can't type in text box
I create a text box, but when I type in it, no text appears. My keyboard works, and the rest of InDesign's functions work. And I'm updated to the most recent version of INDD--v16.1.

InDesign overset text copies entire document
InDesign is creating a problem wherein I finish an entire document and it still says there is overset text. When I create a new frame to put it into to see what it is, I find that InDesign has duplicated the text of the entire document. When I try to delete the extra, it just copies the text over and over and puts it right back, including if I try to delete the frame that the extra text is inside of. How do I make this stop?

V18.4-18.5 Text boxes shrinking fractional and hiding last line of text PLUS then 'over-set text' error message not flagging this problem up
I sent a job to print and after it came back 3 text boxes had shrunk fractionally to hide the last line of text. When I then went to make a press-ready pdf, it didn't flag up this error by warning me of "over-set text", so I did not catch this problem in time.
Please see attached files -
My stage 5 of the document, and then the final artwork file for it, with the boxes highlighted.
I didn't get any warning messages for 'over-set text' to flag this missing text up.

InDesign Performance issue: Lag in reflowing of text in a document with large number of footnotes
iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2015)
macOS Sierra
2.8 GHz Intel Core i5
16gb Ram
Indesign 14.0.1Reflowing Bug when Resizing Text Box with Footnotes. As you can see in the video, the following page turns blank when I resize a text box to fit more content. Also, every I do this, the lag is noticeable. I tried with InDesign CC2018 and its more responsive.

Create outlines in a document with conditional text crashes
I have four InDesign templates created, two use conditional text while the other two do not. I have no problem creating outlines of the document without the conditional text. Every time I try to create outlines of a page in a document with conditional text, I get the endless spinning wheel and have to force quit.

Please update to this version to get the fix.

Please Allow Mutliple Text Modification!
I HATE that I have to literally individually select each text in order for me to manipulate it in any way whether its changing the colors or size or the formatting. Its SUPER annoying and makes me and most of my classmates want to avoid using inDesign at all costs. We use it because our teacher makes us and there aren't many ways to do text formatting on illustrator. But on illustrator it can be easily done by just selecting all the text or using the eyedropper tool. But on indesign there are these stupid useless features like text box…

Honor Word Break Boundaries for Overflowing Text / Line Breaking for Non-ZWSP Text
Lao (SEA Asian) text that doesn't already have ZWSPs included, doesn't automatically line-break, even though double-select word selection shows that the ICU/HarfBuzz engine is finding them. It would be nice to be able to set for paragraphs the ability to use non-ZWSP text and have ID automatically line-break based on the ICU/HarfBuzz word boundaries.
Not all people will want this, should it should be made easy to enabled/disable, because some people use ZWSPs to manually control layout features, and don't prefer automatic word-boundary analysis.

Text box adds extra space...?
Text Boxes are adding extra space. I do not have any space after or tabs or anything else in my paragraphs.
I am very keen on having all my text boxes fit to perfect size especially for this file because I am creating a fillable form and don't want oversized text boxes. I also keep them to their size to make sure everything is perfect.

Adobe InDesign 2020 - All text in my Indesign file that contains hyperlinks disappear
(cont.) even though the hyperlinks panel show the links themselves the text is gone and I can't get it back. Hours of work is gone.
I first started seeing the text is pushed together in the epubs I would export, especially moreso on the words with hyperlinks. After fixing a few things I export another epub and it is completely gone and it is also gone in the indd and idml files.

Text appears heavier over a transparent image
When text is in a layer above an image that has its basic blending mode set to "multiply" the text is rendered with a darker outline. This does not appear in the final PDF, only the preview, but it makes it extremely difficult to judge font sizes and whether text is bold.
To reproduce:
- Create text in a text box.
- Insert a JPEG image on the page.
- Use the Arrange option on the image to "send to back" so that it is in a layer below the text
- Use Effects > Transparency on the image and set its blending mode…

Texte disappear when replacing font by another using Find a font in the Texte menu
Using the command "Search for a font" in the "Text Menu" to replace a font (Times New Roman for example) by another (Adobe Garamond Pro for example), the texte disappear, it is erased if I valid "Replace All".
I have to verify it works for the first occurrences before to validate "Replace All" to be sure the bug will not occur.
This is very insecure if we don't verify and trust the command "eyes closed" !1 vote -
Highlighting text in a table does not highlight the corresponding text in the story editor
CC2020
When I highlight text in a table, I would expect the same text to appear highlighted in the story editor. Instead, the story editor jumps to the beginning of the document.
Kind regards

auto page numbering does not work with auto-size text box
The auto-sizing text box should resize depending on number and not the 'marker character'
I'm pretty sure it used to work that way.4 votes -

Library text frame auto-size error
Product: Adobe InDesign
Version: 20.2
Platform: macOS
Issue type: Bug
Severity: Moderate
Reproducible: AlwaysSteps to reproduce:
1. Create a text frame with a single character (e.g. “X”).
2. Enable Auto-Size (Height only).
3. Save the text frame to the Library.
4. Place the frame into a layout from the Library.Expected result:
Text frame should retain Auto-Size setting and adjust to the content’s height.Actual result:
Auto-Size is disabled, and the frame stretches from the insertion point to the bottom of the text frame area / margin, even though there’s only one character inside.Workaround:

Fit Frame to Content multicolumn text frame
InDesign 18.3 but has been doing this for many years.
Draw a single column text frame next to a multicolumn text frame, have the same number of lines in both frames, apply Fit Frame to Content with any method to both frames, they will most likely not be the same height. You can change the width of the multicolumn frame and then Fit Frame to Content might get closer.
Should be the same height if all text styling is the same.
Variable height on the multicolumn frame, doing Fit Frame to Content a few times and can change it each…

anchored text boxes move unexpectedly when resized
For some time, when you anchor a text box within a table cell or another text box and resize it, it does not appear to have a fixed point that it is resizing from so dragging from any point causes the anchored text box to jump up or move in an unexpected direction. Thus, to make a tiny tweak to the size of the anchored box requires a lot of effort (multiple nudges in various directions) to get it to where it should be instead of just one click and drag and it staying put as you resize.
