1. Export to Flat psd --- not flat

   Export As..., option 'Flat image' does not result in an actual flat image. the result is a layer in Photoshop, instead of a Background / flat image.
   Why is this important? Because in InDesign, only really flat grayscales can be given a color. Unfortunately, the result of the Ai export has to be flattened in Photoshop before it can be used to color it in InDesign.

2. suggest an idea

   InDesign would benefit from an option that allows Apply Next Style (or a Paragraph Style setting) to automatically detect the final paragraph in a contiguous sequence and then apply an alternate “last paragraph” style. This is especially useful for designs where a repeated list uses a separator — for example, in a “Materials and Tools” box where each item has a rule below, but the final item should appear without the rule.

   At present, this requires manually applying a separate “last item” style to the final paragraph every time such a box is created. Giving InDesign the ability to recognise the final paragraph and switch to a defined alternate style would greatly reduce manual intervention, avoid errors in long documents, and streamline book production workflows.

3. text wrap violates indented text next to it

   [InDesign 16.2.1 x63/Windows 10 Enterprise ]
   When text with bullets sits next to a (separate) text frame that has a wrap applied, the text after the bullet doesn't align correctly.
   I tried to upload a file (both by dragging or clicking) and neither option allows me to attach the file. "The following file type [filename.indd] is not supported."
   An earlier bug report for the same problem had a response indicating that the issue has been fixed. It has not been fixed.
   Fortunately, you can move the tab marker on the affected lines to override the bug, but that's really not a solution.

4. Can't see highlighted input numbers in Medium Interface after upgrading to Mac OS 11.2.1

   I just upgraded my Mac to OS 11.2.1 on Sunday and noticed that when I try to highlight numbers in the medium interface in both InDesign and Illustrator I can't see what I've selected. I think the highlight color is too close to the background color. The attached file shows that Photoshop has an option for "highlight" that is not available in Indesign or Illustrator and I have also included what it looks like when I try to highlight a number. You will see a tiny blue border on the boxes where I have highlighted the numbers.

5. Starting up in "tablet" mode

   I´m beta-testing some Adobe apps both in Mac and PC. (I have also a professional CC-account for my professional user PC) and the present beta version of InDesign doesnt stort up correct in my PC, that is equipped with also "tablet"-mode. (It's Dell i7)

   I have the tablet mode totally disabled but the app seems override this. Buttons on screen are all unfunctional but I can "select" areas drawing with finger on screen.

   The app does not react upon ctrl-Q or other command so the only option is force quitting.

6. Windows 15.0.3 broke Book TOC when exporting to EPUB; works in 15.0.2

   Windows 10 15.0.3 broke Book TOC when exporting to EPUB; works in 15.0.2

   Not only did 15.0.3 eliminate Book > Export to EPUB option of EPUB Version 2.0.1, it changed the Table of Contents to include duplicate entries linking to every PAGE within a chapter. The Book.epub file had a separate .xhtml file for every page in the book, rather than one .xhtml file per chapter and one TOC entry per chapter. This makes the Table of Contents useless.

   Reverting InDesign back to 15.0.2 fixes the problem.

7. Embedding video and publishing online

   I tried to embed four small videos (first at HD and then at SD) but the online publishing kept coming up with a error #16 message, when I tried to do this. After trial and error, I only managed to upload three videos into the Annual Report I had put together - not ideal at all.

   This would imply that there IS a limitation in terms of file size when publishing online. The overall size of the InDesign file was 23,560 KB.

   The three videos at SD were: 73,907 KB, 156,488 KB, 48,701 KB. The additional SD video that I wanted to include but couldn't was 492,402 KB.

   This is such a shame as the ability to embed video using the online publishing option is such a game changer.

8. Auto-fit label confusing

   The "Auto-fit" option to keep an image's fitting method and cropping position active (as far as possible) while scaling the frame, can be confusing.

   Since the implementation of it, many users are not aware of what it does, because they assume it DOES something (make it fit automatically, right now) in stead of that it will RETAIN its current crop and fit. Especially in Dutch, where it is translated as "Make it fit", which is even more misleading.

