1. Pick an other page in a link

   It would be great, when importing a file with several pages, to be able to quickly choose another page of the linked file in the links panel, without having to re-import the file.

2. Tagged artifacts are not propery exported to PDF

   2. Create an InDesign Document with correct tagging, articles, etc. Spend hours because there is no simple way doing this without expensive plugins. Our small monthly payment is used to include more important functions like Stock-Photos. Export PDF, correct some minor errors and check it with PAC. You´ll get many Content errors, because artifacts are not properly tagged. Try to solve it in Acrobat with the tags/order/...-panel. Spend more hours with vanishing objects and many other amusing bugs. Find the Preflight-Tool to tag all objects at once.
   3. Correct tagging while generating the PDF.
   4. Lost my mind ... Please overhaul the UA-PDF workflow – or at least – fix all the bugs in InDesign and Acrobat.

3. Tools Screen Mode buttons vanish

   In the tools menu panel, the screen mode button vanishes.... I turn off the tools and then turn it back on and things are happy... for awhile..... it's not a major pain but rather a nuisance... LOL.....

4. Data Merge, CSV file containing column header named 'table'

   A CSV file with a column header named 'table' will fail to import with 'Data Merge > Select Data Source.' No errors are given. The 'Data Merge' panel remains unpopulated.

   Changing the header to something else, e.g. 'Table', will work.

   Adobe InDesign 18.5 on Windows 10 and macOS Monterey. 18.4 behaves the same way.

5. Applying a different swatch not always working (bug?)

   It happens every now and then that changing the color of text by selecting the text with the text tool and clicking on the desired swatch does not change anyting. You can select the desired color, but the text color stays the same. It does not seem to be document related and is not always happening. If you use the color picker to select a random color from the document, the problem disappears.    At this moment I am running ID CC 16.1 on a fully updated 'heavy duty' Windows 10 pc of 2 years old. I cannot reproduce the issue at the moment, because it does not happen all the time and I am currently not experiencing problems (a few days ago I did though, but had no time for posting).

6. InDesign 2024 starts with "CreateObject("InDesign.Application.2023")" in an environment where 2023 and 2024 coexist.

   Reproduction steps
   1. InDesign 2023 (18.x) is installed on Windows
   2. Install InDesign 2024 (19.0) there.
   3. Run the following code in VBScript.
   Set myInDesign = CreateObject("InDesign.Application.2023")

   Expected result
   InDesign 2024 (19.0) will start.

   Actual result
   InDesign 2023 (18.0) will start.

   cause
   InDesign 2024 installer is overwriting the 2023 registry.
   \HKCR\CLSID{231441AB-8969-4F6D-8CD1-B596C4047898}
   is the registry for InDesign 2023, but the InDesign 2024 installer has rewritten the contents to InDesign 2024. The same goes for related registries.

7. Page tool causes layout shifts on parent pages

   When the Page Tool is used to resize parent (master) pages, unwanted shifts of page items may occur. These can occur directly in the document or also after an IDML export. Whereby with the IDML export the order of the sample pages plays a role

   Concrete example: When the right bottom corner of the Page Tool is selected and the page size is changed, a position mismatch occurs on the inherited master page.

   It is expected that on master pages of the same size the position of objects and inherited object is the same.

   This does not occur if the upper left corner of the Page tool is used when resizing.

   You can see this also in the different matixes of the inner coordinate system of the master pages.

8. Pages navigation jumping two pages at a time

   I've got a strange bug on a 100 single pages document. Sometimes (twice this week) when I'm using the shortcut Fn-option-up/down arrow to jump to the next page, inDesign will jump 2 pages at a time.

   It will behave like this until I double click on a page in the pages panel.

   Weird and annoying, but not sure I can reproduce.

9. indesign not identifying type 1 fonts

   InDesign is no longer identifying Type1 fonts in the find/replace window even when a customer is clearly still using Type1 fonts. Also no longer seeing the blue warning banners. InDesign v18.0

    I've had no issues in writing documents, but printing an existing one crashed InDesign2018. A crash report was automatically generated and sent to you &/ or Apple.

