  1. Update linked text from CC Libraries without effecting styles

Please add an opinion to "Place Linked" text without effecting the style after an edit to the text. Imagine the text in the CC Libraries is the master. This master text could be placed in many documents with different styles. Let say your company has a tagline. The tagline could be a different font size in each document. This way you could keep a master product description and place it in many documents with different styles.

    Thank You

  2. Rectangle frames that link to each other so images reflow when one is added or removed like text does in text boxes.

Please make rectangle frames able to be linked so images flow from one frame to the next like can be done with type boxes and text. I work on a 450 page catalog and sometimes there are images that get removed and currently we have to shift all of the images by hand. If the rectangle frames were linked we could delete an image and have the remaining images reflow automatically.

  5. Place Linked IDMS

It would be awesome if we could link a IDMS file or be able to add a InDesign file to CC Libraries and be able to place that into another InDesign file. This would be great for reusing pieces of text or layout that occasionally gets updated in multiple documents. When place the IMDS there could be an option to keep the link so if the version in the library is updated so is the placed version or to place a copy that does not stay associated with the one in the Library.

I know it is possible to place…

  6. Allow cross-reference to document not currently open

I am writing a book, in the form on an InDesign Book. It has 18 chapters, each in its own document. Often I want to add a cross-reference link to a paragraph in another document in the book, but the only choices I'm given are to other documents ALREADY open in InDesign. Please let me do that. I do not need to see the other document in order to know that I want to link to it. It clutters up my workspace.

  7. Cross Reference / Hyperlink - EDITING FACILTY

    Overview
I work on large catalogues all day (over 500 pages) and unfortunately the previous designers didnt have a naming convention for the hundreds of cross references. As a result its a MESS of meaningless names and broken links.

    Research.
I have looked over the internet to find a solution but there doesn't seem to be one (i found a script that looked promising but it didn't work).

    Request.
It would be great to have a panel that lists all the links/cross ref. in the document that allows you to RENAME, DELETE or EDIT the existing links.

  8. Improvements to "space between" feature

    Hello, InDesign people!

The new "space between paragraphs using the same style" feature is a wonderful thing, and it is useful, but I feel it could be improved upon. In practice, there may be several different paragraph styles that should be regarded as the "same style" for this purpose. For instance, say I am designing a book with poetry extracts (block quotes) mixed into the main text. Before we had the "space between" feature, I had to make a paragraph style for the first line of a poem (with space before), a second style for the subsequent lines (no paragraph…

  9. Add Creative Cloud Libraries to InCopy

InCopy users would find CC Libraries very useful in many situations. Why aren't they part of the CC Library party?

They could import selected graphics from a shared CC Lib to the story (as anchored graphics), same as they can Place them now. They could use them to bring in boilerplate text via linked InDesign text. They could use them to add styles to their standalone InCopy docs (eg, the body style for the INDD file the story will be flowed into). I'm sure there are more uses!

  10. Export all data from the Links folder to Excel/.csv format

Please, please, please make the entire Links panel exportable to an Excel (or .csv) file. I just spent five hours capturing all information for hundreds of placed images ONE AT A TIME. How nice it would be to be able to export the entire contents of the Links panel with one click. I know that it is do-able.

    Thank you!

  11. Restore several links to a Library

Create a function to update the links in the Libraries in the same way as for a local folder.
I had to move my libraries to a new Cloud following a change of plan. All the links no longer work. Even if I give the path to a link, INDD isn't able to restore the other links in the same library as it can in a local folder. I have thousands of links to restore manually!

  12. Outline type when exporting PDF

For various reasons, I export most of my high-res PDFs with the type outlined. Once a piece is finalized, I'll duplicate any pages in the file, then outline the type before exporting. It's not ideal (it confuses anyone new who comes in and has to work with our files), but it works.

The downfall is that, if there are any links using live type, that won't get outlined. And if it's a multi-page document, we wind up with a LOT of outlining and a ton of pages.

It would be AMAZING if InDesign included the option to outline all…

  13. Page jump links

Hi! Just finished a document for a client. I had to export it to pdf and create all the page jump links in Acrobat. InDesign wouldn't let me keep the links I created when exporting to pdf. Hyperlinks, yes they work great. Page jump links for documents? We NEED this for client brochures, flipping books etc. I will be giving this artwork to the InHouse team so it's very clunky to have to give them the Packaged InDesign file and a pdf that contains all the selected areas that link to page jumps. I beg…

  14. More relevant Share for Review page title

I've recently started using the Share for Review feature which is great, however when sharing the link on Skype (as well as other messaging platforms I'd assume), it shows the link title as “Your Work | Adobe Creative Cloud” which isn’t very accurate or helpful to whoever I’m sharing the review page with.

It would be ideal if the HTML title of the review page could contain the title I input when I set up the review page, so that the link preview is much more relevant for someone you might be sharing it with.

  15. Repackage

If you edit a file in a package with external links, a REPACKAGE option should put all links that are not in the LINKS folder there.

extra; CLEAN PACKAGE should remove all files that are not used in the package.

This would avoid having to make a fresh package after every edit

  16. Merge variables for color that can be used in styles and as swatches

    Merge doc variables for colour.

An option on the colour swatch to add a reference to link to a merged variable from a csv for a hex, rgb or cmyk colour. This would allow specific swatches to update styles in a document for text color, lines, background colors etc if a document defined style uses that particular swatch.

  17. Shutterstock watermark alert

The Shutterstock plugin is a great tool for easy access to the image database. Drag and drop the desirable picture into the lay-out.
It would help if watermark pictures would be detected while exporting to pdf.

  18. Package items included on pasteboard

Basically our agency puts together loads of creative presentations in inDesign.

A great way to do this is having mock-ups on main page, but build an associated inDesign editable graphic and we normally put that to the side so if we need to make changes we can do on fly and get the editable file right which we can then very quickly update a PSD smart object mock-up for example. So we can keep all workings in one ID doc and it is easy to manage.

But if you package work it doesn’t include pasteboard links and I can…

  19. Password Protection in the new Review panel

Include a password protection field in the new review tab. Allow it to be toggled on and off. When a review is sent, and a password is created, send the password in the same email as the review link.

  20. Text Frame Auto-Size in story mode (linked frames)

    Dear Indesign Development Team,

Please fix the Auto-Size Text Frame feature in InDesign. When running a story through multiple text frames the Auto-Size feature does not work. The feature should recognize the Frame Break or Column Break symbol as the end of the text in a frame and Auto-Size the frame accordingly. Please! I am tired of hacking my way through features to get the result I want while I feel it should be real simple.

Comment and vote if you agree.
