Paragraph and Table palette contents empty/gone

p.s. this is fixable by deleting preferences, but I don't want to lose all my preferences. Is there a way to save preferences before deleting them and restore without reintroducing the problem? I will find out.

Still ongoing problem. Is it just me?! In the latest version of the problem, the little adjuster arrows are working, but numbers cannot be entered into the fields in the Paragraph palette (except for the Space Between value can be typed). The fields for the left and right indent, the top 2 fields are offset above the place where they should be, and are active working, etc.
In the Character palette, currently everything works except the Baseline and the Skew. The increment adjusters work for those, but no text is shown or can be typed into the fields.