11. Interactive elements do not export to interactive PDF

    operating on Mac OS X El Capitan, Version 10.11

    Steps to reproduce issues:

    Create a new document with a double-page spread in Indesign.
    Import four images into document and arrange on spread.

    Import a shape into Indesign that will be assigned as a pop up box that will appear above Image 1 when rolled over, and place shape next to Image 1.
    Place some text (e.g. "Image credit') on top of shape and group text with shape.
    Open Buttons and Forms dialogue box:
    - Convert group to a button.
    - Set 'Name' as: Pop up 1.
    - Check box to turn 'Hidden until triggered' on.

    Select Image 1 which will be the trigger image for Pop up 1.
    Open Buttons and Forms dialogue box:
    - Convert Image 1 to a button.
    - Set 'Name' as: Image 1
    - Select 'Event: On Roll Over'.
    - Add a new action: 'Show/Hide Buttons and Forms'.
    - Set 'Visibility': select Pop-up 1 from list and set visibility as 'show'. Set visibility for 'Image 1' itself to 'ignore'.
    - Appearance: [Normal] is selected.

    • Select "Event: On Roll Off'.
    • Add a new action: 'Show/Hide Buttons and Forms'.
    • Set 'Visibility': select Pop-up 1 from list and set visibility as 'hide'. Set visibility for 'Image 1' itself to 'ignore'.
    • Appearance: [Normal] is selected.

    Repeat above steps for Images 2, 3 and 4.
    Export as interactive PDF.

    Actual result: 3 out of four of the images will trigger a pop up box when rolled over in the Interactive PDF as exported from Indesign. The fourth image does not trigger its assigned pop up box. The settings are exactly the same for all four images and pop up boxes. The shapes for the pop-up boxes are each imported separately, not copied and pasted. Sometimes none display, sometimes all, sometimes half. I cannot depend on this feature to work correctly.

    Expected Result: Each of the four images will trigger a hidden separate pop up box for its corresponding image when rolled over and the pop-up box will revert to being hidden when the image is rolled off.

12. datamerge crashes after updating placeholder

    The Crash happened after selecting the word between the data merge tags << WORD >> and then clicking on the placeholder name in the data merge panel. I had to do that to update a datamerge placeholder that lost its link to its source after converting the document back from cc18 to cc17.
    After relinking the data merge document, some of its tags still worked throughout the document and some didnt.

    To identify the cause of this issue, we had started our investigation with the aim to resolve it. You might have also received email from us seeking more details to help in our investigation.

    We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the finding : Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent in nature at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.

    We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2020.0.1 (if you’re not already on it). It contains a lot of stability fixes.

13. [ID-4257733]The amount of “Indent to Here” in a paragraph with a “Text Wrap” object at the beginning of the line is wider than usual.

14. Application Frame Sticks to One External Monitor and Fails to Move Between Monitors (Windows 11)

    I am experiencing an issue with a user where the application frame is stuck on a specific external monitor. When I attempt to drag the window to another external monitor, it automatically reverts to its original position on the main monitor. I can minimize and drag the corners to adjust size of window but cannot move it over to other monitors. This behavior occurs across multiple workstations, and I have already attempted the following troubleshooting steps:

    Ensured that all software is fully updated.
    Restarted the device multiple times.
    Adjusted the resolution settings and reinstalled display drivers.
    Removed and reconnected external monitors.
    Resetting preferences
    Checking required system requirements

    Despite these efforts, the issue persists.

    I would appreciate any further assistance or insight into resolving this problem.

15. InDesign performance issue: Hangs when exporting to PDF

    2. ID would sometimes not finish the export to PDF task and hangs for minutes. It must then be killed in the task manager. During this it constantly consumes a big lot of RAM and CPU power. See attachment.

    Fix for this issue is now available in the latest update of InDesign 2020 – that is, InDesign 15.0.1

    In the Creative Cloud Desktop application, click on the Updates section on the left. You should be able to see the Update available for InDesign. Please update your InDesign application to this version to try out the fix.

