story direction missing indesign 19.2
I don’t know how, but I activated story direction right to left when i created a frame with columns. I went crazy to disable it, so i found that there is an option which is missing in my indesign version (19.2. italian language). Is there a way or a keyboard shortcut to fix it? Thanks for your help

InDesign (16.2.1) Keyboard shortcuts stop working after mac goes to sleep
If my Macbook Air M1 goes to sleep with InDesign running, on waking the keyboard shortcuts no longer work (Space to drag, Option to duplicate etc). The only way to restore the functions is to reboot, after which it's fine again until it goes to sleep again.
Has anyone managed to find a fix for this? Resetting the preferences makes no difference and it's not a 3rd party software either, I've tested both possibilities and the fault still remains.

publish indesign file not working with Indesign 2023
Indesign 2023. MacOS 12.6.1. Shared Device License (Lab iMacs). When going to Publish an Indesign document it errors. Installed 2022 version of Indesign, the Publish option works.
When attempting this on a Mac with a Named License it works though, but not when using this in a Lab (Higher Ed) on iMacs with the Shared Device License.

Incorrect Keyboard-Shortcut for "New Document"
InDesign Mac 16.1 (German)
Open InDesign. Type on keyboard: command N
Should create and open a new empty document
Nothing happens
At the same time:
2. Open InDesign. Type on keyboard: option command N
3. Nothing whould happen

After the last update, the following things no longer work properly:
1. CC Libraries
(Crashes and shows either a reduced or enlarged section of the library and is no longer usable. Only a program restart helps ... short term! see screenshot 1. the bug was already in Illustrator!)- edge smoothing! (Not only since the update): ... I have InDesign Mac 20.1. I have a Book consisting of 3 documents. In the documents there are Figure captions in Minion Pro font. When I have an N-rule (option hyphen) in Caption and I create a table of contents (ToC) the N-rule becomes superscript Stempel Garamond LT Std in the ToC even though the caption style is Minion Pro

Text wrap on anchored frame causes InDesign to freeze
- InDesign CC 2018 13.1 on macOS 10.13.6
- When placing an object in a text frame, thus creating an anchored object, and then applying to the latter a text wrap method that is different from default (none), either via application ui, script or object style;
- Expected to apply the wanted text wrap option;
- Application freezes.

We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the finding : Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent in nature at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.
We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2020.0.1 (if you’re not already on it). It contains a lot of stability fixes.

navigation
The navigation bar at the bottom of the screen is visible as soon as we hit a key.
It is a bit annoying when you use this tool to make a presentation..

Applying the Brush to the Arc Only
When we apply a brush, it applies it to the entire angled circle. When we draw an angular circle, can we add the option to apply brushes only to the arc? The color of the straight lines should be "none" so that the circle is not distorted.

Controller skin for embedded video
I've been using InDesign to create PDF publications with embedded videos. When I created them in earlier versions of InDesign there was an option in the Interactive/Media window to choose a controller skin. I'm up to date with InDesign/CC and this has disappeared. The videos still exist in the exported PDF, but there is no obvious way for the end user to play/pause/rewind the video. This is an essential feature for the work I do. What now?
1 voteThe Controller Skins were based on Flash. Now that Flash is EOL, those skins are no longer supported and hence have been removed from the Media panel.

Open Type Fractions are Broken
The last several weeks I've not been able to create fractions via Open Type text alternates even though it's set to do that in advanced type preferences and it's not giving me a dropdown option when the fraction is selected as it used to. It also doesn't work via the character window route. I'm using the most up to date CC InDesign 2021.

Add a Back Button to Navigate Recently Changed Items in Find/Change
I frequently use the Find/Change feature in InDesign for text and style replacements. However, it would be very helpful to have a "Back" button or feature to navigate to the last changed instance, especially when working on long documents.
Currently, the only workaround is manually using Undo (Ctrl+Z/Cmd+Z), but this isn't ideal for reviewing multiple changes. A "Go Back" option would enhance productivity and reduce errors by allowing users to quickly review recent changes.

Image catalog script - For creating Contact Sheets
Under Scripts, my image catalog script does not complete the place command to create an image catalog for me. When bug is worked out, I would also like an option to number each image, instead of only placing file names.
To recreate: Create new document, letter size. Open scripts, and run Imagecatalog.applescript. Set rows and columns( doesn't matter, also doesn't matter if labels is checked or unchecked) . Page will populate rectangle boxes, but not graphic frames nor insert images.

Go back to old method of "space after" paragraphs
I'm fine with the concept of allowing users to adjust the "spacing between paragraphs using same style." But the way this feature was added doesn't make sense: I think you should have left the old "space after" system the way it was, and allowed users to add the "spacing between paragraphs using same style" box as an extra option. The way you set it up (unless I'm misunderstanding something), anyone wanting to put spacing between paragraphs now has to enter data into two boxes, whether they want certain sections to have custom spacing or not. Drag or transform creates unwanted duplicate of object
Moving any object (text, image, etc) with either the Move tool or Direct Selection tool creates a duplicate without having any other keys pressed (eg, option/alt).
Also when repositioning an object with Properties > Transform it also creates a duplicate of the object.Mac OS 10.14.4

Ordinals do not work
The OpenType function „ordinals“ does not function correctly.
When I type English ordinal numbers (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and so on), the option „ordinals“ should move the text characters to the top. When the number is at the beginning of a line, it works. But if there’s another word before the number, it puts only the first character to the top and leaves the second on line. I tried with different fonts, and only with one of the fonts it works as expected. What’s wrong???1 vote -
Export to Flat psd --- not flat
Export As..., option 'Flat image' does not result in an actual flat image. the result is a layer in Photoshop, instead of a Background / flat image.
Why is this important? Because in InDesign, only really flat grayscales can be given a color. Unfortunately, the result of the Ai export has to be flattened in Photoshop before it can be used to color it in InDesign.1 vote -
Colour swatch in Effects panel previews as RGB instead of CMYK
My working document is CMYK. When I open my Effects panel to change a swatch colour in the Blending section, it previews the colour as RGB, not CMYK. When you click on the swatch to bring up the Effect Colour panel, the swatch shows as the CMYK breakdown. The initial Blending option panel is incorrectly previewing as RGB and the swatches do not correlate. This occurs on all colours and all FX.
