1. Vertical Text Alignment not working correctly in InDesign 2020

   I recently upgraded to InDesign CC 2020 and find all the text in circles not aligned vertically center. Document was last opened in CC 2019 and these were fine. I haven’t modified these since. Rectangles are fine. See attached example - clearly not right and inconsistently so. I have tried every setting and I can’t get them to line up. Thanks!

   Fix for this issue is now available in the latest update of InDesign 2020 – that is, InDesign 15.0.1

   In the Creative Cloud Desktop application, click on the Updates section on the left. You should be able to see the Update available for InDesign. Please update your InDesign application to this version to try out the fix.

   If you have created documents from ID15.0 where you see this issue, please do a Force Recomposition of the Text Frames (Cmd-Opt-/ on Mac, Ctrl-Alt-/ on Win) to make it work correctly.

   Let us know in the comments section if you face any problem with the updation process.

2. Saving document presets always changes back to pica units

   When creating and saving new document presets, despite choosing a different unit such as inches or points, after hitting the save button, the document preset is only saved in picas unit measurement

3. Grep expressions with ~F in a character class fail in endnotes

   The inclusion of ~F in a character class invalidates grep expressions in endnotes.

   InDesign version: 14.0.2.324 (with the GREP fix installed)

   Steps to reproduce:

   1. Open the attached document. It contains a single page with text and an endnote.
   2. In the GREP tab of the Find/What window, enter the following GREP expression:

   \d[^.,;~F]+

   And target the document. The expression matches from a digit up to the next period, comma, semicolon, or footnote marker.

   Expected result: The expression should match some text in the main text and in the endnote.
   Actual Result: The expression does not match anything in the endnote.

   To show that it's ~F that's the problem, use this expression:

   \d[^.,;]+

   It matches in the main text and in the footnote, as expected.

   The inclusion of ~F in a character class invalidates grep expressions in endnotes.

4. Import PDF Comments - New Bugs identified

   We're facing below issues in the new feature, called 'Import PDF Comments':

   (1) If text frames are overlapped and grouped, PDF comments are not embedding correctly, also updating in wrong places (please refer the attachment 1Error1.png)
   (2) PDF comments are not embedding correctly for the grouped frames (please refer the attachment 2Error2.png)
   (3) PDF comments are not embedding correctly for the sub-frames (please refer the attachment 3Error3.png)

5. Indesign CC 2019 14.0.1 xmp-information for images cannot be copied

   1: Indesign 14.0.1
   2: open any link details for any placed image/XMP-information
   3: I want to copy text from this window to clipboard (like credit-information). This was possible in Indesign 2015.

7. Applying a paragraph style causes text to appear duplicated on screen, but it's not really.

   CC 2018, OS High Sierra, both most current, brand new install on a brand new iMac Pro.

   If I apply a style using a key command, 90% of the time the text from the cursor down goes crazy, looks duplicated. But if I hit the key command again, or click off the paragraph, or scroll, it goes away and is normal. So it's not really duplicating anything as far as I can tell. I screen captured exactly what it looks like.

8. World-Ready Composer Is messing up the kerning in Latin fonts

   I have reported a variation of this—back with CS6—but it seems not to have been fixed. I assume it's a bug, but if someone can enlighten me about what I might be doing wrong and how I can fix this, I'd appreciate it.

   I often work on books that include Arabic and Hebrew words and phrases in the middle of English text. They only way to get the Arabic ligatures to form is to use one of the World Ready composers. When I do that, though, the kerning around some English characters often—but not always—is affected. I have tried turning on and off various settings—justification settings, kashidas, etc.—and their effect seems to be random. Sometimes the changes fix the problem until the page redraws, sometimes the errant kerning is corrected in one location but shows up in another location, sometimes nothing happens at all. I'm attaching two screen captures of a book that I have in production now with the word "economics" selected in each. In the shot with the World-Ready Paragraph Composer active, you can see the extra kerning between the "e" and the "c." In the shot with the WRPC deactivated, the word looks as it should.

   Is this a bug? If not, what am I doing wrong? If it is, when might we expect a fix. Unfortunately, I have a deadline on this project now and can't see any reasonable way to fix this. Thanks for considering this problem.

10. Text rendered bold when using transparencies

    When using transparent boxes or png images, InDesign will randomly render some text bold. This occurs both on screen and when printing. The only way to avoid it is by not using transparencies, which is annoying. People have been complaining about this since 2011! Get your sh*t together adobe. Come on.

12. Icon Panels do not expand correctly when Application Frame is OFF.

    Recurring issue from one InDesign upgrade to the next! Found 2- and 6-year old reports of the same bug. In-between updates fix it but reoccurs with every new upgrade...

    ISSUE
    When Application Frame is disabled, panels that are on the right side of the screen don't expand towards the left as they normally would but to the right.
    The bigger the UI scaling size, the more to the right of the screen the panel expansion moves, soon disappearing altogether. Only smallest sizing allows to display properly.

