2. Multiple Issues

   I've noticed three glitches very recently in Adobe InDesign 2025. #1 - Seems like every other time I open the print dialog box to select the printer I want to use, the printers are in a different order in the list. #2 - Often times, when I open a document, my keyboard shortcuts won't work. I have to close the document and then re-open it to get them to work. #3 - Most frustrating is, I start to create a new document. I enter the document size into the New Document window and when I hit the Create button and it opens, the document is a completely different size than what I entered.

3. Paste without formatting option disappeared, CTRL+Shift+V not working

   There was previously an option to Paste with Formatting and Paste Without Formatting, and after recent updates, the options have disappeared and paste functioning is working incorrectly. I used both of these functions for various reasons, and would greatly appreciate it coming back! I could use CTRL+Shift+V to paste without formatting, or, if I clicked into a text box and right clicked, there were for options: Cut | Copy | Paste | Paste Without Formatting. Now, only the first three appear as options and I've lost the fourth function. There are times when I WANT to paste with formatting, though mostly I paste without formatting. Now, I don't see a Right-Click menu option for "paste without formatting" and even using CTRL+Shift+V is not working. Now, the default paste seems to be "without formatting" except even then, it's pasting with the incorrect formatting - not retaining the original settings from Word, nor adopting the settings I'm pasting into. This is a significant in-efficiency as I'm having to redo paragraph styles for all paragraphs, instead of it overlaying the text I want to replace and maintaining the InDesign paragraph styles I had with the previous text.

   I'm in v17.2.1; recently upgraded to Windows 11 also.

4. Layer Menu not showing drop down

   I have a number of Layer menus in my presentation template with choices under each category. When I click the > arrow to hide or show the contents the meun items do not appear.

5. Data Merge is not working as expected on Windows 10 - but fine on Mac Book Pro

   Data merge is not working as it was previously or as described in Help for Windows 10 - it works fine on Mac Book Pro - High Sierra... see attached images... on Windows it creates individual pages for each mail label instead of multiple instances of the text field on the same page... please repair... I have used this feature many times in the past - it is not working as expected.

6. Drive File Stream causing InDesign to crash

   InDesign v 14.0.2

   We use Drive File Stream for all of our file storing - which has been working great until last week when opening certain files made InDesign crash repeatedly. I have tried to save as an IDML, download locally and still have the crashing problem.

   When I go to open the file it will just freeze the application window, no panels visable and just the spinning Mac ball. Force quit and then reopen InDesign - then it freezes again each time upon reopening, before trying to open any files and I have to force quit again. The second time trying to reopen is successful.

   Drive file stream is working fine for most other files.

   We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the finding : Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent in nature at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.

   We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2020 (if you’re not already on it). It contains a lot of stability fixes.

7. Some hyperlinks/cross-references lost in HTML export

   When exporting a document containing hyperlinks and/or cross-references to HTML, some hyperlinks are lost.

   See the screenshot of an example InDesign document attached. (This is an anonymised excerpt from a much larger document.) The index item at the bottom contains cross-references to numbered/lettered paragraphs in the text above.

   In the actual HTML output files from both InDesign 2020 and 2021, some of those cross-references have not been correctly converted into hyperlinks. (Compare the links in the expected HTML output file.)

   Ugly workaround: insert extra characters immediately before and after each distinct hyperlink/cross-reference. In the actual 'bookended links' HTML file you can see that I have inserted a $-sign before/after each hyperlink, and the links have been exported correctly. The $-sign can then be removed by search/replace in a text editor to produce the correct HTML (this is how the expected HTML file was created).

   When it happens in a document, it happens consistently: the same hyperlinks are lost each time – but within the document there seems to be no pattern to the links that stick and the links that disappear once exported.

   This example has been tested in InDesign 16.4 x64 and 15.1.4 x64 on Windows 10 and 16.3.2 on macOS Big Sur and the results are the same in each.

8. Errors when using the Share for Review feature with highlight, strike-through and replace text.

   I have the InDesign v. 18.0
   Everytime I use the Share for Review feature, no matter where I highlight, strike-through or replace the text, the place where I want to make the suggestion is never accurate. If I try to highlight a text, when I see it the InDesign program and click the review in the Review window, it just brings me to a different page. The highlighted text isn't even highlighted at all. Same with strike-through and replace text. Of course, I can see the comment within the Review window, but when I click it, it usually brings up a different page from the one I actually selected for the review. It won't even tell me what text has the review.
   However, the pin feature and draw shape feature work really well. That's why I thought this was a bug. It's just off, not accurate at all but only with those 3 features previously mentioned.
   What I expect from it is that it actually highlights the text with the review (not just bring me to a random space in the doc) or show an actual strike-through or a text replacement icon. Or to, at least, show me the actual text that has a review in general.

   In the screenshot, I'm clicking the "Replace text" ewview and it brings me to that page that only has images. The next page is the one I made the review on. And it won't even show me what line in the text has the review.

9. GREP failure

   InDesign 2019 14.0.2 has created a new bug with GREP. If you search for any character, InDesign jumps half way through the file.
   So, for example, if you click the cursor at the start of the document, instead of GREP finding the very first character that you search for, it instead jumps towards the end of the document.
   So, for example, if you do a search for the letter 'a' in GREP, it will miss most of the document out and find the first one towards the end of the document.
   To confirm this, if you do a search and replace of . to $0 instead of finding all the characters in the document and replacing them with themselves (we use this for finding out how many characters are in a document), in one of our documents it found and replaced 30,000 characters when it should have replaced 500,000 characters.
   This has only happened in this latest update.

