1. One-click export profiles

   I have to export documents with same content but different header/footer versions for different customers. I'm doing by manually switching master pages. This is not part of the export procedure, but still time consuming enough.
   When exporting, it would be nice to have one or mutliple one-click export profiles, like when you need a PDF for web publishing in 150dpi and passworded and another PDF for print in 300dpi, not passworded. My wish: Indesign shall store all settings for an export profile (including password, which it doesn't) and make them avilable as "Save as PDF from profile" with only a dialogue for the target path. Would save time.

2. CC asset anchored inline with text should change size with font in reflowable epub

   For CC library assets anchored inline with text, can these be made to accomodate font size choices in reflowable epubs?

   Jutoh is supposed to be able to do this, but I can't quite get it.

   So far I cannot see how to make an asset, a tiny image to suit 12 point original font, change if the e reader changes font size.

   Creating my assets was many steps also, and I figured it out with unfortunately no luck finding steps in the forum. But they work perfectly InDesign and also Affinity Publisher. They also change size of course manually in the document with no loss. Thank you!

3. ability to package without first saving

   When creating mechanicals I often need to break a large InDesign file up into multiples- this is extremely cumbersome due to a multitude of poor design decisions:

   • Save-as kills file history
   • No option to save pages as individual files
   • and, no ability to use packaging to save into individual folders.

   Please fix all of these

4. "Font Exceptions Table"

   I seem to recall that years ago, Pagemaker had a feature called "Font Exceptions Table" (or something like that, or maybe it was Ventura Publisher). It would allow you to tell PM; "Whenever a text file calls for font A, always replace it with font B." It essentially created a preference file, a table of fonts and their preferred replacement fonts. Hoping for such a feature in InDesign. Example: I produce a periodical newsletter with Optima as the font for the body text. My customer sends me Word and Excel files in which they have used an old TTF font called Optimum. Getting a little tired of doing the Find Font thing so repetitively. Would be nice if there was a way to tell ID; "Always replace Optimum with Optima (normals, bolds, italics, etc.)." Is this possible? Thanks!

6. Provide Mac Pages files to be imported in InDesign.

   I layout books, flyers, brochures, anything that have to be printed. I do that since InDesign V2.0 – Mac OS 9. A big bunch of the people in the publicity, editing and publishing industries work on Macs. I'm still very surpised that InDesign did not yet provide import capability for Mac Pages native files in InDesign. – So I do what I have to do… Open the Pages file, export it to a Micosoft Word file (your all time friend), an then import the Word file I have to work with in InDesign. I'm sure you all know that. I do that for ages… But there are formating flaws due to the conversion to Word. I got the feeling Adobe have gave up to work on the Pages imports. 7. Either copywriting or translation need to be watched

   This message is about idiomatic usages in the interfaces of Adobe products and their mistranslations into other languages.

   When those mistranslations don't cause inadequacy in the Adobe software's useability by professionals because they guess what it meant in the interface, professionals just make fun of them and pass them by.

   But when they can't guess what it meant in the interface, Adobe lose credit because some features of the Adobe software is not known by professionals.

   I will give you an example in the second situation. In the Adobe InDesign software, there is a mistake causes misunderstanding in the Turkish translation.

   In the original English InDesign, there is a phrase "greek vector drawings on drag". In its Turkish translation, they got greek as if it is a language. Please see attached screenshot, see the bottom, red arrow done by me.

   Anyone reading that sentence would think like: "oh yes, because Greek has different alphabet, probably it is about the alphabet's appearence"...

   But this causes InDesign to be taken as "weak and slow in the vectoral way, but because it is a desktop publishing software, it is not its job. Do your vector work in the Illustrator and import it into InDesign as raster and use it like that" in Turkey at least, (probably in other countries too). I met many conversations about vector, raster and text features in graphic artists and desktop publishers. They never know “"To control whether to greek text and images when you scroll a document, drag the Hand Tool slider to the desired level of performance versus quality."    this is only one case. Other mistranslations in Adobe softwares I met so far do not effect the understanding this much. That's why ı never need to write you.