13. On waking Mac from sleep, open documents are grayed out on external monitor.

    If I put my MacBook Pro to sleep with work on an external monitor, when I turn it on at another place with an external monitor, all open documents are grayed out and do not display any object. The objects are selectable, but I can't see what's in them. Switching display modes, minimizing or dragging between displays doesn't help either.

14. Application Window 'resizes to bottom-half of screen' after waking Mac from sleep.

    There is an issue with Adobe apps while using Mac M1 with an external monitor. When put in sleep, the windows and palettes move to the bottom half of the screen.

    The issue of Application Window getting resized after waking Mac machine from sleep has been addressed in InDesign 2024 19.2 Release.

15. The Book panel does not remember its size and location

    The Book panel is the only panel in InDesign that doesn't remember its size and position when you close and re-open it.

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Create a new book (File > New > Book). The book panel is shown at the centre of the screen. No need to add documents to it.
    2. Move the panel to another location on the screen, and change its size in the usual way (click-drag on a corner of the panel).
    3. Save the book and close it.
    4. Re-open the book.

    Expected behaviour: the book panel is opened at the same location and at the same size as when you closed it.

    Actual behaviour: the book panel is opened at the centre of the screen at the size it was when you created it.

    The Book panel is the only panel in InDesign that doesn't remember its size and position when you close and re-open it.

    Steps to reproduce:

    Book panel is a special type of panel that is always associated with the .INDB file – unlike other panels where there is no actual association with a file on disk. The panel also shows the name of the Book file. If that INDB file is deleted, then the panel does not have any meaning.
    Only when the Book file is opened is the Book panel available. So it can’t be part of a workspace & thus its size and location also can’t be fixed as there could be multiple Book files that can be opened simultaneously.

16. Artifact Tagging

    InDesign now ignores it half the time when I designate an object as an artifact in the object export options panel. I run an accessibility check on the PDF and those objects come up as errors in the alternate text check, and I have to manually desginate them all as artifacts within Acrobat. I know this is a new issue, because I've been working with the same template for several years and locked down all the objects that were supposed to remain the same month to month. Never has a problem until the 2020 update.

17. ALT Text not appearing in group

    InDesign 2020

    Issue: I have a screenshot with alt text included (typed in the Object Export Options dialogue). I then have a simple red box (rectangle tool, no fill, 2pt stroke) highlighting a section of that screenshot. When I group those objects, and export a tagged PDF, I get an error in Acrobat stating that no alt text exists.

    Expected result: Alt text should appear.

    Actual result: No alt text is present, or the assigned alt text is not recognized and is flagged by Acrobat's accessibility checker.

    This issue did not exist with ID 2019.

18. Cells formatted as Number/Currency etc. in Excel without decimal places or as Date not imported correctly into InDesign.

    MacOS : 10.13.6
    MS Excel : 16.30 for Mac

    We were able since ever (last version ID CC 2019) to import Excel data-cells by InDesign with the placing functionality. With the actual version of InDesign CC 2020 numbers without any decimal places (e.g. 153) are not imported from Excel files and are displayed in InDesign with a "0" - (e.g. 153 imports to InDesign as 0). If the numbers in the Excel files have at least 1 decimal place numbers are imported correctly (e.g. 153.6 imports to InDesign as 153.6). Please fix this InDesign CC 2020 as soon as possible. An please in InDesgin CC 2019 Excel-Numbers with a sign for thousands place (e.g. 2'153) imported with a non correct sign (e.g. 2'153 imports to InDesgin CC 2019 as 2Õ153). Please verify this also.

    We were able since ever (last version ID CC 2019) to import Excel data-cells by InDesign with the placing functionality. With the actual version of InDesign CC 2020 numbers without any decimal places (e.g. 153) are not imported from Excel files and are displayed in InDesign with a "0" - (e.g. 153 imports to InDesign as 0). If the numbers in the Excel files have at least 1 decimal place numbers are imported correctly (e.g. 153.6 imports to InDesign as 153.6). Please fix this InDesign… more

    Fix for this issue is now available in the latest update of InDesign 2020 – that is, InDesign 15.0.1

    In the Creative Cloud Desktop application, click on the Updates section on the left. You should be able to see the Update available for InDesign. Please update your InDesign application to this version to try out the fix.

19. PDF Hyphenation Bug when line has cross-reference, hyphenated word, and option is to create Tagged PDF

    When exporting an InDesign document to PDF, the hyphenated word is displayed incorrectly in the output PDF.

    It only happens with a line that has cross-reference object, hyphenated word, and option is to create Tagged PDF.

    InDesign 2019 (14.0.1) (MAC/PC) . Also tried it with previous versions and it has the same issue.

20. Background Tasks stuck on "Cancelling"

    I was exporting multiple PDFs that were not exporting properly. When I figured out they were stuck, I manually cancelled the export in "Background Tasks". Both tasks have been "Cancelling" for two days. I cannot close the files nor can I close InDesign.
