1. InDesign 20.0 neihter packaging next to the source file nor replacing images from the original folder

   i'm suffering from a weird problem: nothing wants to use the original folder except the export command. When i try to replace an image the program navigates me to the last used folder unless i've chosen the Original folder option in the Preferences under File Handling menu. Same issue when i try to package a document.

   I've tried to delete all the preferences. ALL of them. I've emptied all the cache. ALL. Uninstalled and reinstalled InDesign: the newly installed app tried to package into the last used folder (!?). The Preferences>File Handling> Default Relink folder menu does nothing. I can switch it but nothing happens...

   Same issue with other apps (Illustrator, PS, etc.).

2. Drag-Duplicating using Alt/Opt key does not work if key is pressed after dragging

   I am working on Mac OS Big Sur v 11.3.1 using Indesign CS 2020 16.2.1.
   I cannot duplicate images using the command option shift key.
   I have also noticed that holding the shift key down to proportionately size images is also not working. Could you advise if this issue can be solved? I have read the thread posted in 2020 and it said it was under review. I tried the workaround suggested changing live Screen drawing to "never" but this has not changed anything. Please help! Thanks.

3. InDesign Review feature 'Draw' out of alignment in web vs app

   Hello, when i draw an annotation on the InDesign web review feature, it shows up outside of the alignment in the app. This makes the tool unusable for me with clients or as a viable option to suggest to our designers.

   in the web review tool, use the draw tool to make a large drawing

4. Alignment of text box ignores anchored objects

   When I have an anchored object (lets say an image) hanging at the bottom of the text box, aligning the text to the bottom of the text box will align the text only, and cuts off the image at the bottom.
   I imagine this also happens to images at the top of the text box, when aligning to the top.
   I think that by design, anchired objects should be calculated as part of the text box's content, and should be aligned to the bottom, as text would.
   If not, it should at least be an option to choose from.

5. relink with file extension bug

   Relink File Extension is not working. This bug seems persistent so I can only assume not too many people are reporting it, but it's slowing down my productivity. When I try to use Relink File Extensions and choose the option to link images that have the .psd extension rather than a .jpeg I get the error message "Failed to find 1 links in new folder. These links have not been relinked, and will remain selected in the Links panel." Each time I've attempted to do this over the last couple of months, I double-check that the only difference in the file name is the extension. And I confirm both images are in the same directory. It just doesn't work. Please, please fix! This is a big feature for me in my production work flow. Not having it is slowing me down.

   It looks like you may be inputting ".psd" when it asks you for the filename extension.

   Try inputting just "psd" - that is, without the period in front.

   See what happens - it should work.

   InDesign 14.0.2 and Acrobat Continuous 2019.10.20099

   This issue is about the behavior and appearance of interactive check boxes in documents that have been exported to Interactive PDFs.

   There is a difference in the way that check boxes created in InDesign behave and appear versus those created in Acrobat Pro. The Acrobat Pro Forms preferences are involved in this difference.

   When, in Acrobat Pro Forms Preferences, under Highlight Color, the “Show border hover color for fields” option is selected, check boxes created in InDesign behave and appear in the following manner.

   When a check box is made active, it first appears the same as the check box that was created in InDesign. When you tab to or select another check box, or when you save the selection in the PDF, the appearance of the check box reverts to a default generic check mark.

   When, in Acrobat Pro Forms Preferences, under Highlight Color, the “Show border hover color for fields” option is not selected, check boxes created in InDesign behave and appear in the following manner.

   When a check box is made active, it first appears the same as the check box that was created in InDesign and remains as such.

   This degrades the purpose of using the highlighted fields, which is to call attention to fields that need to be filled.

   When the check boxes are created in Acrobat, it makes no difference in appearance or behavior if the “Show border hover color for fields” is selected or not. They always appear as the checkbox style you have chosen to use. They do not revert to a generic check mark.

   This is the way that custom check boxes created in InDesign should behave. Thus, they would allow the use of a highlighted field without the appearance of the “selected” custom graphic changing to an unwanted generic graphic.

