1. Hidden content in pdf export

   Adobe InDesign CC 2017. While exporting the file into a PDF. In the PDF while searching for a word I found some sort of ghost fields (picture ghostfields.png). Then I found out that the problem is caused by graphics that we use internally. There are mostly more than just one graphic in one Illustrator file (picture illustratorfile.png). It is saved as an ai, not eps. InDesign exports the parts of those graphics that are actually not visible in InDesign (picture error2.png). I could not find out why, or how to solve it. And because of those ghost field you can not search for anything within the pdf. The only solution was to export the pdf, and then print the pdf with adobe pdf to create a new 'clean' pdf.

3. [ID-4273320]"Failed to place PDF" with a PDF file created in Canva

   Trying to import a client supplied PDF, created in the paid version of Canva and saved as a CMYK print quality PDF (not flattened). Will not place into InDesign. I've tried various and no import options and it does not work. I have placed this PDF into Adobe Illustrator and Affinity Publisher 2 without issue.

4. Major delay when changing page via the page up/down or double-clicking on the page icon

   Major delay when changing page via the page up/down or double-clicking on the page icon. Usually happens when you have first opened a document. For example when you apply the keyboard command Opt-Pagedown, the icon on the bottom left of the screen immediately shows the page has changed but nothing happens. Sometimes it wont redraw the new page until you click on the screen and this only works after some time has passed (approx 6-8 seconds after). This was always instant in previous versions. My settings for view are on >Typical and I have Type Contextual Control set to >OFF.

5. InDesign spacebar hand/zoom doesn't work when Brave browser is open on Mac

   I couldn't get the spacebar toggle to hand to work in InDesign - rebooted a few times and realized that it works fine as long as Brave browser is not open. Adobe updated a few days ago, and up until now it was working fine with the browser open. Any chance of a fix?

6. InDesign fails to launch due to "Error: 0xc000012f"

   For the last week or so, I have not been able to open InDesign. It seems it is the only Adobe programme causing me problems.
   I've tried uninstalling and installing InDesign - nothing happens. I've sent a few bug reports, but haven't received any answer to how I get the programme to work.

   Many internal as well as external factors can cause the InDesign application to crash/freeze/hang.

   Error 0xc000012f means that you lack the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable files which are prerequisites of the InDesign application.

   A few workarounds are listed at Fix crash issues with InDesign.

7. Import SVG, crashing indesign

   I'm on MAC and I'm using the latest versin of Indesign 16.2.1 and when i import an svg (who come Adobe XD), indesign do not respond and crash.

8. Roboto fonts not working in indesign

   I have tried everything to add Roboto fonts to creative cloud to be used in InDesign but nothing works. First, I click on the "f" in the upper right hand corner, and it just spins and spins saying loading. The next thing I tried was going to Adobe Fonts website and 'Activiating all Robot Fonts." Even though it shows as activated, Whenever I try to export my design it says following fonts (Roboto family) aren't currently available.

10. No tool type disable feature. Can't close.

    Adobe Indesign 2020.

    VERY ANNOYING. I can't even close the boxes. I have to save, quit app, and open again...EVERY TIME. This includes all the tool tips.

11. Hide Frame Edges Keyboard Shortcut is Not Working

    Expected result: The keyboard shortcut (Control + Command + H) is supposed to show and hide frame edges.
    Actual result: The keyboard shortcut does not work. I've tried quitting InDesign and restarting. I've tried shutting down my Macbook and restarting. The keyboard shortcut still does not work.

12. Unable to type certain Hebrew letters with Diacritics on Mac

    Description:
    On mac, some letters with diacritics has lost their ability to produce diactritics and no longer work.

    The letters and how to type them with Hebrew script installed on system:
    1. Vav Holam
    2. Vav Shuruk
    3. Shin
    4. Sin
    5. Lamed holam

    An InDesign document is attached with samples and explanations.

    Steps to Reproduce:
    1. On a mac, add Hebrew Script to you system language.
    2. Open InDesign Middle Eastern Version and create a text box with the a Right to left Text tool.
    3. While the system script is set to Hebrew, try to type the following letters with the following shortcuts:
    1. Vav Holam - Shift+u
    2. Vav Shuruk - Atl+u
    3. Shin - Shift+a
    4. Sin - Alt+a
    5. Lamed Holam - Shit+k

    Actual Result:
    1. Vav Holam - Shift+u Produce ו
    2. Vav Shuruk - Atl+u Produce ו
    3. Shin - Shift+u Produce ש
    4. Sin - Atl+u Produce ש
    5. Lamed Holam - Shit+k Produce ל

    Expected Result::

    This was reported to Adobe Pre-Release on Oct 21, 2018 and nothing was done about it!

14. Variable Font (Source Sans 3) some Characters not available

    macOS Ventura 13.5.2 (22G91), InDesign 19.0
    Since the update to Indesign 2024 (or version 19.0), some letters can no longer be selected in bold or black for the variable version of the font "Source Sans 3". When adjusting the slider, they become thinner again (instead of thicker) from a weight of 600. It affects e.g. the small a, e and l, but not the i, s... etc. they are also not displayed in the glyphs. With font weights below 600 (up to and including semibold) everything works fine (variable and with font weights). This applies to both the TT-version (download) and the version via Creative Cloud / Adobe Fonts. When installing the font via download, all characters are correctly available in the system, but not in Indesign. The font also works without problems in Illustrator.

