Drag-and-Drop text editing in Layout view problems
I was working on InDesign layout with Word text with some text originally in Arabic - with some numbers (dates) only for a reason I cannot understand, but it was a text about oriental philosophy... I discovered that my body text paragraph style (for a strange reason) used Adobe Worlld-Ready Single-Line Composer (it was not my choice!). That selection made the one letter Drag-and-Drop editor in the Layout view not work correctly. When I changed the composer to a simple paragraph composer everything is OK again...
Made an experiment - on Latin-based text with World-Redy composer one cannot use Drag-andDrop…2 votes -
CC 2019 - Not all installed fonts show up in in search/font list
When I select a word, want to change the font and type a font that I have installed, it doesnt show up in the search. It does show up in the list though.
In the pictures, for example Alana and AnnabelleJF are in the List, but don't appear when searching for them. (Instead Andalus is showing, which didn't show in the list before...(???)
If i click on the Adobe Fonts Tab ("find more"/"mehr suchen") of course it shows those, but its a big hassle searching for a font and always having to switch between tabs. All installed fonts should…

Make editing text faster
When I want to, for example, remove all "m2" from "### m2" in table rows (20+ rows of table), I have to slow down my clicking, because InDesign doesn't register a selection change (double click to select), if I do it too fast. Woud be good if it was instantaneous like Word.
My process: 1. Double click to select m2. 2. Press backspace or delete. 3. Double click to select next m2. And so on.I know I could find-replace, but sometimes I don't want to set up a find and replace. And it just a little annoyance, which…

RTL Text Bugs Despite "Fixed" Notification
InDesign 20.3.1.073
Dear Adobe InDesign Development Team,
We appreciate your efforts in addressing the RTL text issues introduced with the HarfBuzz engine in InDesign 19 (2024) and the improvements made through version 20.3.1.073.
However, we must bring to your urgent attention that, contrary to your recent "Fixed" notification, several critical bugs remain unresolved, several critical bugs remain unresolved, impacting right-to-left (RTL) workflows (Hebrew & Arabic).Critical Bug:
- #1: Disappearing Punctuation/Text in PDF Export with Drop Cap and Line Break When a drop cap is applied )in justified RTL text( followed by punctuation and a line break, the punctuation marks (and…

Align to decimal tab stop behavior changes to left justified if ligatures present
Indesign 19.5
Create something like a manual numbered list with the first tab set as a decimal tab stop and any word in the first line that contains a ligature.. It can be as simple as "[tab]2. fi".
Expected result is the period would align where the decimal tab stop is set. This will happen up until a ligature is introduced.
Once a ligature is present on the first line, the decimal tab stop behaves like a left-justified tab stop instead.

Indesign v19 (2024) changes line breaks of paragraphs in documents created in v18.5 (2023)
I wanted to export a finished document (a book) made with Indesign Version 18.5 (2023) after updating to Version 19 (2024). After exporting I noticed that the word-wrapping was ruined and images on wrong pages because at some points in the document the line breaks were different and it made the paragraph a line longer than before and thus ruining the following textwrap.
If I open the document with the old indesign version, everything is fine. I compared the preferences and everything is identical. In both cases the paragraphs use the single-line-composer and the justification is not changed either.

Certain placed PDFs look fine but become strange when part of InDesign export to PDF
InDesign version 18.3. The issue is explained thoroughly in this forum thread, with lots of example exports: https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/pdf-export-messes-up-placed-pdf-and-is-affected-by-mark-bleed-settings/m-p/13957529
Summary: If you place either of the attached PDFs (which were made in Word for Mac), and then try to make a PDF from InDesign, the black rectangle that is in the background of the content will change size unexpectedly. It will always look fine in InDesign but mess up when exported. And the degree to which it changes will vary depending on various factors like marks and bleed, which should have nothing to do with the placed PDF.

epub 3 footnote hyperlink character style html is broken (InDesign CC 2020 v15.0)
epub 3 footnote hyperlink character style html is broken. When exporting to an epub 3 with footnotes that contain hyperlinks, the html output is acting strange. See the below for an example as it applies a separate span character style to each word or string.

CC Libraries search slow to input typed letters
With the CC Libraries panel open, clicking inside the search area at the top and typing, often the second letter that is typed is not included.
For example, RIFT would end up being RFT. When highlighting the word and typing again, it is fine.
It seems intermittent and isn't a stuck keyboard key as it works perfectly typing in a text frame.
It could possibly be limited to one or two certain characters such as "i" and "f" as those ones that consistently fail to be entered.