7. Text appears heavier over a transparent image

   When text is in a layer above an image that has its basic blending mode set to "multiply" the text is rendered with a darker outline. This does not appear in the final PDF, only the preview, but it makes it extremely difficult to judge font sizes and whether text is bold.

   To reproduce:

   1. Create text in a text box.
   2. Insert a JPEG image on the page.
   3. Use the Arrange option on the image to "send to back" so that it is in a layer below the text
   4. Use Effects > Transparency on the image and set its blending mode to Multiply

   The expected result is that the text should appear normally.

   The actual result is that the text appears slightly darker/larger/bolded. This effect may be easier to see if you zoom out in the preview.

8. find/change missing from menu (PC)

   I am using Adobe inDesign CC 2018 on a PC and since the most recent update (March 2018), I have lost the Find/Change option from the Edit menu. I have searched all over in case it was moved somewhere else, and also tried different workspaces, to no avail. Old document, new, it doesn't make a difference. Where did this go? I use it all the time. :( The keyboard shortcuts related to Find/Change don't work either. (Spellcheck isn't working correctly either--I posted a separate bug report about that. Are these related issues?)

9. Paragraph and Table palette contents empty/gone

   1. Version of Adobe InDesign, InCopy or InDesign Server
      InDesign 19.0.1

   2. Steps to reproduce the issues
      Open the Paragraph Palette

   3. Expected result
      There is content there, text, fields for adjusting spacing, etc.

   4. Actual result
      There is no content, no fields to enter or adjust spacing measurements

   5. Test file, screenshot, video or GIF capturing the issue (optional)

   p.s. this is fixable by deleting preferences, but I don't want to lose all my preferences. Is there a way to save preferences before deleting them and restore without reintroducing the problem? I will find out.

10. Can't see highlighted input numbers in Medium Interface after upgrading to Mac OS 11.2.1

    I just upgraded my Mac to OS 11.2.1 on Sunday and noticed that when I try to highlight numbers in the medium interface in both InDesign and Illustrator I can't see what I've selected. I think the highlight color is too close to the background color. The attached file shows that Photoshop has an option for "highlight" that is not available in Indesign or Illustrator and I have also included what it looks like when I try to highlight a number. You will see a tiny blue border on the boxes where I have highlighted the numbers.

11. Starting up in "tablet" mode

    I´m beta-testing some Adobe apps both in Mac and PC. (I have also a professional CC-account for my professional user PC) and the present beta version of InDesign doesnt stort up correct in my PC, that is equipped with also "tablet"-mode. (It's Dell i7)

    I have the tablet mode totally disabled but the app seems override this. Buttons on screen are all unfunctional but I can "select" areas drawing with finger on screen.

    The app does not react upon ctrl-Q or other command so the only option is force quitting.

12. Assigned character style is ignored when you generate index

    If you manually assign certain Character Style to an index entry (for instance Bold) and the same index expression appears on the particular page more than once, Bold is often ignored when generating the index. It is properly generated only when the expression is the first one in the list.
    If you assign style (Bold) to second or third appearance of the expression on a page and generate index, the character style is ignored.

    This feature is important. Certain index entries may be highlighted because the show page number of illustration, table, headline etc. So it is important to keep the highlighting. In case there is a collision (two different character styles), InDesign should (optionally) display the same page number in italic and bold:

    Netherlands 12, 18, 18, 20

    Because italic can mean illustration and bold definition.

13. ePub

    I create very simple ePubs in Indesign CC 2018. When I export them as ePub version 3 they print perfectly from Adobe Digital Editions on a Mac but print as blank pages or spool to postscript indefinitely from Adobe Digital Editions, on a PC, in Windows. When exported in the older version ePub 2.01 they work and print fine on both Mac and Windows. So my question is: why is ePub version 3 an option from Indesign when it isn't fully supported in Adobe Digital Editions on the Windows platform most popular with the user base? Is there a solution/workaround other than reverting to version 2.01?

