1. Paste without formatting option disappeared, CTRL+Shift+V not working

   There was previously an option to Paste with Formatting and Paste Without Formatting, and after recent updates, the options have disappeared and paste functioning is working incorrectly. I used both of these functions for various reasons, and would greatly appreciate it coming back! I could use CTRL+Shift+V to paste without formatting, or, if I clicked into a text box and right clicked, there were for options: Cut | Copy | Paste | Paste Without Formatting. Now, only the first three appear as options and I've lost the fourth function. There are times when I WANT to paste with formatting, though mostly I paste without formatting. Now, I don't see a Right-Click menu option for "paste without formatting" and even using CTRL+Shift+V is not working. Now, the default paste seems to be "without formatting" except even then, it's pasting with the incorrect formatting - not retaining the original settings from Word, nor adopting the settings I'm pasting into. This is a significant in-efficiency as I'm having to redo paragraph styles for all paragraphs, instead of it overlaying the text I want to replace and maintaining the InDesign paragraph styles I had with the previous text.

   I'm in v17.2.1; recently upgraded to Windows 11 also.

2. stalls intermittently, seconds to minutes of spinning beach ball or Application not responding

   Stalls to a spinning beach ball intermittently during use. Add images in frames, move images or add text, what-ever, it suddenly just stalls and can take seconds to minutes before clearing. CS6, the CC2017 worked fine. Now CC2018 seems to have regressed in performance. I have to FORCE QUIT at times. MacOS Sierra 10.12.6

   We had launched our investigation into the matter to get to the root cause of the problem. As the part of our investigation, we had reached out to many of you personally over email.
   We have concluded our investigation and have come up with few findings.

   1. For many of the users the issue got fixed after updating InDesign to a newer version.
   2. For some, the issue got resolved after disabling a third-party application such as Suitecase fusion etc.
   3. For few, the issue was intermittent and is no longer reproducible.
   4. For majority of the users, the underlying cause of the performance issue was identified to be related to span columns, cross-references, third party plugin etc.

   We have created separated threads for these issues and we are now working towards resolving them.

   However, over the time this thread has become too generic to serve its purpose effectively. As per your feedback and the outcome of our investigation we have created multiple threads to address each root cause separately and effectively.

3. Rulers exceeding text boundaries, only paragraph shading or offsets seem to be able to limit them

   The excess rulers that go beyond the text boundary can only be removed (or masked, not sure which is actually happening) with paragraph shading.

   As a rule, rulers should not go beyond the text boundary, and they should adapt to the text boundary (if font size have been changed, or if other changes have been made that affect the layout).

   But the green arrows show that in some cases the boundary is correct.

   It shouldn't be necessary to add both offsets and paragraph shading to get the rulers right.

   The paragraph shading trick is not a real solution, that I guess is just overlapping the rulers but it does not trim them.

4. File Info > Raw Data panel doesn't allow to select text and search

   The File Info > Raw Data panel stopped working as expected:

   -The search field doesn't work
   -It's impossible to even select text in the panel

   I'm pretty sure it worked earlier - so something probably got broken recently.

5. Adobe InDesign 2024(v19.0) - For Hebrew Text, after applying Forced line break -The character direction changes to Left-to-right direction.

   When typing a paragraph in Hebrew there is a problem when doing Forced line break. The character direction become Left-to-right direction, insted of keeping the Right-to-left direction.

7. Can't wrap the first line of a page

   If I place an anchored image at the very start of the page, the first line does not wrap, it disappears behind the image. One solution in the forum was: Make an invisible line of 0pt. Are you kidding me?

8. spellchecker causes InDesign to crash

   I've had this occur across multiple files; some new, some old.
   I cannot stop the behaviour from happening despite cache and com. dumps, prefernence resets, etc. - whenever I run Spellchecker InDesign disappears/crashes. I'm losing money constantly as I'm a designer who outputs a lot of multi page brochures, books, magazines, etc. and my efficiency has ground to a halt.

9. Hanging drop cap has wrong indents in 2023 v18

   In v18 (2023), when a paragraph has both a drop cap and a hanging indent (negative first line indent), the indent gets messed up on subsequent lines.

   This came from a bug report by Lut Van Nooten on the InDesign Secrets LinkedIn group:

   The solution is to disable the new Composition Preference: "Honor Text Indents in addition to Text Wrap"

   However, in this case, this is clearly a bug because there is no text wrap!

10. Endnote references are not importing when placing word documents

    I am placing a word 365 document into InDesign 2020 with endnotes ticked to be included and the endnote references are not importing. In the past the endnote references will display in-text and a full endnote reference list will display on the last page in one text box. I have tried using 2018/2019 with the same result. This appears to be a new bug. I have attached screenshots of the Word document with endnotes displayed and the InDesign document after placing the same word document which shows the endnotes have not been imported. Also an anchored text box is also displayed in place of the first endnote reference. The text displayed in the box is not the endnote reference text.

