[CC2019] [Bug] Sort by name not automatically applied
After a designer applied "Sort By name" in the paragraph style panel, and adds another style or renames a style, the style list is not automatically sorted again. The panel doesn't keep the list of styles automatically sorted by name.

File name editor in book tool
It would be incredibly useful if you could use the book editor panel to be able to rename the underlying file. For instance, just before I finalise a textbook, I would like to be able to put chapters numbers in as a prefix to each file.
At the moment, I have to remove "all" the files from the book. Or rename the files after closing InDesign. Then I patch up the book by using the resultant errors to remind me of which file goes in which sequence in the book. This process is very time consuming and unnecessary, considering the…

cc libraries
In 2021 update, the cc libraries freeze and are unavailable. I tried to delete something from my library 3 times, and nothing happened. Then I closed the window, and when I reopened it had deleted three things.
Anyone else having issues with libraries with the new update?I know the 2021 update is still really new, so if this is already being fixed I apologize.

PDF Export causes Acrobat to crash
I am having trouble exporting InDesign files to PDF.
This is what I'm seeing:
Exporting PDFs from InDesign works fine if no PDF is open. If you have a PDF already open or are exporting a 2nd PDF with the first still open it crashes Adobe.I have updated Windows to a later version, checked drivers, the event viewer logs. I looked for similar issues online, repaired Acrobat from Control panel and from within the app.
Please share any advice.

Data Merge to PDF (using the new single page export feature) does not work properly
Using the packaged folder attached, go to the Data Merge panel and select Export to PDF. Click OK on the first dialog box and in the second dialog box, make sure the "Create Separate PDF files" checkbox is checked.
Expected result - 6 PDFs that have correct content in each PDF.
Actual result - 6 PDFs that have incorrect content. PDF 1 is fine, but PDFs 2-6 are the same content as PDF 2.5 votesThis issue was fixed in an earlier release of InDesign.
Marking this as Fixed.—

InDesign Windows all over the shop
I am currently using three screens for my work. Whenever I select a window from the menu, the flyouts appear in a hidden or hard-to-see location on any of my screens, usually in the bottom left corner. As a result, I can only see the header of the flyout, which becomes problematic when it is hidden behind other flyouts.
In my opinion, when a window/flyout is selected from the menu, it should appear in the centre of the active screen and on top for easy visibility.

Import PDF Comments - New Bugs identified - Part 3
We're also facing below issues in the new feature, called 'Import PDF Comments':
(1) [CRITICAL ERROR] When any insertion is happening at the end of paragraph, InDesign is swapping the last character after the new insertion
(2) When any PDF comments appeared within the tinted panel, it's not replacing properly
Please let me know for any clarifications on the above given feedback.

Alternate glyphs change order unpredicatably
If I show some alternate glyphs (whether in the tiny popup - can we resize this? - or in the Glyphs panel), when I select one, the order of the other glyphs changes. This is really annoying - can they PLEASE stay in the same order, so I can easily switch between them. The current (wrong) system goes like this:
Type a word
Highlight a character
The miniscule glyphs pop-up pops up
I choose the second (miniscule) glyph in the pop-up
I don't really like it
I choose the third glyph in the pop-up…1 vote -
Story that spans several pages not adding to InCopy Assignment.
When I create an InCopy file the bulk of the document does not add to the assignment. When I right click on the story there is no InCopy option in the drop down. If I go to the assignments panel I cannot add the story to the assignment.
Just updated to InDesign cc 2018. (13.0.1) Running El Capitan.

Grep expressions with ~F in a character class fail in endnotes
The inclusion of ~F in a character class invalidates grep expressions in endnotes.
InDesign version: 14.0.2.324 (with the GREP fix installed)
Steps to reproduce:
- Open the attached document. It contains a single page with text and an endnote.
- In the GREP tab of the Find/What window, enter the following GREP expression:
\d[^.,;~F]+
And target the document. The expression matches from a digit up to the next period, comma, semicolon, or footnote marker.
Expected result: The expression should match some text in the main text and in the endnote.
Actual Result: The expression does not match anything in the endnote.…

Close/Minimize/Maximize buttons are hidden under the top menu on Mac OS
For some reason the very top bar of the InDesign window is hidden underneath the top menu (File, Edit, etc.), making it impossible to minimize or move the window to another monitor. Currently the only solution I've found is to unplug my external monitor's HDMI cable from my Macbook which forces the InDesign window to appear properly.

eyedropper
The eyedropper suddenly stopped working correctly. See attached images to show which eyedropper options are selected and what the result is. The color should be a flat blue and instead a gradient effect is being applied. This is happening repeatedly throughout many charts within this document. I'm in InDesign CC and it's up to date. I just reset all of my preferences manually as the shortcut keys have never worked for me and my pages panel stopped working.

[ID-4257731]No Redraws on Object Highlight
Prerequisites
- macOS version only
- version 18 (2023) and later
- Screen Mode: Normal
- GPU Performance OFF (CPU Preview)
This issue occurs 100% of the time under these conditions. Note that Overprint Preview forces CPU Preview, causing the issue even in Overprint Preview mode with GPU Performance ON. It persists across macOS versions and Intel/Apple Silicon platforms.
Steps to Reproduce
- Prepare an InDesign document with multiple pages.
- Place any object on the page.
- Switch to the Text tool.
- Hover the mouse over the object (MouseEnter), without selecting it.
- Press the Cmd key while the mouse is over the object.

tool bars
Tool bars do not appear when opening InDesign 18.0 CC 2023. I have to go to Window, turn on Show Application Frame, then flip that off to have my tool bars visible. This is the case in Photoshop and Illustrator 2023

page range for publishment in 'share for review' is set by last print/export job
When sharing for review, the published document can be limited to a certain page range, because it takes that setting from the last print/export job. The only workaround is to first reset that range in the print/export window. Then publish for review to see all of the pages.
Being able to select what pages to share (or not) would be a nice feature in the 'share for review' interface. This way, I would not have to make versions, separating artwork ready for review, and artwork that is not.
10 votesThe fix is now available in the latest InDesign update, 15.1.1
Please update to the latest version to get the fix.

"Copy Links To" option in the Links panel does not flag as a change in the document.
Therefore, InDesign does not prompt to save the change and the document continues to link to the previous location if closed. I was able to reproduce this problem on MacOS High Sierra and Windows 10 with both InDesign CC 2017 and 2018.
