  1. Adjust layout without resizing anchored objects

With the Adjust Layout feature activated, if I resize the margins of a page or apply a master page with different margins, anchored objects on the page end up getting resized. I have even had some anchored objects disappear completely (although the anchors are still there). I want to be able to adjust the main text frame on a page to the new margins WITHOUT changing the anchored objects, which are part of the text flow and should not be changed.

For example, in designing a book, I want to apply a certain master page to pages with chapter headings.…

  2. adjustLayout Doesn't work when used in an Extendscript

In InDesign 2014 I used Document.layoutAdjustmentPreferences.enableLayoutAdjustment to make text boxes and images adjust to new measurements of a page and it worked pretty well.

In InDesign 2019 I understand it has been replaced with Document.adjustLayoutPreferences.enableAdjustLayout and I can trigger it with my script but it doesn't work as before - text boxes and images remains on the original place.

If I use the function manually, without scripting, it works fine, text and images adjusts to the new measurements.

  3. Missing strikethrough, replace text, and highlight options on share for review web link

We're using the public (with password) share for review option for our annual report because we didn't want one-time reviewers to have to make an account.

I thought that's why I was only seeing the draw and thumbtack options on the online review. But after updating InDesign the options appeared today. And then they disappeared again and I can't get them to come back.

I hope this feature can be fixed. It was so much easier to make the updates from the comments then emailed edits and scans of people markups that they PDF'd.

We had one other issue before,…

  4. InDesign 14.0.2 constant spinning beachball - especially on text related commands

Working in InDesign 14.0.2 on High Sierra, (single computer home network) the programme is exceptionally slow - taking about 10 seconds (of beachballing) to select a line of copy. Clicking between objects takes 5-10 seconds also. This is happening on my Mac Book Pro and iMac, both running High Sierra - all other programmes are working normally. I have tried trashing my preferences and uninstalling etc, but nothing has improved the lagging issue. I have had to revert to the 2018 version to get my work done.

  5. Running head containing forced line break inserts space incorrectly

When a Running Head text variable is generated, under certain (common) conditions, a double-space is inserted where a forced linebreak is used.

    To reproduce bug:

    1. Insert a Running Head text variable into a master page running head position.

    2. Specify the first instance of, say, Level-One paragraph style.

    3. In a multi-page text flow, insert a Level-One styled paragraph with enough text to force a line wrap.

    4. Within the Level-One paragraph, insert a Forced Line Break (FLB) character.

    5. Scroll text back and forth to force update of the text variable display.

Result: On the page containing the Level-One paragraph, the running head…

  7. Preview bug, always scrambled

Preview is always messed up. Images attached, text is often spliced like this until I zoom in and out. Sometimes overprint preview helps but it's happening frequently and I can't see what my work looks like...

  8. Quranic annotation signs not working in Indesign

Hi. Standard Pakistani Quranic text is not rendered properly in Indesign because it is unable to handle a Unicode block correctly (see attachments)

    Version of Adobe InDesign:
    2021 16.3.2

    Steps to reproduce the issues:
To recreate this problem, download the font 'PakType Naskh Basic' from link below:
    https://sourceforge.net/projects/paktype/files/latest/download

For Quranic text sample, use text from link below:
    https://svn.code.sf.net/p/paktype/code/Fonts/Deployment/Sura-Fatiha.html

I hope this bug is fixed as soon as possible because we Pakistanis need to compose standardized Quran in Indesign. Thank you.

  9. InDesign 2018 crashing when I go to linked endnote text

I'm working with linked endnotes in InDesign 2018 (version 13.1), but my file originated in InDesign 2015 (I skipped 2017). I have already saved the document as an InDesign 2018 file but seem to be having problems importing a document with linked endnotes.

I'm starting with an old InDesign file because I'm working on volume 2 of a multi-book series and want to maintain all my old styles. I don't know if that's relevant, but I have worked successfully placing linked endnotes from word in previous books already. In this one, the endnote references appear to have links but when…

    Hi,
    Thanks for reporting this issue.
We have been able to reproduce the issue locally.

  10. Punctuation at the end of Hebrew text is broken if there is a SHIFT+ENTER in the middle

Punctuation character at the end of Hebrew text is "shift" to the right if a SHIFT+ENTER (line break within the same paragraph) was typed somewhere in the paragraph.