16. blank screen when switching displays

    When I have a file open in InDesign 2025 on my MacBook Pro (14-inch, Nov 2023, 15.3.1) and switch between using the built-in display and an external monitor, the document view becomes completely black/blank, though all toolbars remain visible and functional.

    Steps to Reproduce:
    1. Open a file in InDesign on a MacBook Pro.
    2. Close the MacBook lid, connect to an external monitor, and wake the computer.
    3. The InDesign window stays open, toolbars are visible, but the artwork area is completely blank.
    4. Selecting all (Cmd + A) reveals bounding boxes, but no image or text is visible.

    This also happens in reverse:
    • If I’m working on an external monitor, then unplug it and open the MacBook to work, the same issue occurs.
    • My MacBook is always closed when connected to an external display, and I use an external keyboard and trackpad.

    Expected Result:
    • The document area should remain visible and fully functional when switching between the MacBook’s display and an external monitor without needing to restart InDesign.

    Actual Result:
    • The document area turns black/blank, preventing any interaction with the artwork.
    • Toolbars, menus, and selection boxes remain functional, but the contents of the document are completely invisible.

    Temporary Workaround:
    • Saving the file, quitting InDesign, and reopening fixes the issue temporarily.

    Additional Info:
    • OS, external display firmware, and InDesign are all up to date and have been happening for over a year.
    • Issue persists across different external monitors.
    • Unclear if this is an Adobe or macOS issue.

    When I have a file open in InDesign 2025 on my MacBook Pro (14-inch, Nov 2023, 15.3.1) and switch between using the built-in display and an external monitor, the document view becomes completely black/blank, though all toolbars remain visible and functional.

    Steps to Reproduce:
    1. Open a file in InDesign on a MacBook Pro.
    2. Close the MacBook lid, connect to an external monitor, and wake the computer.
    3. The InDesign window stays open, toolbars are visible, but the artwork area is completely blank.
    4. Selecting all (Cmd + A) reveals bounding boxes, but no image or text is visible.

17. Links palette issue

    Hi there;

    I'm encountering a bug with the "Links" palette. Specifically, for a long list of links, the "Link info" panel doesn't preview properly, but rather overlaps the main list of links. Similarly, if a link alphabetically appears towards the bottom of the list, it isn't possible to select it from the Links palette.

    Hoping this can be fixed with the next INDD update?!

18. InDesign steals focus in Windows 10

    Whenever InDesign launches or performs a task such as PDF export, if the user switches to another application, InDesign will steal the focus back.

19. Bookmarks are incorrect

    My bookmarks don't match my Table of Contents. Some titles are in the wrong order, and some will send you to the wrong page.

    Steps to reproduce:
        1. Update ToC
     
    Result: ...
    Expected: ToC to be in the correct order in the Bookmarks panel.
     
    System info
        Application: InDesign v19.0.1.1
        OS: Windows v10.0.22621, RAM: 63.89 GB GB, CPUs (logical): 16

20. [ID-4257736]InDesign hangs when placing CJK tagged text with ruby

    I'm currently using ID 2024, but I have tested other versions of ID, back to CS6, and they all have the same problem. I'm currently running Windows 11, but the problem also occurs in Windows 10.

    Steps:

    1. Install the Adobe font family, Source Han Sans TW, on your computer.
    2. Download TaggedText.zip and unzip it
    3. Open InDesign in the CJK version
    4. Create a new document with these grid attributes: Direction = Vertical; Font = Source Han Sans TW, Normal; Size = 16 pt; Vertical = Horizontal = 100%; Char Aki = 0 pt; Line Aki = 10 pt; Characters = 40; Lines = 15
    5. Go File > Place... > choose TaggedText.txt
    6. After TaggedText.txt is loaded into the "cursor" <shift-click> inside the frame

    It would be nice if InDesign would place the text and allow me to continue working with the data. Unfortunately, InDesign hangs and I have to kill it with the Task Manager.

    I'm pretty sure the problem is related to ruby in the tagged text. It is possible to place the text using the debug version of InDesign available through adobeprerelease.com which leads me to think that the tagged text is acceptable. My request is to fix the regular version of InDesign so that it can place this tagged text just like the debug version can.

    At this point InDesign is hung.
