InDesign Corrupt files
InDesign users all have to deal with corrupt files sometime during their career using this program. Usually meaning lost time and, more importantly, money. It would be nice if there was a way to have InDesign or another program scan and fix corrupt files (Adobe FirstAid). Dumping this corrupt file into this program would scan the file, find the cause of the error, and isolate it--almost like a virus scanner. Even if this means a page is lost or margins are messed up. It would be nice to at least get some work saved. For example, I throw in a…

indesign crashes very regularly
Indesign crashes very often these days giving this message [/Development/siriusr11/external/dva/adobe/dvaui/ui/src/OS_UI.cpp-4645], but not autosaving. It seems to happen at different times, can't pinpoint why it does

Deleting an odd number of pages causes the text frame derived from the primary text frame to double
- specify a primary text frame for both the left and right pages on the parent page. (figure1)
- Delete an odd number of pages. At this time, the parent page is reapplied.
- The text frame will be doubled. (figure2)
Deleting (or adding) an even number of pages will not result in this behavior.
Deletion/addition of an odd number of pages should not cause doubling.
Specifically, we would like the text chain of the text frame for which the primary text frame is specified to be retained. (figure3)Reference:
I believe the primary text chain is a feature that was added with…15 votes -
Reading order issue when a footnote is split over to next page or column
When a footnote split over to next page or column, the accessible PDF generated from InDesign CC 2023 has notes reading order messed up. The first note reference on the page where the portion of a note comes in from the previous page/column reads the continued note text and likewise the second note reference reads the first note and so on. Eventually the last note is read at the end regardless it's note reference. It's a serious issue because not only the reading order needs to be fixed for the last note on the page that has splitting to the…

Need Alternative Launch images
I do not think the launch images in photoshop, indesign and illustrator are culturally sensitive. They should not include any people especially not raunchy females (as in photoshops blonde superhero type) female. Who needs that in their life? It doesn't help people be happy with their own partner or spouse to have some perfect looking woman staring at them! They should be totally neutral - landscapes, nature, no people please!! I posted this as a feature request too to at least have the option to disable this launch image. Thank you for your consideration on this issue.

Graphics glitches galore on M1 MacBook Air + external 4K monitor
InDesign 17 on an M1 MacBook Air with Big Sur is barely usable with an external 4K monitor. There are graphic artifacts everywhere, especially near the margins/edge of boxes which makes it hard to know if anything is aligned properly. Everything looks okay on the laptop's built-in display but is distorted on the external.
Also, when scrolling, the screen updates sporadically and usually does the Windows 95-looking stuck window effect.
If I turn off the GPU it looks better when working statically but when scrolling it is even worse.

WorldReady settings go missing in [Basic Paragraph] style
Adobe InDesign (ME) 2021, 2020, CC 2019, ..., CS6
macOS and WindowsInDesign's WorldReady settings (Paragraph Direction, Kashidas, etc.) are being stripped from a document's [No Paragraph Style] style when opened on a machine with a missing 3rd-party plug-in (like Em Software's InCatalog). This appears to happen with any 3rd-party plug-in that adds a text attribute with a prefix that's lower than the WorldReady plug-in's prefix. While the following steps use the Middle Eastern app (English Arabic), where there's a UI to see the style's empty/blank WorldReady entries, we've confirmed that this problem affects all app variants (including English (Roman)).

Spellcheck is grabbing the comma after words, causing an error
Since upgrading to Indesign 2021 v16.0, when I run a spell check, if it catches a word it thinks is misspelled but that word has a comma after it, spellcheck also grabs the comma. If I attempt to Add that word to my user dictionary, I get an error "Words ending in punctuation other than ending periods may not be added into the dictionary". This never happened in previous versions of Indesign. See attached screengrab.
(MacOS Catalina 10.15.7 // Macbook Pro Mid 2015)

Error on Save : "Indesign is unable to save this file. We tried, but appears to be damaged."
Indesign constantly comes up with a weird error when ever I click save while in a document - 'Indesign is unable to save this file. We tried, but appears to be damaged. click Ok.
Also I know in the previous version that whenever I zoomed in too much I would get constant crashes. Hope it's been fixed in the version but I won't hold my breath.

harfbuzz
Compile Harfbuzz with Graphite support enabled.
InDesign 2020 uses Harfbuzz for complex script rendering. Harfbuzz has the capability to use Graphite instructions for rendering complex scripts, but Adobe has compiled Harfbuzz without Graphite support.
Graphite is needed for rendering some character combinations used in languages which are not supported by other font technologies.

Vertical Text Alignment not working correctly in InDesign 2020
I recently upgraded to InDesign CC 2020 and find all the text in circles not aligned vertically center. Document was last opened in CC 2019 and these were fine. I haven’t modified these since. Rectangles are fine. See attached example - clearly not right and inconsistently so. I have tried every setting and I can’t get them to line up. Thanks!

Applying a paragraph style causes text to appear duplicated on screen, but it's not really.
CC 2018, OS High Sierra, both most current, brand new install on a brand new iMac Pro.
If I apply a style using a key command, 90% of the time the text from the cursor down goes crazy, looks duplicated. But if I hit the key command again, or click off the paragraph, or scroll, it goes away and is normal. So it's not really duplicating anything as far as I can tell. I screen captured exactly what it looks like.

World-Ready Composer Is messing up the kerning in Latin fonts
I have reported a variation of this—back with CS6—but it seems not to have been fixed. I assume it's a bug, but if someone can enlighten me about what I might be doing wrong and how I can fix this, I'd appreciate it.
I often work on books that include Arabic and Hebrew words and phrases in the middle of English text. They only way to get the Arabic ligatures to form is to use one of the World Ready composers. When I do that, though, the kerning around some English characters often—but not always—is affected. I have tried turning…

Auto-size text boxes with rounded corners expands randomly.
Version 2018, 13.0
Set a text box to auto size height and width (with no line breaks)
Make the corners rounded
As you can see in the attached jpgs of before and after, sometimes the box expands in width and sometimes in height, but randomly, not wrapping around the text correctly.15 votesHi,
Can you please mail me a sample document to reproduce the issue? I am unable to reproduce the bug.
Is the issue only specific to 13.0? What is the reference point for the autosize?-Aman