A simple example is shown in the attached image.

Also, in the attached Image I am using the "Adobe Hebrew" font with "Hebrew" set as Language (as can be seen in the attached images).

  11. When I share to review, weird things happen

I have InDesign 15.1.1 and I've been using the new Share to Review feature often. I've noticed that my text and tables would completely disappear on random pages and the Table of Contents became messed up as well. To make the text reappear, I had to adjust the size of the frame by a pixel or two then it would return. It didn't matter if I made the frame bigger or smaller.

  12. Hyperlinks broken over two lines exports incorrectly to PDF

Using InDesign CC 13.0.1, I have some urls in a paragraph that are fairly long so have to break over two lines, e.g.

    www.websiteaddress.com/subpage/
    pagename

When I export to pdf, the link will just link to www.websiteaddress.com/subpage/ and the bit with "pagename" is ignored.

I found similar problems posted online from a few years back and the workaround was to set your hyperlinks using the hyperlinks palette, not just rely on the pdf to detect the links automatically. I've done this manually to my document, but the problem persists. I can get the full link to work behind the first…

  14. [EPV] Footnote references vanish in tables when the Adobe World-Ready Composer is applied

    Hi together,

tested with InDesign 2020 and also with the current InDesign 2023 version 18.1.0.51 on Windows 10.

If I apply one of the two Adobe World-Ready Composers to text in a table the footnote references in the text will vanish.
The footnote texts themselves do not. It's just the rendering of the footnote reference numbers.

See also this thread at Adobe InDesign Forum:

  15. text variable "Year>Modification Date" prematurely outputting "2020" (in 2019)

I just updated to InDesign 2020 on 12-27-2019 and today (12-30-19) was updating some ID documents that have a text variable in the master pages (defined as Year > Modification Date), which suddenly (a few days premature!) is now showing up as 2020, even though we're still in 2019! I thought that changing it to Year > Output Date (which changes the field to show the correct 2019) was a temporary solution, but then my new PDFs output with the date field changed to 2020! ANY document I generate a new PDF from now automatically changes the date field to…

  17. I work with book interiors. Have been reading about the nightmares designers have had adjusting the margins of text boxes

I am not a cool millennial but I work with book interiors. Have been reading about the nightmares designers have had adjusting the margins of text boxes once there are several hundred pages and changing the master pages doesn't alter the actual position of the text boxes. Can I agree with the comments attached below -- to you Adobe company people -- don't **** off loyal users who were using Adobe before the millenials were born -- PLEASE STOP taking away features!!!!! I have recently updated to ID2021. Am I still going to have this bug -- as I now…

  18. InDesign CC2023 forces paragraph in overset

Since the update to InDesign v18.0 (CC2023) the first line of a Paragraph with custom Bullet (Numbering) text, gets forced in overset when the first word is longer than 8-9 characters. They don't flow to the next paragraph and there is still enough space to keep the word in the Text Frame.
In the example you'll see two Text Frames with one with the word "Duurzaamheid" cut in two and the second in overset with no space between "Duur" and "zaamheid" wich forces everything in overset. In InDesign 17.4 everything works as desired. Uploading an InDesign-file was not possible…

  19. problem with optical margin alignment and world-ready paragraph composer

    1. This happens in multiple versions of InDesign. I've reproduced it in ID CS 6 (8.1.0.420), ID CC 2019 (14.0.3.433), ID 2021 (16.4.0.55), and ID 2022 (17.0.0.68).

    2. Steps to reproduce:
      (1) Open InDesign
      (2) Create a new empty document
      (3) Create a text frame that is 100 mm by 100 mm
      (4) Place Text4.txt
      (5) Go Type > Story > check Optical Margin Alignment

    3. Expected result:
The left margin should be somewhat ragged because the * character needs to be shifted left to make the margin appear straight. The right margin should be completely even because each line ends with…

The fix of the issue is now available in the latest InDesign 2024(v19.5.0.084). We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.

If you are unable to see the update, go to the Creative Cloud application and click on the context menu on the top right and click on Check for App Updates.

When I load my custom workplace the character \ paragraph / etc appear as I have saved them, but this randomly disappears - if I go to window and select character the spinning wheel tales 10 - 15 seconds to load up the pallet again and all is Ok for a while, then it disappears again - Tried saving a new workspace many times but always same thin happens - this is only happening after the last update.
