the leftmost frame as the primary text frame, and then manually link it to the frame just to its right. That frame is then linked to the leftmost frame on the right side page, and that one is linked to the frame furthest to the right. So the frames are linked, from left to right: frame 1 is primary, which is linked to frame 2, then to frame 3 (on the other page) and then to frame 4.

    Using the pages panel, I manually insert four pages into my document, assigning the new master page to these pages. The first three text frames are threaded correctly, but then the threading goes completely haywire.

    1. I would expect the new blank pages to replicate the text threading order that I created on my master page.

    2. The text threading goes wacky. I have included an image to demonstrate.

    This seems similar to the problem posted in this Bug report (34661228-based-on-master-pages-don-t-inherit-primary-text-f.html) however on the document pages my text frames ARE threaded, just not threaded in the same manner as they were on my master pages. Plus, I am using a much later version of InDesign than the one that fixed that particular problem.

16. won't open 2020 indd file

    Won't open Indd 2020 files when doubled clicked. Can't make Indd 2021 default program to open InDesign files. Have to open using File > Open menu. All InDesign files have blank white page icons next to them (windows 10). Uninstall/Reinstall doesn't fix problem.

17. InDesign 16.1 menu unclickable. Always shows hour glass cursor on Windows

    Hi,

    Starting today morning I am facing issues in accessing menu items on my InDesign 2021 16.1 on Windows. The application cursor is the wait cursor mode and clicking on any menu item does not have any effect. Even keyboard can't be used to select any menu items. However, I can open a new document using "Create new" button as shown.

    I can't understand what's the issue and how to resolve. FYI, I have InDesign 2015 Release and Debug versions installed on this machine

18. Can't do long math in some Opacity text fields

    This is a very minor bug I ran into. In certain text fields that set an object's Opacity value, the character limit is 5 characters, which is not enough to do certain mathematical operations, like 12.5/2. If the value is a decimal number with two places, no math can be performed at all.

    The 5 character limit applies to the control that appears in the Control panel when selecting an object, and the control that appears in the Effects panel when selecting an object.

    The only field that allows enough characters to perform that operation is the one found in the Effects window, which can be accessed by selecting an object, clicking on the Fx icon, and selecting the first option, Transparency.

20. Bugs with Whitespaces in Justification’s Composer when work with Thai language and other issues

    As my report on bug with text wrapping in 2020 version (https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs/suggestions/38998636-bug-with-world-ready-composer-when-use-space-like). Many of issues were fixed, but some still remain.

    Before going to the issue in the title of the post, I want to specify some issue that doesn’t fix form my last report. If you see on the attachment img 02, you will see the issue about text encoding (it just only my suspicion) that happen when you just copy and paste text (specifically in Thai) form 2020 version to 2019 or to another text editor. After I had pasted text into TextEdit almost vowels and tone marks were changed into quotation marks that which made me suspicious about text encoding in that language. (You can find .txt example download link in PS.)

    I do not know that this issue has a relative to the issue in question. The white spaces. As you can see in “img 01” in attachment (and on Indesign file) on the text where I high-lighted.

    First, you can see white space play as a character in the beginning of the line, like other white spaces such as thin-space. And you also see, when applied paragraph with Adobe World Ready Composer, either single line and paragraph, spaces other than whitespace that insert form space bar play as character on the end of the line when you apply text justify. In an example I shown to you, en-space did not collapse. It stilled as a character.

    Other than that, you can see the close parenthesis was sole wrapped into the next line, even it should stayed with the last word.

    Nearly half year, after you had claimed that Indesign support Thai, I still cloud’t update into 2020 version because of all these fatal issues.