15. Stripped down workspace when opening document

    1. Using 17.1 x64 on a Windows 10 machine
    2. When InDesign is closed, if I double click on a file to open it, the program opens with a minimal workspace; no panels, no toolbar at the top of the screen, nothing. If I open the program first, and then open a file (either through the file menu, or by doubleclicking on the icon in File Explorer, the program opens with my correct workspace.
    3. Opening the program, no matter how I access it, should open with my selected workspace.
    4. It opens without any panels, toolbars or the option to change to a different workspace.
    5. I have provided a screen shot of the screen after opening a file by double-clicking, and another one with my normal workspace after opening a different file using the file menu.

16. "Synchronization completed successfully..." message shows up even if AppleScript's user interaction preferences set to "never interact"

    When synchronizing a book via AppleScript, the "Synchronization completed successfully..." dialog shows up even if the user interaction script preferences are set to "never interact".

    Yes, this message has the "Don't show again" option. However, it's still a bug - because the dialog shouldn't show up at all when user interaction is suppressed.

    On new installations of InDesign or new machine, this message always causes confusion to end users. It means that running the script for the first time will always fail. Users get upset.

    Hope it can be fixed! No dialogs should show up when user interaction is disabled by script.

17. AdjustLayoutPreference Object Properties Not Working in InDesign 2025 & 2026 Scripts

    Hi All,

    I am using Indesign 2025 and 2026; I would like to enable the "Adjust Layout" option in my documents through the Indesign scripting by using "AdjustLayoutPreferences" object properties as in InDesign ExtendScript API Model, but Indesign throwed error is "Eval Error (#55): "Object does not support the property or method 'adjustLayoutPreferences'".

18. Software changes

    I use InDesign daily for my publication and when you keep changing things, it throws me off and wastes my time.
    I used to be able to print to save pages to the same folder, but now when I print to save a page, it takes me to whatever folder I most recently placed an image from. VERY frustrating. Also, I now have to scroll to get to my most recently used fonts rather than the drop down font list being automatically positioned at the top with most recently used fonts.
    I wish you would just STOP changing things! Every time there's an update, it takes me a several days to adjust to changes that I didn't need or want, which slows me down and reduces my productivity.
    If you MUST do updates, make them optional, or allow us to download them quarterly or twice a year so we don't have to constantly adapt to changes!

19. provide tool to manage external cross-references

    I am responsible for maintaining and updating a long manual with many cross-references. Most of these cross-references are internal to the book collection, but a significant minority reference specific sections in other books that make up the manual or specific sections in other reference documents external to my organization. The ability to use the cross-reference tools to manage internal cross-references is a godsend. Manually tracking external cross-references, however, is extremely tedious and mistake-prone. Obviously it would not be possible to provide hyperlinks or automatic updating for external cross-references. However, I would still like a way to keep track of them in InDesign.

    I would love for InDesign to provide the following workflow for managing external cross-references:
    1. Provide a way to mark text strings as external cross-references. This could either be within the existing Insert Cross-Reference tool or a separate new tool. Ideally there would be an option to add metadata, such as the title and edition of the external document being referenced.
    2. Provide a way to export an external cross-reference report as .CSV or other table format. This table would list each text string marked as an external cross reference, along with the page number where it appears in the InDesign document and any other metadata defined for that record.
    3. Provide an option to toggle on and off highlighting of text marked as external cross references in InDesign.

20. resetting preferences doesn't work

    I've tried the Shift-Command-Option-Control key combination when launching InDesign, making sure to hit those keys immediately after launching. I've tried deleting all the preferences and caches files I know about, according to the search results I see online about such files for InDesign. I've tried restarting my computer, and I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling InDesign.

    But the preferences just WILL NOT RESET no matter what I do. Whaaaaa? When using the key combination, I don't get the "reset preferences" dialog. When deleting the files, I restart and find the same setup I had before trying to reset, when the setup (window/palette placement, etc) should be set back tot he default.

    Please help, Adobe!!! :(
