Keyboard commands do not respond in document until text field is selected
Indesign 14.0.2 x64
Windows 10After opening any document, the keyboard does not work. Print, open, and quick key selections for tool will not register until I select the type tool with the mouse, and click on a text field so that the cursor appears.
I then have to click on the selection black arrow tool for any keys to start working. I use mainly quick key shortcuts and commands all day, so this occurs every new document opened.
2 votesCould you please try clearing up(or renaming) your preferences and cache for InDesign 2019(14.0).
If you still face the issue after doing the above, please share with us some screenshots and(or) small video demonstrating the problem.-InDesign Team

Logical bug: font weight change to bold and back
System: ID version 17.4.2 on Windows 10.
Problem: some fonts have weights like "Light", next to Regular and Bold. If a text is set to weight Light and you change to Bold by Ctrl+Shift+B, the text becomes bold. When changing it back, it doesn't become Light, but Regular. The logic would be to check if there is a paragraph style applied and what's its default weight and use this when "unbolding".2 votes -
spotcolor name in x-4 exported pdf not a valid utf-8 string
When creating a PDF using german umlauts using InDesign for OS X and export the file as PDF/X-4, the Umlauts are displayed correctly in Acrobat for OS X, but wrong in Acrobat for Windows (and vice versa).
Acrobat Preflight flags the spot colors as " not a valid UTF-8 string"
It looks like the spot colors is generated with the coding of the respective OS, which is not valid by the PDF/X-4 specification

portrait mode - Whether at 125% or 100% the Indesign Interface scaling option under Preferences does not work.
BUG DETAILS- On a Monitor that is setup in a Portrait configuration, whether at 125% or 100% display scale in Windows Settings, the Indesign Interface scaling option under Preferences does not work.
Adobe is a publishing software, especially InDesign. Book Publishers and their graphic design team need to have the option of working in a monitor setup in a Portrait configuration for the purpose of full vertical page (height) dimensions. I cannot get Indesign to Scale the Interface at all under Preferences when monitors are set in Portrait configuration. This is a bug because the InDesign interface does scale…

Fit Content to Frame on textbox makes huge gap at the bottom
InDesign 16.1 x64 on Windows 10
When I select a textbox and select Fit Frame to Content (by shortcut, menu or toolbar button), the textbox is resized correctly on the horizontal plane, but the height of textbox jumps to an incredibly stupid size.
Double-clicking on the bottom centre textbox frame handle then resizes the height correctly - thus creating an extra step for the functionality that was previously a single shortcut key.
Video attached.

Bug with 'based on' paragraph styles: selected style doesn't appear to be 'selected' after mouse over
I have some Indesign documents (CC 2019 and CC 2020, version doesn't matter) where I have a lot (+ 300) of paragraph styles. Most par styles are based on other styles. I can see the name of the style another par style is based on in the dialogue window 'paragraph styles options'.
All my styles are placed in style groups, according to levels.
Within these groups, there are a lot of styles that have the same names as styles in another group. So for instance, I have some 30 styles that are called 'p'. Renaming is in my case no…1 vote -
Assets renamed in web view of CC Libraries don't retain name when imported into document
I've been creating some CC Libraries with quite a few logo assets and have found it easier to do the renaming of the files in web view because it lets me copy/paste a file name, whereas the CC Libraries panel does not.
I've just come across the issue that even though the names appear to have synced when I view the files in the Libraries panel, when I drag/drop or right-click > Place a file into my actual document, the name disappears from the asset in the Links panel. It defaults to whatever it was when i created the asset…

Export options locked
Hi., When customising the Workspace [ i.e. colouring menus and adding Panels to the Panel Dock ] on an Apple Mac, and then subsequently using File->Export, the Drop down list of Export formats are locked out [ i.e. I cannot go from PDF Print to any other format ]. To resolve I have to go back to one of the default Workspaces such as Essentials etc, and then the Dropdown can be accessed. This happens in all recent releases of InDesign including 2019. I imagine the root cause of the fault is more the colouring of the menus rather than…

Fonts defined in existing Paragraph / Character Styles Missing after Creative Cloud font type change
VERSION: InDesign 2022 V 17.0.1
We activated the Museo Sans Rounded font via Creative Cloud and have used it in our documents since 2015. Until recently, the font activated by CC had a font type of OpenType Type 1. This font is still available on CC, but its font type appears to have changed to OpenType True Type.
Documents that used the OpenType Type 1 font in a Paragraph or Character style now show this font as missing. The missing font name now displays as Museo Sans Rounded (OTF) in Find / Replace fonts and Paragraph and Character Styles panels.…

