1. Second screen panels don't appear automatically

   As part of my custom workspace, I have certain panels set up to appear on a second screen.

   Since updating to Indesign CC 2019, no panels on my second screen appear by default when opening InDesign. Instead, I have to go to the Window drop down and manually open one of the panels assigned to the second screen, which then brings up all the second screen panels.

2. Clicking between windows changes page on previous active window

   Is anyone else having this odd behavior where clicking between windows change page shown on previous active window?

   • InDesign CC 2018 (Build 13.0.1)

3. paragraph window not working properly

   No numbers are showing in the paragraph window. I can manually adjust (sometimes) with the arrows but I have no idea what the numbers are. The numbers which are showing are poking out of their boxes. The justification buttons also sometimes don't work.

   I've shut down, restarted, reinstalled etc. I used an older version of InDesign for a while because it's almost impossible to work with. Woke up today and the old version has gone and the new version had installed itself but still has these bugs.

   I'm using Indesign 17.3 on MacOS Monterey 12.4.

4. [ID-4260994]The filter in the review panel is automatically changing to "resolved"

   This happens very frequently.

   I will be going through user comments given online in the Indesign Review tab. As I do them I resolve them. This works fine.

   But then suddenly and randomly it will just decide to change my filter to show all resolved! Then all the old issues magically appear in the tab again until I go back to filter and unselect the Resolved button.

   Then it happens again. And again. It happens only when I go to change something in the document but it doesn't seem to matter what type of issue i'm doing. Replacing text. Deleting, etc.

   I'm also finding that comments are taking a few minutes to get from the web into indesign as i keep seeing the little wheel turning a lot.

   This happens very frequently.

5. Split Screen and Multi Window Screen Redraw Issues (diagonal slash)

   I have the same error occurring on two machines (different Adobe accounts) - both fresh (a month old) installations of InDesign 2026 (V21.3)

   Whenever viewing in Multi-Window (two documents side by side) or Split Screen (same document with two viewports side by side). Making minor edits often causes the top portion of one window or the other to go blank diagonally across the screen(see images). It gets filled in either white or the pasteboard color.

   Scrolling up/down will correctly redraw content that comes into view, but whatever was already in the frame buffer stays and the blank area just scrolls up/down until you completely scroll to all new content.

   This seems to happen whether either window is in "NORMAL" or "PREVIEW" mode and often when switching focus between windows, typically in the window losing focus. If the window receiving focus already has the blank diagonal area it briefly shows the full page then the diagonal comes back. In some cases both windows can have the diagonal slash across them.

   Please remove whatever moronic new AI tool got shoved into the software and broke this basic function that has worked fine for 20 years - I have actual work I need to do!

6. Some spreads gone grey and only export as blank pages in 15.1.1

   I have a 48-page magazine about to go to print and three spreads have suddenly gone grey - as you see in screenshot. In the Pages panel they appear blank and when I export them - also blank. Getting worried...

   Separately, the "Fit Page/Spread in Window" instead zooms in to 2,642% magnification.

7. Indesign 2024 not working with window-snapping apps

   I recently upgraded to InDesign 2024. I use BetterSnapTool to arrange my app-windows in order to have a efficient and practical workflow. But InDesign 2024 does not work with BetterSnapTool (BST) or any other window-snapping apps due to this reason I received from the BST support:
   "Unfortunately all window manager apps on macOS are affected by this, Adobe has broken their window resizing behavior in their recent updates. Their products do not respond correctly to window resizing requests using the macOS Accessibility API anymore. As of now I don't think there is anything I can do to fix this. If possible please also report to Adobe, they would need to fix this in their apps."
   BST works with every other application. I have reset InDesign preferences, but it still does not work properly. Therefore I still use InDesign 2023, since BST works perfectly fine with that application. The problem is that when I for instance snap ID2024 to 2/3 of the screen and I put another application in 1/3 of the screen (so far it works) but when I go to the 1/3 app and copy information and return to ID2024, ID2024 goes back to full screen again. Very annoying and it destroys my workflow. Adobe please fix this! I enclose a short videoclip to show how badly it behaves... I work on Mac Studio M2, macOS Sonoma 14.5

8. InDesign Crashes on Opening from a Book Panel Multiple INDDs with Modified Links

   Machine: MacBook Pro 13 in mid-2012 (i7, 2.9 GHz, 16 GB RAM)
   OS: macOS 10.13.4
   App: InDesign 13.1.0.76 (but basically every subversion of 13)

   1. I have several INDBs containing from 6 to around 20 INDDs each.

   2. Most INDDs contain from 3 to 60 cross-references (since book-spanning TOCs often crash InDesign, but that’s for another topic) – mostly within the respective INDD, but one INDD per book always has CRs to other INDDs within the same book or in other books.
      (My typical INDD contents: 2–48 facing pages with threaded, 1-column text boxes, therein several dozens of “custom” anchored objects, mostly containing text and auto-resizing in height, some containing linked INDDs or dynamic captions. Everything tidily formatted with object, paragraph, and character styles with moderate use of GREP styles.)

   3. I try to open more than one (or every) INDD from the book panel in one go (select & shift-select several chapters, double-click on one of the selected).

   4. A couple files open, and with the first one to contain modified links …

   5. … I click “Don’t update links” (but it’s the same if I click “Update links”).

   InDesign reliably crashes faster than the sound waves from the mouse click reach my ear.

   This never happens when I open (double-click from the book panel) one INDD at a time from the book panel.

   To identify the cause of this issue, we had started our investigation with the aim to resolve it. You might have also received email from us seeking more details to help in our investigation.

   We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the finding : Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent in nature at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.

   We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2020.0.1 (if you’re not already on it). It contains a lot of stability fixes.

