  2. Objects on canvas move down when new page created

Have just noticed that when I create a new page in the middle of a multipage document, objects on the canvas of following pages are all pushed down an extra page - i've screen capped before/after. I tested on two other documents and one other computer and was able to reproduce the issue every time...

    Version: 13.0/CC 2018
Reproduce issue by: Create multipage document with objects on the canvas. Insert pages using pages palette in the middle of the document; watch all your canvas content move down!

  3. Slow performance - spinning wheel - AdobeFnt22.lst

Hi Adobe, we are still having major issues with a lot of spinning wheels in InDesign version 15.1.1. because of the AdobeFnt22.lst files that are created with every document. Basically when we open a document it resyncs/updates the AdobeFnt22.lst file of every document that was previously worked from that Mac. This is causing a lot of network traffic and spinning wheels in InDesign. The problem is fixed if we restart the Mac or rename the "Document fonts" folder so that InDesign no longer uses the fonts so does not create an "AdobeFnt.lst" file. Can you please sort this out,…

  4. InDesign interface has issues after exiting touch mode

To replicate the bug, have at least two documents open.
After using touch mode and then switching to normal (essentials), the status bar at the end of the current document (contains pages, etc.) will look a little rough. In the document that was not focused, the entire status bar background is missing. In addition, on that document the scrollbars disappear and flash while you scroll, which is a little disturbing for your eyes.

  5. Placed PDFs and Images Not Rendering

I'm on InDesign 2022 (17.2) and have started recently having issues with placed images and PDFs after an update. I have a 2021 silicon Mac Mini for Travel and an Intel 2019 iMac for home use. Both on Monterey 12.3.1

The rendering issue began after certain documents originally worked on in the silicon version had issues when opening in the Intel version.

This happened with both images (TIFs, JPGs) and PDF files. After placing the files in InDesign (in the mac mini) they rendered fine. Upon opening the files though in InDesign on my iMac. The renderings did…

  6. InDesign freezes and then crashes

    Version: InDesign 15.0.1 x64
Issue(s): 1. One example is that when working in InDesign and go to save a file the application shows that the icon is spinning and never seems to stop spinning. Then an error message pops up on the screen indicating some sort of issue and then the application crashes to the desktop.
    2. When opening up a file that I have been working on it takes a while to open and when it does open it opens a prior file that I was working on.
Expected Results: 1. When saving a file I am expecting…

To identify the cause of this issue, we had started our investigation with the aim to resolve it. You might have also received email from us seeking more details to help in our investigation.

We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the finding : Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent in nature at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.

We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2020 (if you’re not already on it). It contains a lot of stability fixes.

If you still face this issue even after updating to the latest version of InDesign, please submit the crash report to us. (The guidelines to submit crash are available at (https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/submit-crash-reports.html)
We seek your support in our continual effort to improve InDesign.

  8. [Scripting] Document.findObject() incorrectly targets activeDocument

    System: Indesign 18.4, MacOS 13.4.1

    To reproduce:
    1. Open two documents, each with a filled frame 100% tint.
    2. Run attached script "findObject bug.js"
    3. Note the console output.
    4. Refer to this forum post for notes and commentary.

    Expected result:
doc.findObject() will return found items from both open documents.

    Actual result:
doc.findObject() returns only items from active document.

Note that using app.findObject() is not a viable workaround in some cases, such as the issue in this post.

  10. Crash: book-panel shows unopened file as opened, when saving Indesign crashes

I noticed an issue with the book panel.
For some reason sometimes it shows the icon for "file is open" on some files even though they're not opened in Indesign.

When I open and want to save them, Indesign want me to define a filelocation again. It seems that Indesign lost the connection to the original file then.

When saving the file (I usually overwrite the existing one) Indesign crashes.

See attached screenshot for the "opened file"-icon in the book panel.