   So when explaining what it actually does to many users (as a trainer, presenter) they always sigh...

   Please use a more clarifying label, like "Keep current fit or crop" or "Retain fitting method" ("Houd passend" in Dutch) to let more users know what it does precisely.

9. pages panel collapses

   My document has many pages, 50 or more. When I open the document, the pages panel, more often than not, is completely collapsed, and I have to manually resize it back so that I can see all of the pages.
   I have the latest version of ID. I have been using versions of ID since 2001, and I never had this problem until I purchased this one. It makes me feel regret for buying it, I can tell you. It might seem like a small thing, but believe me it is annoying.
   I know ID inside and out, but nothing fixes this problem. I have tried every panel option, but nothing works. Please help.

    When pasting a group of layers from one document to another it would be great of InDesign would honor the sort order when the layers land in the receiving document. Also if the layer colors can stay the same.

    I often paste between documents and it is not fun having the manual sort the layers. How about a sort selected layer by "X' as an option. Typically I number these direct mail layers in numerical order.

    This is very important with direct mail clients with variable data. The printers prefer all versions for the different branch offices in a 2-page front and back INDD file for both digital and traditional printing as well.

    Content-Aware Fit-Problem with INDD CC2019, 14.0.1
    I had images to link again after receiving a layout from a customer. In some cases, I had massive changes, different sections of images, with the new option activated. I'm not shure about the reason, but if I don't activate the automatic fit, the picture sections are correct in the same layout with the same images.

    InDesign 14.0.2 and Acrobat Continuous 2019.10.20099

    This issue is about the behavior and appearance of interactive check boxes in documents that have been exported to Interactive PDFs.

    There is a difference in the way that check boxes created in InDesign behave and appear versus those created in Acrobat Pro. The Acrobat Pro Forms preferences are involved in this difference.

    When, in Acrobat Pro Forms Preferences, under Highlight Color, the “Show border hover color for fields” option is selected, check boxes created in InDesign behave and appear in the following manner.

    When a check box is made active, it first appears the same as the check box that was created in InDesign. When you tab to or select another check box, or when you save the selection in the PDF, the appearance of the check box reverts to a default generic check mark.

    When, in Acrobat Pro Forms Preferences, under Highlight Color, the “Show border hover color for fields” option is not selected, check boxes created in InDesign behave and appear in the following manner.

    When a check box is made active, it first appears the same as the check box that was created in InDesign and remains as such.

    This degrades the purpose of using the highlighted fields, which is to call attention to fields that need to be filled.

    When the check boxes are created in Acrobat, it makes no difference in appearance or behavior if the “Show border hover color for fields” is selected or not. They always appear as the checkbox style you have chosen to use. They do not revert to a generic check mark.

    This is the way that custom check boxes created in InDesign should behave. Thus, they would allow the use of a highlighted field without the appearance of the “selected” custom graphic changing to an unwanted generic graphic.

13. Dictionaries, specifically German

    The german dictionary in ID is weird. Many common german words it would mark as unknown, but the suggestions show a lot of rarely used ones. Well, when adding words to the dictionary, it can be confusing for the grammar checker to distinguish between verbs, adjectives and nouns if there is no definition for the word type. So, at least for German, but perhaps generally, give the user the option to define if the added word is a noun, adjective or verb.

    Example for confusion: "brücken". This is a verb ("brücken" -> to bridge), but also the plural of "Brücke" (bridge), but with lowercase. The grammar checker would suggest to capitalize the word when it's meant to be a verb. I would then define it once as verb in lowercase and once as noun with capital letter in the dictionary.

15. provide tool to manage external cross-references

    I am responsible for maintaining and updating a long manual with many cross-references. Most of these cross-references are internal to the book collection, but a significant minority reference specific sections in other books that make up the manual or specific sections in other reference documents external to my organization. The ability to use the cross-reference tools to manage internal cross-references is a godsend. Manually tracking external cross-references, however, is extremely tedious and mistake-prone. Obviously it would not be possible to provide hyperlinks or automatic updating for external cross-references. However, I would still like a way to keep track of them in InDesign.

