blacked out images with no broken links
InDesign ver 15.0.1
I have a file that displayed all linked images correctly this morning. 90% of the images are linked from my desktop, which is also where the InDesign file is located. 2 of the linked images are from a network cloud server.
After disconnecting from the server and then reopening the file, all linked files appear to have broken links. However when, checking the Links panel, only the images that were linked from the server are broken. This makes sense except that all linked images populate the document as either a gray box or a solid black box.
After relinking all images, they appear normal on screen again. Prior to relinking them, I did a PDF export and all images appear correct in the PDF.
This has happened on several files recently, with no easy solution to get the images restored.
I expect that the images that are not broken links should display correctly and only broken links should display as blurred or black boxes.
What I'm getting is no broken links, and nearly all images displaying as black.

In my particular case an InDesign document was placed into another InDesign document,
and it contained an image with Multiplication filter.
On the containing InDesign document itself the Multiplication filter is applied on the white default background of the page.
But when the InDesign is placed (inside the other InDesign), the Multiplication filter is applied to the elements below (which was a dark/black rectangle in this case), hence the whole image visually disappeared.
The fix was adding a white rectangle below the whole InDesign to be placed. -

I'm experiencing the same issue. I tried resaving in Photoshop as a different file name, doesn't work. I tried deleting the gray box image, then placing the linked image in again, doesn't work either. This is frustrating.

I search in spotlight for the unbroken image and re-insert. Tedious when you have lots of images. If that doesn't work. Open image in photoshop and resave. It seems to fix. Silly error considering all OK in links. Hopefully they fix soon.