9. Relink from CC Libraries Sorting

   When Relinking assets in InDesign using "Relink from CC Libraries", the CC Libraries panel that shows isn't capable of having its sort order (date modified vs alphabetically) changed nor is it able to show Groups - please fix so it has the same view functionality as the regular CC Libraries Panel.

10. Image tags all grouped in their own article at the end of the tags panel

    I have set up articles in multiple files InDesign 2020 (files first created in InDesign 2019 and updated to 2020 yesterday and today). When I export to PDF, all image tags are added to a new article in the bottom of the tags panel in Acrobat DC rather than in the articles that I assigned them to in InDesign. Luckily, I preserved a version of InDesign 2019 and can open them in there and export to have the tags show up in the correct place. FYI, I also made sure my layers order in InDesign is as I want it to be.

    Fix for this issue is now available in the latest update of InDesign 2020 – that is, InDesign 15.0.1

    In the Creative Cloud Desktop application, click on the Updates section on the left. You should be able to see the Update available for InDesign. Please update your InDesign application to this version to try out the fix.

11. Opening file in Indesign 2023 will not show file window without resetting workspace layout

    When I initially startup my adobe indesign 2023 program and open a file from either the recent documents or drop down toolbar, the file window does not appear. It appears as if nothing has been opened. If I then select window > workspace > essentials (or any other saved workspace layout), the file window will appear.

    If I have a file already open and is visible, I can open an additional file and it appear. It is only when I do not have a visible file window that this occurs. Therefore, if I was to close this file window and not close the app, attempt to open a new file, the new file window will not appear.
    This happens when I'm on my macbook pro or when I am operating on multiple windows. This happens always.

    These are software/osx versions:

    macOS Ventura 13.5
    indesign 18.5

12. Page tool will not select a single page on a parent spread when Properties panel is open

    1. Create a Document with Spread and go to parent pages.

    2. Open the Properties Panel, select the Page tool and try to select a single page.

    3. Result: All pages are selected.

    4. Override: Close the Properties panel to be able to select a single page

    A similar post was reported in User Voice in 2021 it was not investigated and never got fixed.

13. control panel not showing up

    every time i open indesign cc 2019 my control panels are gone. i can get them back with shortcut (cmd t). this happens for every document (new and already existing). it happens also not only at indesign startup, but also when i open close documents during work. it work in two different offices and it happens in both indesigns. any clue?

14. Fit spread in window view only works 10% of the time. Please fix issue. I just updated InDesign to 17.4 and no fix.

15. Exporting Indd document to PDF > window only partly visible (4K monitor)

    When exporting a document via File > Adobe PDF Presets > Export to PDF on a 4K monitor, the window is only partly visible. I cannot change the settings because I only see the bottom part of the window. See Screen shot.

16. Buttons do not work in Indesign

    Certain buttons aren't working in Indesign. E.g. I can't click into the preflight panel, or the pop-up comes up for a millisecond, too fast for me to click into it. This is happening with the Preflight panel, the 'align to' button in the Alignment panel, and other toggles like it. Incredibly frustrating. I've tried restarting but the issue persists.

17. InDesign 2021 crashes when opening some panels

    For example, I select some text and click to open the Hyperlinks panel. ID crashes straight away.

    Or I select an anchored object, right click to select Anchored Object > Options. The panel comes up with 'Inline' selected and then I click on 'Above Line'. It crashes straight away.

    I've had a similar problem working in tables, when I right click to delete a row, it crashes immediately.

    I've had to go back to 2020 to be able to work on some of my documents.

19. glitchy grey squares and triangles popping up under images when placed, they also sometimes pop up under the cursor.

    I keep getting grey squares and triangles pop under the cursor or under images when I place them on my document and Its very distracting. Im not sure if its anything to do with the new update?

20. Book Preflight panel uses [Basic] preflight profile instead of the indicated working profile

    Hello,

    i noticed some strange behaviour of the Book Preflight panel. While it shows the current working preflight profile as selected, it will instead use InDesigns [Basic] preflight profile. To actually use your desired preflight profile, you have to open the list of profiles and select it (again). Even though it already shows as selected.

    To reproduce this error, i duplicated the [Basic] preflight profile, named it "Test Check" and additionally disallowed RGB color under COLOR > Color Spaces and Modes Not Allowed > RGB. I then selected it as working profile in the preflight settings.

    I then set up a 4 page book file, consisting of 4 seperate InDesign documents, one of them containing an RGB filled object. When i open the books preflight panel, it shows the previously set up working profile as a selected, but won't use it. It will use InDesigns [Basic] profile, which doesn't contain the RGB color check. So the documents all finish checking with no errors.

    Only when i open the books preflight panel a second time, the actually used [Basic] profile shows up as selected. And when i select my actually desired profile, the check finishes as expected.

    Some additional notes for the first "phase", when my working profile shows up wrongly as selected:

    I can click the (already activated) radio button next to it and suddenly the [Basic] profile will show up.

    If i didn't do the above step, i can use the profile drop down and select my (already selected) working profile, and then InDesign will actually use it.

    This isn't a new error, by the way. I encountered first in InDesign 2022. I just upgraded to 2025, this time without importing any previous preferences, so i'm now sure this is an actual bug.

    i noticed some strange behaviour of the Book Preflight panel. While it shows the current working preflight profile as selected, it will instead use InDesigns [Basic] preflight profile. To actually use your desired preflight profile, you have to open the list of profiles and select it (again). Even though it already shows as selected.

    To reproduce this error, i duplicated the [Basic] preflight profile, named it "Test Check" and additionally disallowed RGB color under COLOR > Color Spaces and Modes Not Allowed > RGB. I then selected it as working profile in the preflight settings.
