  2. Easy drag and drop to base one text style on another

I would love for an easy drag and drop to base one text style on another in the paragraph and character style palettes. The idea is to drag a paragraph style (para) that you want to base on and drop onto another style (parafirst or paralast). I work on book designs with lots and lots of style tags. It will save designers so much time to do it all in the palettes instead of opening up each style and scroll through the style list every time.

In addition, similar to how we apply parent/master pages to pages, it’d…

  3. Curvilinear text tool on several lines

Instead of limitating the use of this tool to one line, you should be able to make a paragraph based on the shape you use the curvilinear tool on.

For instance, if i want to write on the edge of a wheel divided in different parts, so that the text follows the shape of the circle. Let's say that the name of the wheel's part is a three lines title, when i press enter, indesign would create another circle on wich the text would follow the curve. see atached picture

  4. "Ignore Text Wrap" checkbox in Toolbar / Accessible in Quick Apply

    1. A box in the Toolbar to check "Ignore text wrap" - for this box; And either/or make the command accessible in the quick apply list.

    2. I find that I am doing this a lot to play around with designs to adapt - or not - to a image run-around. I don't want to have to find if there is a shortcut that might address this or a script.

  5. Allow object styles to be applies to all threaded text boxes

I have a couple of threaded text frames. I would like them to all have the same object style, which also includes a paragraph style in them.

As of now, indesign officially states that threaded text boxes can't share these settings. I can see why this makes sense in certain conflicting situations, but it is definitely required in many situations (just as I'm really needing it now).

I think it's fair for indesign to at least have it as an option that can be turned on or off - the option to apply object styles (e.g. paragraph styles) across…

  6. [ID-4262126] Negative value for object style position

When placing a frame in the bleed area (-3mm), inDesign won't allow me to set the position of an image frame to -3mm, it has to be a positive value. Meaning I have to position image frames on the left-hand page manually, rendering the feature useless on the left hand page of each spread... If you can set the value to a negative amount in the regular coordinates palette why wouldn't this be mirrored in the styles?

  7. Add "insert text at cursor" to Review tools

Share for Review is great - however why was the "insert text" tool left out of the review tools? I do reviews every day and the 3 most important tools are "delete text", "replace text" and "insert text at cursor" - to know exactly where added text should go. It's part of the PDF commenting tools since forever - why was it left out of this Review function? Please add it, we can't offer this solution to our stakeholders without it.

  8. Content Placer Tool Place Into Existing Frame

The behaviour should be exactly the same when i place a document with the Place... option. Hold the alt key, the pointer shows two opening brackets to indicate the Paste into function and Done. Currently I cant place collected content into frames. I always have to click and drag new ones.

  9. no vertical justification on last column

Implement a setting which will prevent the last column being justified vertically. Currently you have to add a separate text box that is set to align top to prevent this

  10. Simple text editor for mobile devices

I would love a simple text editor - something not so function-focused as InCopy. Something where i can be interviewing someone and take down quotes. Or if I'm inspired at a restaurant - to pull out my ipad or my phone and just start writing. And then have that text autosave as a cloud document for when I'm back at my desktop.

Sort of like Premiere Rush, but just for text. Copy Rush?

  11. wrap the first line of text around an anchored object

Please please give me the option to wrap the first line of text around an anchored object. It could even just be a checkbox in the Anchored Object options window. I run into this problem all the time and the band-aid fixes of manually adjusting the indent or trying to put the image at the bottom of the previous line of text take so much unnecessary time.

  12. Bug in Merge paragraph borders

There is a bug in merge paragraph borders of CC 13.1. In thread text frames, the border is displayed immediately after end of paragraph.

  13. Paragraph style — Bullets Same as text Color option

When creating a bullet style in paragraph styles, could there be an option to have the bullet character the same color as the text color?

Similar to the paragraph rule options.

I know create character styles for this, and it is still a good feature, but you need to create multiple bullet styles if your page has a dark background.

I hope my explanation makes sense.

  14. Adobe PDF Presets / Transparency Flattener Presets " Convert Text To Outlines" Feature Not Working

In all previous versions of Illustrator and InDesign, when saving a PDF, I have been able to set my PDF settings to convert all text to outlines by checking "Convert All Text To Outlines" in my Adobe PDF preset. Since my recent update to 23.0.3, this feature is no longer working properly. The setting is still an option, however, upon save/export of the PDF, text is not converted to outlines as it previously was.

I have reached out to customer support for this issue and have been informed that this issue is "expected behavior of the software".

    How is this…

  15. Proportional Scaling should be default.

Images (vectors or photos) are rarely distorted (effectively). Images should scale via corners, and should require button action for frame cropping or distortion.

  16. Auto size headshots in frames based on a "key object" frame

Similar to how Photoshop has facial recognition, a lot of the time in my job I have to place many headshots in a grid of frames, etc. and they're not all the same resolution, crop or size. It would be awesome to have a feature that lets you select all of the frames with face photos, then click one of the frames like setting the "key object" and then InDesign will size the headshot images within the rest of the frames to match the cropping of the "key object" so everything looks consistent.

  17. No repeat option wanted for headers and footers in table options

When you've got headers and footers in tables, there is no way to prevent them from repeating at all.

There are currently three options in InDesign Table Options:
    1. Every Text Column
    2. Once per Frame
    3. Once per Page

I'd like to see an option for "NONE" or "NO REPEAT".

I can also think of "Once per Spread" as a valid setting, but NONE is the most important, since the current solution is to convert the headers to body rows, and that destroys the information about the header rows actually being headers.

  18. lowercase icon should match the other text modification icons in the Control Panel

With InDesign 20.4 the option to lowercase text was added. But the icon in the Control Panel differs from the other icons shown there.

Please modify it, maybe like I did in the image attached to this feature request:
    red = actual UI
    green = better version

Of course the icon team of Adobe will make an even better solution than my simply drawing.

  20. More control with paragraph shading

I would like more control over the space insets in the paragraph shading options. When a long paragraph of text flow on to the next page there is no way to control the spacing above (padding) when we're in the middle of the paragraph and "clip to frame" is checked. It is possible to get away with it if the distance from the top-margin and the first baseline is sufficient, but most of the time I want more space. I think it would be better if the text was forced down to the second baseline if necessary. The end…