8. Request: Optional Horizontal Page Scrolling (Book-like Viewing) in InDesign

   I mainly work on book and magazine design.
   I would like to request an option to view and navigate pages in InDesign using horizontal scrolling, similar to the experience of reading an actual book or PDF spreads.
   Currently, InDesign’s vertical scrolling workflow makes it difficult to grasp:
   page rhythm and pacing
   the relationship between facing pages
   the overall structure of a book as a physical object
   For editorial designers, books are fundamentally horizontal sequences of spreads, not vertical documents.
   When checking layout balance, typography flow, or visual continuity, vertical scrolling creates a disconnect from the real reading experience.
   If users could toggle between vertical and horizontal scrolling modes, it would greatly improve:
   spread-based editing
   proofing and design decision-making
   alignment with how books are actually read and reviewed
   This would be especially valuable for professionals working in editorial, publishing, and book design.

10. Arrange pages panel

    Being able to drag pages around in the Pages window is fine, but it's incredibly clunky and slow. It's very easy to make mistakes when you can only see 3 minuscule pages at once in the window. Would it be possible to make a new type of window with a grid layout of all your pages, where you can easily select multiple pages and drag pages around?

    Also, as others have mentioned, please implement page folders!! That would be so useful.

12. bring back PageMaker file (.PMD) support or a conversion option in new InDesign versions

    Hello Adobe Team,
    
    I would like to request that Adobe InDesign once again include support (or at least a conversion feature) for opening PageMaker (.PMD) files.

    Many designers and publishers still have important archives created in PageMaker, and it has become very difficult to access or update those files since modern InDesign (CC versions) no longer supports them.

    Even a simple "Convert PMD to INDD/IDML" option or a legacy import plug-in would be extremely useful. It would save time, preserve historical work, and help users migrate old projects without depending on outdated software like InDesign CS6.

    I Know this is Very Old but if Including this Feature Indesign Again Market Leader and Forever.... I have tried many times to switch to InDesign, but I couldn’t because of this problem. I don’t just have one or two PageMaker files — I have a lot of them, and converting or recreating each one is very difficult. That’s why it would be really helpful if the new version of InDesign included a feature that supports opening or converting PageMaker files again. Please consider adding this feature.

13. Capacity to ignore external plug-in

    Hi all.
    I have a work made in Aquafadas (now Rakuten). The plug-in for digital publishing will not be developer again because the brand wil close the business. So, I switch the plug-in to another one (InPublishing) and everything goes fine on 2020. But with InDesign 2021 it seems to be impossible to work. InDesign 2021 made a ceck on files and it seems impossibile to add a file made with a plug-in that is not installed on a Book.
    That's very stupid, because It seems that I cannot work with 2021 because the original plug-in is not installed. BTW the plug-in does not exist anymore so i cannot use 2021 or more?
    That is a big problem because for the future I'm linked to 2020.

    The thing I asked is to cut the ceck on files in 2021 like in 2020, so I can use my file with InDesign 2021. By the way, it's not an Adobe business if I use a plug-in or not!

14. Make it easier to find the option for 4-page spreads.

    The User Guide needs to include information about creating 4-page spreads. For book editing, seeing 8 pages at a time is great (on a larger monitor screen, which as a book publisher I use.). The Page function allows a 4-page spread, or more, when the user disables the Shuffle setting and drags and connects 4 pages together horizontally in the page view. Fine. I found this out on some non-Adobe graphic design forum by luck. This wasn't anywhere in the Adobe InDesign help or user information that I could find. Include this in the User Guide! Improve it so it's labeled better. We can then re-enable Shuffle, with a 4-page spread. I didn't reset my whole 150 page book because I would have to do so manually. Perhaps If I had made my first spread 4-pages, and then placed text automatically it would have created more pages in the 4-page spread view. If that isn't the case, can you offer this? This would great for books, as we can better cut and paste and look for repeated phrases, etc. when viewing two 4-page spreads, for a total of viewing 8 pages at time, instead of 4 pages at a time, the usual view.