15. Nav bar size change ruins my web app layout

    Adobe have recently made the Nav bar at the bottom of the Publish Online interface fatter, unfortunately for my company, this means a carefully crafted web-app now has the Nav bar covering the lower part of my menu. It also on some PO documents, stays popped-up for much longer than 5 seconds, sometimes on single page documents, up to 15 seconds.
    Adobe say this is because they wanted to improve accessibility, but really they're messing with a space that shouldn't keep changing, as per the margin around PO documents they added earlier in the year. Improve the products - yes, but leave the PO document interface alone please, it's what we have to work within, if Adobe keeps changing it this wastes lots of designer time and makes us feel Adobe's agenda is more important that the views of paying subscribers.

16. Imported CMYK JPEG files appear inverted or as negative

    Reproduced in Adobe InDesign CC 2018 and 2019 on Mac and PC

    1) Converted a PDF file to a CMYK JPEG and a RGB JPEG
    2) Import both images into InDD
    3) RGB image previews/prints correctly
    4) CMYK image previews/prints as inverted/negative

    The CMYK file opens correctly in other apps: Photoshop, Illustrator, Preview, Web Browsers, etc.

17. Backwards apostrophe

    The "right-single-quote" mark (i.e. apostrophe) in InDesign is rendering backwards, ONLY with the font that I'm using (Acme Gothic). The apostrophe is correct with other fonts, and on other Adobe products (Illustrator and Photoshop). It's specifically when using this font, and in InDesign. It's even using the correct character (’) but it's appearing backwards. It also exports backwards in a PDF as well. I'm using Adobe InDesign 2020 on a Macbook Pro.

    The ’ for the font Acme Gothic has been set to Mirrored in your text frame, that’s why it is rendering backwards.

    To change all instances of this, highlight it with the mouse, right-click, the choose ‘Load Selected Glyph in Find’. The Find/Change dialog opens with the selected glyph already in the Find Glyph field – its Unicode ID is 201B. To change the Glyph to the non-mirrored one, just type 2019 in the Unicode ID field . Then click Change All. It will change all instances of the mirrored apostrophe with the non-mirrored apostrophe.

18. InDesign 17.0 crashes on launch after removing a previously installed CEP Extension

    Steps to reproduce in InDesign 17.0:

    1. Install a CEP extension folder manually to ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions
    2. Launch then quit InDesign
    3. Delete CEP extension folder installed in step 1
    4. Launch InDesign, it will crash when "Starting up panels"

    As a workaround deleting the following cache folder allows InDesign to launch again.
    ~/Library/Caches/Adobe InDesign/Version 17.0

    This was not an issue in ID 16.4

    The fix of the issue is now available in the latest InDesign 2022(v17.0.1.105). We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.

    Bug when setting an even number for the start page number when creating a new document

       CC2025 (ver. 20.0) JP

    2. Steps to reproduce the issues
       Set any even number for the start page number on the Create New Document screen.

    3. Expected result
       An even page number will be displayed in Current Page Number as set.

    4. Actual resul
       The value set in the New Document screen will not be reflected, and “Current Page Number” will display “1”.

    As shown in the attached figure, when “Current Page Number” is inserted into a new document with the starting page number set to an even number, the document starts with “1”.
    (As long as the number set in the new document creation screen is an even number, any value will not be reflected and will become “1”).

    This phenomenon can be recovered by temporarily setting a different value in “Number & Section Option”.
    However, for users who are not aware of this behavior, it is sure to cause great confusion.
    It can also cause significant time loss in finding a solution.
    We have not been able to verify whether this bug is specific to the Japanese version, but we recognize that it is a very serious bug.
    We sincerely hope that the development team will fix it as soon as possible.

    新規ドキュメント作成画面で、開始ページ番号に任意の偶数を設定する。

    予想される結果
    「現在のページ番号」に、設定通りの偶数ページ番号が表示される。

    実際の結果
    新規ドキュメント画面で設定した値は反映されず、「現在のページ番号」に「1」が表示される。

    添付画像のように、開始ページ番号を偶数番号に設定した新規ドキュメントに、「現在のページ番号」を挿入すると「1」から開始されます。
    （新規ドキュメント作成画面で設定した番号が偶数である限り、いかなる値であっても反映されず「1」となる）

    この現象は「ページ番号とセクションの設定」で、一時的に別の値を設定すれば回復します。
    しかしこの挙動を認識していないユーザーにとって、大きな混乱を招く原因となることは間違いありません。
    また、解決策を見つけるために大きな時間のロスを生む可能性があります。
    この不具合は日本語版固有の問題なのかは検証できていませんが、非常に深刻なバグであると認識しています。
    開発チームには早急に改善していただくよう切に希望します。

    Fix for this issue is now available in the latest InDesign Release version 20.1 (Build 20.1.0.71), available via Creative Cloud Desktop application.

    Please update your InDesign application to this latest version to get the fix.

20. InDesign crashes and content disappears

    InDesign sometimes crashes when saving, packaging, or exporting a file. It then corrupts file, removing content (entire text boxes are now empty). This is destroying files and setting me back hours in my workflow.

    1. Adobe InDesign 16.0
    2. Save/export/package
    3. Should have stable, usable files
    4. InDesign crashes and corrupts my source file

    • Reproducible Steps – What were you doing when InDesign crashed?
    • Video recording of the crash?
    • Is(Are) the issue related to a specific document(s)/asset(s)? If yes, could you provide the document(s)/asset(s) to us? Please package the entire document (To package the document, choose File → Package…)
