endnote
There appears to be a bug in the endnote linking when exported to PDF from InDesign. I'm running InDesign 13.0.1 x64 (Windows).
When I export an InDesign document as a PDF, endnote linking (from the reference to the text and v.v.) is incorrect.
Please see https://forums.adobe.com/message/10048963 for the full discussion. In short:
Create a document with multiple sections (e.g. 1st section with 9 pages, 2nd section with 125 pages). Endnotes in second section will link nine pages too early (e.g., if you have an endnote on page 122, clicking on the endnote in the PDF will link to page 113.

Text wraps when replacing a swatch
If I replace a swatch the text wraps at one place. It happens just with one color in the document... I doesn't matter which swatch I use for replacing... I never seen this before. I image how risky that is when you're replacing a swatch in a large project like a catalog and than somewhere in the document text is wraping...

CC2018 IDML files not compatible with CS6
Clients who have CS6 can't open any IDML files I create/export in CC2018. They receive an error message saying the format is unsupported or a plug-in is missing. IDML files created/exported from an earlier version of CC (2017) work fine.

preferences update
Preferences, templates, custom sizes, actions should be carried forward as standard. Having to reset everything every update is excruciating and a large waste of unnecessary time.

File rename
InDesign 13.0 running Mac OX 10.12.6
If and INDD file is renamed in the Finder when it's open in InDesign, saving the file will cause an error dialog to appear saying "Changes cannot be save as InDesign can no longer access the '[filepath:newfilename]' file. Place the file in the original location and try again." This error message appears whether trying to do a simple save or even Save As.
This error appears even though both the window header and the file name in the error message both reflect the changed (not the original) file name.
Unless file is restored to original file name, there is no way to save changes.
Being able to rename files from the Finder while the files are still open in InDesign is a feature that InDesign has supported for years.

Mouse Latency Issues
Indesign 13.0; macOS High Sierra 10.13; Macbook Pro 15" 2015
When using the trackpad the cursor lags even when the display mode is changed to fast. This lag is quite visible even in small size documents.

Identical shapes on different layers end up different sizes when scaled together using the selection tool
1) This bug occurred on InDesign cc2017 and CS6. 2) Follow these steps to replicate the bug: create a shape, let's say a circle, and then copy this circle and paste it in a separate layer directly over the top of the first. To better see the effects of the bug, make the fill of the top circle red, and the bottom blue. At this point, the bottom blue circle is completely hidden by the red circle above it. Now put a 4pt stroke with an outside alignment on the bottom blue circle. The blue circle is still hidden, and now it appears as if the red circle on top has a stroke. Before making any changes to the shapes, make sure the Dimensions Include Stroke Weight and Adjust Stroke Weight when Scaling are DESELECTED in the Transform panel options. Make sure both the Info palette and the Transform palette are visible so you can read the starting and ending measurements in both palettes. Using the selection tool, select BOTH circles together, and then pull on any corner to enlarge the two shapes together. 3) EXPECTED RESULT: the two shapes should scale together. They start with the equal measurements in both the Info and Transform palettes, and once scaled, the shapes and the measurements should still read as being equal (albeit larger) sizes. 4) THE ACTUAL RESULT: the two shapes are different sizes after scaling. Remember that Dimensions Include Stroke Weight was deselected, so the stroke shouldn’t have any effect on the shape size, and yet, the bottom shape is slightly bigger than the top. Not only is the blue circle now clearly visible and peeking out from beneath the red circle, but the Info and Transform palettes read TWO different sizes. The following are images that illustrate the bug:

Ignore All not working in spell check
When using the spell check, the "Ignore All" feature no longer appears to work. When spell checking a long document this is a pain and it's really easy to miss something that is actually wrong.
This seems to be a fairly recent thing as it did used to work. Using the latest version of InDesign.

Workspace disappearing and not being able to get it back
Sometimes all my right-handed Tools, that I carefully assembled in a workspace i like, disappear, like pages, Colors etc. Although being able to click them in den Window-Menu, nothing appears. The only way to get them back is to change to another workspace and re-create my own workspace piece by piece, which then might last a few weeks before not being able to use them again.
Any ideas what goes wrong here?
What should i check?Kind regards, Thomas

Searching for fonts by Japanese name in the context taskbar is not reflected.
Windows 10/11
InDesign Ver. 20.0This is a trouble when searching for a font by keyboard input of the font name on the context taskbar and selecting from those listed.
When searching by Kanji, Japanese, etc., the search is not reflected as a search list and returns to the font before the search was entered.
If the font name is alphanumeric, it is normal, but if the font name is not alphanumeric, it cannot be searched.Original text (Japanese):

Footnote: Problems with Small caps when using World-Ready Paragraph Composer
ID 23 and 24: When the Footnote Text Paragraph Style has World-Ready Paragraph Composer enabled, then there is a problem with formatting in the first line of the footnote: Starting from Footnote 10, the problem appears. When Small Caps is applied (via open type font) then the style is applied to 1 letter before the styled text range and 1 letter at the end of the text is not styled as should be. So the staling is shifted for 1 letter regarding the applied style. When the footnote number is 3 digits, then the styling is shifted by 2 letters.

