Paragraph style naming field typed text overwrites itself
>>- >
- >Double click style name >
- >Attempt to rename style >
- >Text field appears limited to 1-3 characters. >
- >As text is entered into the field, each character deletes and replaces the previous (ie overtype mode). >

Footnotes won't number sequentially; cannot select multiple or all footnotes
>>When I place a Word document with footnotes into InDesign, the footnote paragraphs become separated from each other. I cannot click and drag to highlight text from more than one footnote, and I cannot use Command>A to select all the footnotes. Command>A only highlights all the text from the single selected footnote. Furthermore, the numbered paragraph style applied to the footnote paragraphs won't recognize that there was a previous paragraph flowing to it, so each paragraph is numbered as number 1. Even though "continue from previous" is selected in the numbering options. Also, the numbering style from Word imports

text won't appear over a pdf or imported image
>>>when i import an image or a pdf, any text that i try to have over it (such as putting a page number in the corner of the page) disappears. it's not that the text doesn't appear when the imported file isn't there, just that it is disappearing as it goes "beneath" the image or pdf. sending the imported file to back or the text to front does nothing.

InDesign crashes when formatting footnotes
>>>Formatting footnotes using InDesign 2022 v 17.1 causes severe lag and eventually the program seizes up and must be ended through task manager. Full details here:
> >>The resolution to the issue was to roll back InDesign to 16.4.1, no such problems with that.

Before tag and after untag frame with different behavior
>>If you tag a frame object (XML), this object does not behave the same after untagging as before tagging. In other words: tagging is not fully reversible. You can see a difference in the layer panel and in the exported PDF tag structure (Tagged PDF)

document window turns white while scoping within text box
>>>after upgrade to sonoma 14.1.2 (running INDD 19.0.1), while scoping text - everything inside the document window goes away to white only and, reappears when releasing input device. this makes it impossible to select exact sections of text. it does not occur while double clicking to select an entire line. It did not occur until this morning after upgrading OS.

[ID-4261000]Hebrew Text with Vowel Points Reorders Incorrectly When Pasted from InDesign to Word
>>When keying (or importing) Hebrew text, InDesign often misplaces vowel points when two or more vowel points are attached to a single base character unless the base character and vowel points are keyed in a specific order. I don't totally understand it, but it has something to do with Unicode normalization. Microsoft Word gets around this problem, but I can't say how. It would be nice, however, if InDesign could get around it, too.
>>One Hebrew font, SBL Hebrew, has written Unicode features (?) to prevent the normalization problem, but most fonts cannot do this on their own

Bug: Find/replace fonts doesn't work on hidden conditional text
>>>Version: Indesign 17.x
>
> Problem: when opening a document that reports a missing fonts, replacing all instance with "Replace all" buttons might not work or not replace all when the text is conditional and currently hidden.
> It's understandable that "Find first" cannot work on hidden text, because that would mean to reveal it, but "Replace" all wouldn't jump to any text part in the document, so it should work.1 vote -
InDesign 19.0.1 Crashes When Exporting Stories to InCopy
>>I have just set up a new MacBook Pro running InDesign 19.0.1 on Sonoma (pre-installed). Every time I attempt to export .icml stories from a layout file to my SMB Synology share, the file crashes and InDesign quits. When a co-worker on Monterey does the same thing with the same file, the .icml stories export normally.
>>I have tried exporting individual text frames rather than "export all stories" and got the same result. I've tried exporting the stories from a different local .indd file to my computer and got the same result.
>>What else should I

Overprint white text when color changed in stylesheet
>>>When changing color to 'Paper' on a selected text – it automatically is set to not overprint (correct behaviour).
>
> However if you change the color in a stylesheet, from a color with overprint, to 'Paper'. It will remain on overprint.
> Also the checkbox gets greyed out. So to fix it you must choose another color, uncheck overprint, then go back to 'Paper'.>InDesign 18.2.1

[Performance] Footnote disappears
>>>A footnote disappeared without reason then appeared back when I changed something in the page layout. This is a very important bug because InDesign didn't display any kind of warning about this problem: no red indicator of missing text or overfull text block. I noticed it by chance. Please look at the screen captures to understand it: the number 2 footnote is missing whereas the footnote number is present in the text. In the other screen capture, the problem has been solved.
>131 votesThe fix for this issue is now available in the latest update of InDesign – version 16.1
Please update to this version to get the fix. To prevent problem on existing documents and see the footnotes again, you will have to force recompose the stories.
To force recompose stories, you can use the shortcut Command-Option-/ (slash) on Mac or Ctrl-Alt-slash on Windows-InDesign Team

Indesign CC 2019 Bugs(Preserve Styles and Formatting from Text and Tables)
>>>I usually use the inDesign to import the created word file.
>
> However, if I check the Preserve Styles and Formatting from Text and Tables in indesign cc 2019 and import the file, the formatting of the text will be deleted.
> This does not happen with Indesign cc 2018, but this will continue to happen in this 2019 upgrade.

Allow InDesign to retain local formatting when updating linked text files.
>>>When using linked text files in InDesign, any local formatting changes made directly in InDesign (such as font size, color, bold/italic, etc.) are lost when the external text file is updated. This is a significant limitation for designers who need to maintain complex formatting in layouts. Please add an option to retain local formatting when linked text files are updated.
>>Suggestion:
>
> “Preserve Local Formatting” in the Links panel or File Handling preferences.1 vote