11. Import XLSX spreadsheet to an InDesign table: the "-1" problem

    There is a bug by adding linked xlsx-files to InDesign when the cell in Excel contains a formula which returns text. There is no issue with numbers.

12. Share for Review has ISSUES

    I have been using the Share for Review feature for almost two years now for my employer to review documents that I am creating for them. I use it almost daily and never had any issues until the updates that came a month or two ago.

    Since the Share for Review feature was updated I can...

    1. No longer copy text from the comments that are made to paste into my document. This is troublesome because I am generally laying out curriculum that has been written and there is constant text edits being made during our review process, so I was copying 75% of my comments and can no longer do that. Me having to type out their changes generally results in further problems and changes that need to be made.

    2. The comments they are making if they are highlighting specific words to remove/edit are not displaying correctly INSIDE InDesign. If I view the comments through the web, they will display correctly.
       I.E. I was just editing a paragraph where they were adding paragraph breaks. In InDesign, it highlighted half of a word in the middle of a sentence and the comment said "add paragraph break here". I knew that couldn't be right, so I viewed it on the web and the real comment was on a completely different sentence. When comments are not highlighting the right words or displaying correctly in InDesign, everyone is getting confused and it is further complicating our review and editing process.

    3. When I go to update my link after making requested edits on my file, it takes FOREVER. It used to update in seconds, and now I will get a spinning wheel for 10+ minutes. This is super annoying and delays all of my process for absolutely no reason.

    PLEASE FIX THESE ISSUES. It's so frustrating when it's something I use every day and it used to work completely fine until it was "updated".

14. wacom display

    I just upgraded to a Wacom 32 tablet and am having this problem only in Indesign. There are random little grey squares all over the page - and not just the file window but the entire "artboard" area. Other apps are not doing this. I've tried zooming in and out, display quality settings, nothing has helped. And it's not an image issue - it's basically a display issue. I have no idea how to fix this and I'm almost rendered unable to do at least 50% of my job as I'm not just an illustrator but a designer too. The monitor otherwise works fine and it seems to be InDesign-specific. See screenshots attached.

15. Excel paste to table fails

    Indesign 15.0.1 for Windows
    Copy multiple cells in two columns from Excel
    In indesign select the corresponding cells and columns in a indesign table
    Paste Excel data in Indesign table.

    Expected behavior: Data will be imported to the table as it is presented in Excel but keep the formatting options from the table in InDesign.

    Actual behavior: Imported Excell data keeps the Excel formats and and additional column is added. Import fails. please see attached screenshots and files.

    Works in Adobe InDesign 14.x for windows and 15.0.1 for MacOS

16. Workspace not being saved

    In 17.4, the workspace is not being saved. You have to go to Windows and pick a workspace in order to do anything. What comes up is nothing, no menu bars at all.

17. Crashing on Windows 11 when putting laptop into Tablet Mode

    When InDesign is open with the laptop in desktop mode it works fine. As I have a 2 in 1, I put it into tablet mode but this leads to InDesign to crash, this works vice versa if you boot it up in tablet mode and go to desktop mode.. This is really easy to replicate and all that is required is a 2in1 laptop on Windows 11.

    We have released InDesign 2025(v20.2.0.036) with many stability fixes. We recommend you upgrade to the latest version (if you’re not already on it) as it is more robust.

18. critical error displaying page content

    By default, InDesign sets the display mode using the GPU. After updating the program, a critical error began to occur: when turning pages, part of the page content simply disappears. For example, if you have 30 objects on a spread, at some point 15 of them disappear (purely conditionally, let's call them even), while the odd ones are visible. If you press the display mode switch (the w button), now the even ones appear, and the odd ones disappear. Then, to display ALL objects, you have to switch the display to enhanced view. But on the next spread, everything can change to the opposite: now half of the objects are not displayed in enhanced view, and you need to switch to normal display mode. And then press W again, on the next page part of the object disappeared again And so on in a circle. It seems that the system needs to receive a SWITCH command to display, because one way or another the objects disappear anyway. The only radical solution to this problem: switch to display via the central processor. Then everything works correctly but extremely slowly. My operating system is Windows 10, video card is Nvidia Geforce 2070 with 8 GB of memory.

19. ID crashes when call method "createHyperlinkQRCode" on Rectangle from "afterOpen" event handler

    I'm trying to develop a script that updates the QR code (creates anew in the same Rectangle ) when the document is opened.

    The Startup Script sets the event handler of the "afterOpen" event, where the "createHyperlinkQRCode" method is called on the found Rectangle object.

    In this case, InDesign crashes with an error

    Creating a QR code manually through the main menu does not cause errors. The error does not occur when the script calls the "createHyperlinkQRCode" method on the Document object. But in this case, I have to point with the cursor to the place of inserting the QR code, and this creates an unnecessary waste of time.

    If the script is called from the script panel, it works without errors, which indicates that there are no errors in the script.

    I tried the following layouts (they cause the same error and crash InDesign):
    (1) Preferred option. Call the QR code creation method directly in the "afterOpen" event handler.
    (2) I extended the Rectangle object with an additional method that is called in the "afterOpen" event handler.
    (3) I made a separate script that can be run manually. It works if I run it manually. And crashes if I call this script in the "afterOpen" event handler using doScript().

20. variable font using no font style after PDF export for fillable form

    When using a variable Font (Acumin from Adobe Fonts) for a text field in a fillable form it isn't using any font style when exported to PDF.

    Static fonts act as expected.