    I would love for InDesign to provide the following workflow for managing external cross-references:
    1. Provide a way to mark text strings as external cross-references. This could either be within the existing Insert Cross-Reference tool or a separate new tool. Ideally there would be an option to add metadata, such as the title and edition of the external document being referenced.
    2. Provide a way to export an external cross-reference report as .CSV or other table format. This table would list each text string marked as an external cross reference, along with the page number where it appears in the InDesign document and any other metadata defined for that record.
    3. Provide an option to toggle on and off highlighting of text marked as external cross references in InDesign.

16. InDesign 20.0 neihter packaging next to the source file nor replacing images from the original folder

    i'm suffering from a weird problem: nothing wants to use the original folder except the export command. When i try to replace an image the program navigates me to the last used folder unless i've chosen the Original folder option in the Preferences under File Handling menu. Same issue when i try to package a document.

    I've tried to delete all the preferences. ALL of them. I've emptied all the cache. ALL. Uninstalled and reinstalled InDesign: the newly installed app tried to package into the last used folder (!?). The Preferences>File Handling> Default Relink folder menu does nothing. I can switch it but nothing happens...

    Same issue with other apps (Illustrator, PS, etc.).

    InDesign 18.0-20.0

    i'm suffering from a weird problem: nothing wants to use the original folder except the export command. When i try to replace an image the program navigates me to the last used folder unless i've chosen the Original folder option in the Preferences under File Handling menu. Same issue when i try to package a document.

    I've tried to delete all the preferences. ALL of them. I've emptied all the cache. ALL. Uninstalled and reinstalled InDesign: the newly installed app tried to package into the last used folder (!?). The Preferences>File Handling> Default Relink folder menu does nothing. I can… more

17. Endnote numbers superscripted overriden after Epub Export

    After importing a document with the non-static text endnotes option, I applied a superscript character style to the endnote numbers and when I export to ePub 3.0 the superscripting disappears. The numbers references in the text are still superscripted as they should be, but the superscripting on the numbers before each endnote at the end of document has been dropped. For some reason Epub Export overrides the applied character style.

18. Audio File sounds from one page to another with no interruption when turning pages

    I would like that the audio file that I place in one page sounds from that page to another with no interruption when turning pages, I publish sheet music, I need audio file sounding while people reads the sheet music.
    We place the audio file in the first page and I need an option that offer me from which page to which page must the audio file sound ?
    Do I explain myself ?? Thank you

19. Right-to-left paragraph orientation causes problems

    Hello and thanks in advance to the respondents.
    For several months now I have been suffering from a very annoying problem in InDesign and I have not been able to find a solution.
    When I set the writing direction from right to left (using the edit menu - right to left), the arrow keys on the right and left keyboard stop responding as they should, and instead of each click the cursor moves one character to the right or left, clicking on them jumps the cursor to the beginning or end of the line.
    The problem only exists when I select the "Visual" option in the above menu.
    Of course, in my Adobe Creative settings, English is set to support Hebrew, and I also noticed that I am opening a text window of the Middle East type, and in the paragraph settings itself, the direction is set from right to left.

20. Stripes in objects that have transparency

    Dear Indesign community,

    I have installed the latest version of Indesign and always have these stripes in those objects that have transparency. The level of transparency does not matter. I set the screen display performance to the highest quality. I've already uninstalled and reinstalled Indesign, but nothing has changed.These stripes can no longer be seen in the exported PDF.I use Windows 11, 64 bit, an Asus G814JV laptop with a 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-13980HX 2.20 GHz processor. 32GB RAM. And an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 graphics card. Indesign version 19.0
    I don't have the option to turn GPU performance on or off in the InDesign defaults with Windows 11.
    GPU performance does not appear in the list of default settings at all. Only Display performance and then Appearance of Black appear.