PDF/X-1a:2001 rendering is broken as of v18.4
Exporting using the PDF/X-1a:2001 preset no longer works properly as of versions 18.4. When rendering plate separations for printing using AFGA Apogee prepress software (which has NOT been updated, nor has the OS), the PDF crashes the render and spits out an error. I've checked and confirm that PDFs worked as expected forever until v18.4 and 18.5, which both produce an error. Saving the PDFs as a postscript within Acrobat and distilling back into PDF/X-1a:2001 fixes the problem, so something is broken in InDesign.
Apogee usually provides better error reports than the single "." in that screenshot, which suggests that it doesn't understand the nature of the problem.Exporting using the PDF/X-1a:2001 preset no longer works properly as of versions 18.4. Hebrew drops out
Hebrew text in the middle of a sentence is dropping out when exported to PDF. There have been several occurrences in this project, but I've never seen this before. In the example PDF, I have a Hebrew word followed by a makeshift ellipsis [nonbreaking space + . + 1/6 em space + . + 1/6 em space + . + space] followed by two more Hebrew words. A GREP style changes the Hebrew words from the base font (Arno) to Taamey David CLM. As is, the first Hebrew word drops out.
If I move the first Hebrew word back to the end of the previous line, it exports correctly. If I change the font of the spaces and periods between the Hebrew words, it exports correctly.
Changing the font for the Hebrew to Times New Roman does not correct the drop out. Removing the GREP and manually styling the Hebrew also does not correct the drop out.
I've attached two PDFs. One shows a hole in the text where the Hebrew should be. The second—in which I've changed the font of the spaces and periods between the Hebrew words, shows the complete—correct export.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
- Version 18.4
- Key mixed-language sentence of English and Hebrew with a non-Hebrew string interrupting the Hebrew. (It may be a requirement that the Hebrew begins the second or later line in the paragraph; that seems to be part of the pattern, but I can't confirm that.) Export to PDF.
- All Hebrew and English should export in full.
- Part of Hebrew is missing.

Across platform seamless real-time collaboration
I think this issues is raised with the co-auther note, but it's slightly ambigious what's meant. Therefor I'll just restate that an option to collaborate and work seamless across workstations in the same InDesign document would be very helpful. Something similar to the Office-package in this regard would be amazing, where you can see what and where the other collaborators are editing and in what sections. It's a hassle to have multiple copies and remember to copy every edit into a masterfile in the end.

InDesign 18.2 crashes/fails during PDF export for documents containing placed indd containing Adobe Fonts
Problem/Actual Result
I have Indesign files that have .indd files linked as images. Each time I export an Indesign file that has an .indd links, I receive the attached messages saying that the file cannot be exported.Steps to reproduce the issue:
- I have exported each page to find out which assets are causing Indesign not to export, it is always an .indd asset.
- I have tried removing any transparency from each of the .indd linkages
- I have removed any transparency or object style on any bounding box an .indd file sits in.
- I have tried removing any unused or empty layers in all of the .indd linkages
- I have tried exporting Indesign files as Press Quality, High Quality Print and Small File size but no PDF can be produced.
- I have tried saving the Indesign file and .indd linkages as IDML or INDT files, then resaving them as Indesign files, but no PDF is produced.
- I have trashed all my preferences multiple times.
- I have restarted my computer multiple times.
- I have tested the above with multiple Indesign files and still receive the attached error messagesExpected result:

Color Picker causes InDesign to Crash
Every time I try to use the eyedrop Color Picker tool in InDesign it causes InDesign to crash and close. It will not allow me to drag the eyedropper to pick up a color, and if I try to drag the eyedropper it makes the color box freeze to where I cannot click "Ok" or "Cancel" and I need to press the "Esc" button on my keyboard to get out of the color box. Shortly after closing the color box, InDesign will crash and close. I have tried updating InDesign to the newest version, turning on/off my computer multiple times, sending crash reports every time the issue happens, creating a new file in InDesign, closing all other applications. When I look at the activity monitor on my Mac, it says InDesign is using 99%-101% CPU. I have a new (purchased 09/2022) MacBook M1 Pro with 16GB of memory, 500GB Flash Storage (494 GB available) Version 12.6 Monterey.
Adobe InDesign 2023 Version 18.1
Steps to Reproduce this issue: Every time I try to click the eyedropper tool to change the color of either text, a line, or a background box it will cause InDesign to crash. I created a new InDesign file to see if the issue will persist in a separate file and it crashed in the new file as well.
Expected Result: I expect to click and drag the eyedropper tool to a part of a photo that has been placed in InDesign to capture the color to use for either text, a line, or a box.
Actual Results: The color box freezes to where I cannot click "Ok" or "Cancel", then InDesign will crash and close on its own and ask if I want to send a crash report. I always say yes to sending a crash report.
