Inline search filter for all styles panels and swatches
Alle styles and swatches panels should have an inline search filter to narrow down large lists of styles (similar to the quick apply window and the layer panel in Photoshop).

Let InDesign remember the last chosen size of the app window on screen.
Like many people I work on a very large screen, and I have to refit the extend of the window every time I start InDesign. I think the problem is the same across most of your apps. Windows 10 btw.2 votes -
Import Text Variables using .csv
Currently the only way I can see to import a list of text variables is via another .indd. It's tedious to manage a ~10,000 text variables (prices in a catalogue) within the text variable window in InDesign. It would be great to manage these variables in Excel and then be able to import the .csv into InDesign, to change the variables instantly.
The import table feature is a good way to do this, but only if the prices are displayed in a table. My prices are all separate text frames.
Thanks

Allow document to be editable while using "FIND FONT"
Add the ability to edit and interact with the underlying document while the FIND FONT window is open (just like we can do while the regular FIND/CHANGE window is open)
When FIND FONT is open, the ONLY thing we can do is locate/substitute fonts. We aren't able to interact with the document in any other way. Often while using FIND FONT to locate where missing fonts are used, we find that the issue is actually just some text that we forgot to style properly, or a rogue invisible character that should simply be deleted. But in order to accomplish any…

Trash/clear out Find/Change completely
The ability to trash everything in the find/change window so you can start fresh with a brand new search. Right now you have to delete things like “change format” individually and each field stays filled in. This is nice if you are keeping something in your search for a while, but not when you want to start fresh.

In the save dialogue box in Windows add a show all option so we can see what's in the folder.
We see empty folders instead of files in our folders. We don't have the option as it's not programmed into the save dialogue - hopefully this will change :)

Styles UI needs to keep up with the times
Styles are implemented in InDesign since... well, for ever. The options and settings grew a lot over the years BUT it still looks and feels the same. Old and unflexible. There is a styles window with your collected styles and to edit those you have your Style Options window. Basically that´s it.
Practically that means you have to open each style individually, make your changes individually (although you want equally changes), check if design and layout still works, edit each style... again... individually.
Please find a way to improve working/handling styles e.g. for collective changes or simultaneously opening multiple Style…

Open images from Package window
The package window is perfect to discover issues and problems with document or images. But when I find problems with image (RGB profile for example) why is not possible to open in Photoshop directly from that window with double clic? I have to write the name of the files and the number of page and go there to open them...

Not truncating filenames in window when relinking
I'd say this is self explanatory and has always been a bug bear to me.

Add "Uncheck all" to Strokes and Fills window
When formatting complex tables, it is time consuming to uncheck strokes one by one. Why not have an "Uncheck All" feature

Improve Preflight
Isn’t it about time for an update and some enhancements to this great feature? Some suggestions:
- Change the default Preflight Profile to something realistic for quality printing. The absence of warnings is misleading, making people think that everything is fine.
- Divide the check for “Protected fonts” into two categories: 1. Fonts which do not allow embedding in PDF, 2. Activated Adobe fonts (the existing behaviour of flagging Adobe fonts as “not allowed” causes a lot of confusion)
- Change the wording “Transparency not allowed” to just “Transparency” Transparency is rarely a problem nowadays, though it is still good to check whether…

Paragraph Styles Larger Tab Markers
I use windows 11 with a display settings at 125% scale and monitors set to 3440x1440 resolution. I use a magnified mouse cursor as well. When using the Paragraph Styles Tab feature, the tab stop markers are so small it makes it very difficult to select them to adjust their position. I would like to see the User Interface designed with larger tab stop markers or a dialogue box that allows for input of the left align and hanging indent settings.

Ability to scroll/move on page while style options window is open
In earlier versions of InDesign this was possible. Now I can only zoom in and out. While editing my styles I want to be able to still zoom AND scroll/move on the pages in order to see the changes where the take effect.

Option to freeze zoom so it always remains on "fit spread in window" even when searching
When working on a large monitor where facing pages easily fit and are still readable, it would be very handy to be able to “freeze” the current zoom so it is kept when searching. As it is now, when one goes through a document finding the next occurrence, the zoom keeps focusing on the found spot, but on a large screen it would be much more agreeable and less strenuous on the eyes if there were the option for the zoom to remain on "fit spread in window"

Can we have a UI that makes it clear when InDesign is the active window?
The current crop of CC app interfaces give no visual indication that an application frame is active if it doesn't actually overlap another one on the screen. Unless the ruler is active, there is NO visual cue to tell the user that InDesign has focus, for example, and even the ruler change is non-obvious.
The problem is with the nonsensical suite-wide UI change that eliminated even the Windows title bar, which gives a very clear indication whether a window has focus. I assume some exec who flunked UX 101 has the idea that designers only work with one window at…

Keyboard command for resizing content within a picture box
Quark allows one to resize an image within a picture box using key commands. Could this key command please be added to ID. It's wonderful: To resize a picture in 5% increments using keyboard shortcuts, press Command+Option+Shift+> (Mac OS) or Ctrl+Alt+Shift+> (Windows). To enlarge, and Command+Option+Shift+< (Mac OS) or Ctrl+Alt+Shift+< (Windows) to reduce.

Managing multiple tabs in InDesign is an abomination
Managing multiple tabs in InDesign is an abomination. Firstly, the tolerance between reshuffling tabs and pulling a tab out to a separate window is far too small. Try doing this on a 4K screen, move your mouse a couple of millimetres up or down and all of a sudden your tab is now it's own window. Worse still is that when you pull it back into the tabs, it goes right to the back.
This leads me to my second issue. The lack of any way to reshuffle tabs that have multiple tabs in between. There are two ways to…

Allow pop-up panels such as paragraph styles editor to be resized
When the operating system font size and/or software UI scale is increased it causes the bottom of the panel to be too long and clipped off under the Windows taskbar. Most of the panel is just empty grey space so can be scaled down without losing any of the contents.

Add macOS Core Image Filters as Native Object Effects in InDesign (e.g., Vibrancy, Gaussian Blur, Glass Distortion)
Please add support for macOS Core Image filters (e.g., CIGaussianBlur, CIVibrancy, CIBloom, CIGlassDistortion) as native, real-time object effects within InDesign. These filters are already GPU-accelerated and supported natively by macOS. Tapping into this framework would allow InDesign to offer real-time visual effects like frosted glass, material-style blurs, and ambient glow — without the need to pre-render images in Photoshop.
For designers: Effects like vibrancy, translucency, blur, and light diffusion are increasingly common in modern design — not just in UI/UX, but in packaging, promotional layouts, and publication work. These are time-consuming to fake using raster-based workarounds. Having real-time effects…