16. Highlighting Currently Edited Document In Book

    on to Hello there,

    I edit two copies of a book open at once, each one a different format. If you look at the picture you will see what the two books look like in the books editor-kind of. I am migrating one copy of my book from A4 to ePub for Kindle (why don't you support the .mobi Kindle format or get Amazon to write a plugin for the purpose? I am forced to use Word to write a kindle book). The file are in two different folders. The files have the same name for each book.

    It would be really useful if InDesign highlighted the document in the book panel that I am currently editing. Especially, if you are editing over 30 documents per book.

    I also might have imagined this, but if you have two files open from two different books that have the same name, when you save one of the files, it saves the other file with the same name. This is very "dangerous". I had made edits to one file that I wanted to keep and edits to the other I did not. InDesign saved both files even though only saved using the menu. The result is that it trashed one of the files by putting tentative but major changes on n on top of what was a completed document that I effectively wanted to roll back to-I did not want to keep the changes.

17. Support ODT files

    ODT files are used by open source software Libre Office who inherited from both Open Office and Neo Office. It's used by Microsoft users, Apple Users and Linux users. Since it's open source software, it's 100% free. It allows for the same sort of features that Microsoft does as much as Google Docs does similarly.

    Google currently does support ODT files. (see Screenshot) Shouldn't Adobe follow suit and do the same? Every other program does, so why not Adobe?

    InDesign needs to support ODT files for the following reasons:
    1. LIbre Office is Free.

    1. Adobe costs a lot of money per year and not everyone gets Word or Microsoft office for free. There are Apple users which would make the majority of the population, I would htink considering macs are more stabele for Photoshop, etc. There are also Linux users who would have to purchase Microsoft Word.

    2. Adobe supports other open source extensions on the rest of its software so the excuse that "It just is too hard" doesn't look like a good excuse.

       There is are according to that website 1.5 million downloads of only version 1. Consider how much that has spread since.

    The listed reason doesn't seem cogent from what I know of software engineering and considering Adobe does support open source in other products.

    Unless you're getting 1 trillion dollars from Microsoft to not do it, it doesn't seem like a feasible business plan to block the path of ODT files and their importation if it would lead to a wider user base being able to access adobe products. Why make people pay for 2 programs? Why don't you want people to spend that sweet cash on Adobe and InDesign instead?

    With the boom in the self publishing industry, I think making the ceiling lower and more accessible to Adobe products would be in your best interest over insisting that people use Word. Give Microsoft the competition they should have in the first place and make it a fair, non-collusion market. Shouldn't Adobe want a wider user base?

    How to install Flash Player on your Mac

    Here’s how to install Flash Player on your Mac:

    1. Click the Missing Plug-In button.
    2. Click on Download Flash.
    3. This will take you to https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ which is a legitimate site – if you ever get taken to a site that is clearly not Adobe be very cautious, it is likely you are being taken to a malicious site.
    4. Click on Download Now. The download is ~20 MB.
    5. Wait while the download is initialising.
    6. You will then see the installer appear in your Downloads folder.
    7. Double click on the installer.
    8. Click on Install Adobe Flash Player.
    9. A window will appear warning you that the app has been downloaded from the internet - this warning appears whenever you download an app from the internet and is designed to protect you from app that might not be legitimate. Since you know that this is a legitimate download from Adobe. Click Open.

    11. Wait for the program to install.
    12. You will have to close any programs that also require Flash before you can install the update, click Close All.
    13. Click Continue and wait for Flash Player to install.
    14. Finally, click Finish.

    Please bring back the Indesign CS6 feature of Footnote Leading can be made at zero so that We can have inline footnotes. (Multiple vertical footnotes can be made in the same line horizontally to save space). Please see the attached file as an example. Currently, all the CC Indesign versions by default put a space between footnotes vertically (Leading). No matter what it does not allow the multiple footnotes to be in the same line horizontally. That is like deleting a very useful feature and reducing the capabilities of Indesign for Publishing industry formatters like us.