Adobe Fonts: Garamond Premier Pro 'Regular' is buggy, keeps disappearing in Indesign
Hi there,
Adobe Fonts is already fairly buggy and annoying, but InDesign also keeps losing added fonts. (InDesign 20.0.1 x64)
In the drop down font list in InDesign, it splits fonts in the same Add Family into different groups, without giving the groups any kind of unique name so that you can tell which is which, and at the same time, it won't add both groups to the top recently-used section, such that you have to scroll down to find the missing group (and the font you just used), while having to then guess which group is the missing one.…

InDesign Review Feature
My coworker and I are both suddenly facing major problems with the review functionality with Adobe InDesign 16.1 (Windows). This has only been occurring for about 10 days. When the review function actually works instead of an error or just loading nonstop (only works 30% of the time now), the links often don't work in the end for other viewers to review and show up as an error. Now, when this works, the comments from the review link are not showing up where they were placed, and when we go in to implement them manually in InDesign from…

dual monitors - UI stays the size of the small monitor even when I drag it back to the large HD monitor
Windows 10
Monitor 1 is my Huion display tablet 16”
Monitor 2 is main 32" Samsung monitorIf I open InDesign with "extend these displays" checked in the windows display settings and then drag the program back to Monitor 2 (32" Samsung) - the work area is smaller and I cannot drag it to fill the screen. Also the text for all dialog boxes is too small and the program will not release from the settings of the Huion tablet.
I need to be able to have InDesign behave like Photoshop - which opens up with the same…

lexmark printer not printing all elements
We use Lexmark Laser Printer model CS820
Windows 10 OSWe use our indesign file as a template to print custom certificates.
We change the name on the certificate for each customer.
The printer will not print all elements of a design: i.e. the images and text are missing. And
Files will often not print immediately but will 'sit' in the printer memory for up to several minutes before printing.
For a print business this is not acceptable. Please advise with working solutions.
We have a Lexmark CS827 and this works fine.

Cmd/Ctrl+Backspace and Cmd/Ctrl+Delete bugs
Hi,
Cmd/Ctrl+Backspace and Cmd/Ctrl+Delete bugs act erratically in latest InCopy (13.1) on Mac and Windows: contrary to all other apps and InDesign Story Editor, they delete words from seemingly random side of the cursor.
See https://forums.adobe.com/message/10524905
Actual result: Cmd+Del often deletes from left hand side, Cmd+Backspace often deletes from right hand side of the cursor.
Expected result: Cmd/Ctrl+Del always deletes the word to the right of the cursor; Cmd/Ctrl+Backspace always deletes a word from to the left of the cursor.

Error with InDesign (Beta): "Some files required for color management are missing"
Hi, when I start the just-released InDesign (Beta) on Windows ARM, I get the error "Some files required for color management are missing. Please re-install the application to ensure proper functioning".
I've uninstalled and reinstalled, and have used the Creative Cloud Cleaner, but it doesn't resolve the issue. InDesign seems to be running OK even after getting the error, so it's more of a nuisance than anything. I may run into some issues in future with color management though.
- Adobe InDesign (Beta) 19.5 x64 (Mainline CI #09013C9)
- Launch InDesign
- InDesign should start without any errors.

crash split layout view
InDesign (randomly) crashes when copying/pasting from one view to the other in split layout view.
At this time I'm working on a Windows 10 machine with InDesign 17.3 installed, but I've had this isue already for years, going back to InDesign 14. The problem occured also on Mac machines with Sierra and Catalina installed.I can't timely reproduce the issue, it happens randomly, but always with split layout view in use. Only today InDesign crashed already 7 times while I was working in split layout view.

Direct PDF-Export in Data merge copies "page-1-text" to all other pages
In the linked video you can see a bug in Indesign 17.1 x64 on Windows 10.
Data Merge offers two ways to output pages. You can generate a merged Indesign-Document (works) and you can directly export to PDF.
The direct PDF-export doesn't work for me, because texts from page 1 get copied to all other pages instead of using each pages text.
The video shows the comparison between both methods and i just don't see a reason for what is happening.2 votes