    Hyperlinks to text anchors in separate interactive pdfs not working Indesign 19.5 & 19.4.
    1. create two pages with text anchors at the top. each page has two buttons, one leading the the other pdf (see files attached) each doc exported as Interactive PDF. In abode Acrobat (or any pdf reader) when you click the button it will not open the linked document.
    This feature does work in Indesign 19.3. But I would like to be able to update to the latest versions....

12. In InDesign CC 2019 slow Reaction Time on clicking from one object to another.

    Using InDesign CC 14.0 on Windows 10. I have an magazine layout with text and picture boxes, of course. When clicking from one box to another, there is a long delay, a temporary freeze. Eventually (20-30 seconds) it awakens and I can move on. But it's happening more frequently, even after a reboot.

    Is this an issue of my computer talking to Adobe servers?

    Nothing to screen shot, there is no message.

13. Indesign CC 2018 Crash

    Issues with the updated Indesign crashing when inserting any text or images. Comes up with Indesign stopped working crash error.

    Major issue as this is part of my job... How do I revert back to the old one whilst this is fixed??

    We have fixed a number of crashes with InDesign’s latest Nov’17 update.
    Please download the latest InDesign version (InDesign CC 13.0.1) for the fix.

    The fix of the issue is now available in the latest InDesign 2024(v19.5.0.084). We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.

15. table of contents bold italic

    1. Use a style for a header that converts text to bold face.

    2. Use that header style to have header text that includes some italics.

    3. In the Table of Contents pane, associate that header style with a style that is Regular type face.

    4. When updating the Table of Contents, the entry for that header will correctly have Bold text replaced with Regular text, but will leave Bold Italic text unchanged. It should replace Bold Italic text with Regular Italic text.

16. Change Format selection for "Change Case" disappears after altering Find Format

    Indesign 2025
    When searching for a style for which I want to perform a change case operation, it works fine. If I then want to change the style that I'm searching for, when I confirm that change and return to the main window of find/replace, the parameters for the "change format" window get wiped out...I believe this only happens with change case. I tested this by changing the case in the Basic formats to "all caps". I found that if I used any other parameter, or any other parameter in conjunction with the new "change case"...the "Change Format" parameters remained...but when only using the change case parameter, "Change Format" gets wiped out if you choose a different style or parameter in "Find Format".

    In short, the first time works. If you then try to change the Find Format selection, the Change Format selection for "Change Case" gets wiped out.

17. Underlining out of position when text in a table cell uses a World-Ready composer

    When the text in a table cell uses a World-Ready composer and is underlined, the underlining in the last line is out of position. The invisible end-of-cell mark is underlined, but the first character in the line is only partially underlined. The workaround I've been using is to add a nonjoiner character at the beginning of the line. Doing so shifts the underlining into the correct position.

    1. Adobe InDesign 18.2.1
    2. Type enought text in a table cell to fill at least two lines; justify it with either of the World-Ready composers; underline the last line of text.

18. Fill with Placeholder Text doesn’t automatically change the font and characters for that language when holding ⌘ and choosing that from menu

    when holding down ⌘ key and choose Type-> fill w place holder text, there’s a pop up menu that you can choose which language you want to fill in, and it did fill with placeholder text, However it didn’t fill in text with that language and choosing a font that suits that language, or even ragged left if it’s Arabian language.

    I need more inputs from you to get to the bottom of the issue.

    Please confirm if the issue happens only with Mojave. Was it working fine before upgrading to Mojave?

    Are CMD/opt keys working fine in other workflows?

19. Text rendering bug during regular works and also in the presentation mode

    Hello, I am facing a strange text rendering bug in the InDesign v18.4 on my Mac Pro 7,1 during regular work on the InDesign document (it doesn't matter which one), mainly while using magnifying glass tool (zoom in / zoom out) and during the presentation mode (see video and screenshots).

20. Imported PDF comments not accurate

    1. ID 14 Mac
    2. Import PDF comments from file, including strikethroughs, replaced text, comments
    3. Some edits NOT SHOWN in ID file, though clearly present when PDF is viewed in Acrobat
    4. Faithful transfer of all edits to ID file (note non-transferred strikethrough of Highlights of Baltics in bottom quarter of screendump)

    Hello All,

    Thank you for reporting the issue to us.
    We have fixed the issue in the latest version of InDesign, Id 14.0.3

    Please upgrade your InDesign application to the latest version to try out the fix.

    If you are unable to see the update yet, go to Creative Cloud desktop application, open the menu (three dots) from the top-right corner and click on ‘Check For App Updates’.

    If you face any problems with the new update, do let us know in the comments.