  11. Montserrat typeface's; semi bold, bold, extra bold & black has issues displaying in Id

    Version 2024 19.0

When I change the font to Monserrat with one of the mentioned styles most of the glyphs are wrongly presented for example if i choose bold most of the letters seem to be light rather than bold, with a few like 'o' and 'E' displaying as the right style, when they should all be displayed as bold.

  12. XSL used to export XML, replace function causing issues

Here’s the issue: in the process of exporting XML using XSL, extended characters (like fancy quotes and em-dashes) are being replaced incorrectly. Basically, while replacing the character with it's corresponding HTML entity, the character plus two more characters get replaced.

The problem is caused by a difference between the way Adobe is handling XSL in older versions 2014 vs. 2018 or newer. Attached you will find an example export of the 2014 export and the 2018 export using the exact same XSL. Notice that in the 2018 TWO characters after every special character are getting replaced. I have also…

  13. Image tagged with sRGB, but InDesign assigns AdobeRGB (Workspace) and displays incorrect colors

    I´m using Indesign 13.0.1 x64

To recreate please use the following steps (I have AdobeRGB as Working-space and preserve profiles):
    1. Create a new document
    2. Place the attached Image "Portrait_Edip-original.jpg"
    3. Look for the Profile in the links-panel

The image has sRGB but displays as Workspace RGB but my workspace is AdobeRGB and also the colors are incorrect.
Bridge and Photoshop both show the right profile.
When i open the image in Photoshop and save it as jpeg it works in InDesign.

I have this issue from time to time but now i´m sure it´s a bug.

    I work…

  15. Font errors of Southeast Asian languages such as Myanmar (Burmese) Unicode

Font errors of Southeast Asian languages such as Myanmar (Burmese) Unicode

    1.     Version of Adobe InDesign, InCopy or InDesign Server : InDesign CC 2020 15.0.3 / 15.1.1 (Korean)

    2.     Steps to reproduce the issues : Text deformation, image mislocation, text warp errors occurred when Myanmar (Burmese) Unicode text is used in InDesign CC 2020 version. Some of these errors samely appear in Khmer, Lao and Thai as well. I've tried 'World-Ready Composer' function, 'setting-up the language', changing to language font', but none of them worked.

    3.     Expected result: It should been shown as '(Expected result) InDesign CC 2020_200731'.

  16. Not able to create new guides

I am seeing many issues with the new updated InDesign - it seems a lot of the issues are solved if you have no browsers open. But let's be honest that is ridiculous! First I was not able to scale items proportionately while holding down the shift key. Now I can't create new guides, however the minute I close out all my browsers this functionality begins to work.

Please fix the many conflicts between INDD and the web browsers. I am on a MacBook Pro using High Sierra. The conflicts appear when either Chrome or FireFox are open.…

  17. Dragging the zero point to a new location will not work in rotated spreads

If you rotated a spread view and you want to move the zero point from the origin to a different location the landing point is never the one you dragged the cross-hairs of the rulers to.

It needs a sophisticated script that will workaround this bug. Currently I'm writing one, that should overcome this issue.

    Nevertheless, that should be fixed.

Watch the movie clip where I like to drag the zero point to a new loaction and always fail.

    Regards,
    Uwe

  18. Cursor clicking and dragging when only clicking.

When just clicking somewhere on-screen (e.g. clicking a different swatch colour or clicking on a text box), sometimes the cursor will click and drag the item as well. I have tried multiple mice (3) and still have the same issue with each one, making me assume it may be a software issue.

  19. Shift and Alt keys not working.

This seems to happen randomly, but while working on an InDesign doc these keys will stop working and the only fix is to restart my entire laptop. This doesn't really fix anything though because the issue can happen again within minutes of starting back up.

I use shift and alt a lot to align assets on my pages as well as duplicate certain assets. Among a bunch of other things.

This happens across all version I use (2019, 2020 and 2021)

The fix of the issue is now available in the latest InDesign 2021(v16.0.0.77). We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.

If you are unable to see the update, go to the Creative Cloud application and click on the context menu on the top right and click on Check for App Updates.