Deselecting "Use Typographer's Quotes" for Excel import doesn't work... unless the paragraph style is set to Language: [No Language]
TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM:
1. Import an Excel document that includes straight quotation marks.
2. In the Import Settings dialogue, uncheck "Use Typographers Quotes."
RESULT:
The quotation marks will be converted from straight to curly.WORKAROUND:
1. Define a paragraph style with "Language" set to "[No Language]."

avoid incorrect sentence breaks
Hello, on your next in design update, I suggest an improvement that would be very useful for correct typographic formatting! For the formatting of a flagged text, it would be nice to be able to prevent line breaks before a two/three letter word, to avoid that the pronoun is separated from the subject (ex: "the" (line break) "house", to have "the house" on one line. I hope you will be able to add this feature, which I think is essential. Thanking you for your help

InDesign 2018 crashing when I go to linked endnote text
I'm working with linked endnotes in InDesign 2018 (version 13.1), but my file originated in InDesign 2015 (I skipped 2017). I have already saved the document as an InDesign 2018 file but seem to be having problems importing a document with linked endnotes.
I'm starting with an old InDesign file because I'm working on volume 2 of a multi-book series and want to maintain all my old styles. I don't know if that's relevant, but I have worked successfully placing linked endnotes from word in previous books already. In this one, the endnote references appear to have links but when…

InDesign hyphenates certain words incorrectly
InDesign hyphenates certain words incorrectly. Examples include "worldview" and "Princeton," which InDesign hyphenates as "worl-dview" and "Princ-eton." I'm in InDesign 17.2.1, but this has been the case for all versions. It would be understandable if these were foreign or unusual words, but common words like this should never break this way.

text
I am having text problems when regular text is near an image and the text which is within the boundary box of the image then text prints out bold. It does not appear bold on screen and the font is definetly regular but ive done some test and where the boudnary image box over hangs into text it then prints out bold mid word or wherever the image boudnary box is. This happens on psd images which have been deppetched and have no background.

Ordinals do not work
The OpenType function „ordinals“ does not function correctly.
When I type English ordinal numbers (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and so on), the option „ordinals“ should move the text characters to the top. When the number is at the beginning of a line, it works. But if there’s another word before the number, it puts only the first character to the top and leaves the second on line. I tried with different fonts, and only with one of the fonts it works as expected. What’s wrong???1 vote -
Spaces are added wheb words with kerning are exported to PDF
InDesign 15.1.2
I have in InDesign file some words with spacing (kerning 150). When exporting to PDF, Instead of this, I receive additional spaces between letters, which I don't want to have. In some cases, it happens that some words are good exported, without spaces, but correct with kerning.
Why is that, what should I do to obtain in PDF words without spaces between letters?1 vote -
When importing tables through tagged text, formatting inexplicably and erratically lost; extra hard returns inserted
- Adobe InDesign 20.5
- Flow the attached .txt files (tagged text) into an InDesign file. you'll need paragraph styles "TABC", "TABH1", "TABTX", and "TAB" (the paragraph for the table). You'll also need table style "TAB" and a cell style "tabtx".
- The last cell in table 19.2 should be empty—no hard return. The the text in row 2, column 3 of table 19.4, "katab" should be italic.
- There's a hard return in the last cell of table 19.2; any text in cell R2C3 in table 19.4 is not ital (but note that the text in table 19.2 at…

images move
I have a large InDesign file for a product catalogue, and when opening it yesterday, for the first time ever since I started working on it many years ago, I realized that some images have shifted position. It almost seems like the kind of problems we get in Microsoft Word when moving images.
My images are anchored objects in text. They should not be moving position randomly. They should stay at the place I have assigned to them, even with text reflowing following text changes.
Why does it do this?
Windows, InDesign 20.0.1 x64.

Ligatures
I loaded the Adobe InDesign CC Ap from Creative cloud, version 14.0.2 x64. The file I had used before now has missing text! Specifically the "fl" in the Active Ingredients list "Isoxaflutole" which now appears as Isoxa utole" throughout the whole book with empty space for the "fl". Even the word "flowables" appears as " owables".
The file seems to have "Ligatures" checked in the character palette which I did not check. I'm using Helvetica fonts.
Any suggestion as to how to get my text back? See attached files.1 vote -
