InDesign links and Box Drive
This appears to be an issue only with InDesign and Box Drive.
Steps to reproduce:
1. In InDesign, link to an Illustrator file or PDF with multiple artboards, layers, or pages from the Box Drive folder.
2. Place the file and select a single artboard or page.
3. Save, close, and re-open the file.Result:
The linked file will no longer update. Perpetually needs updating even though the file hasn't changed.
The workaround is to save the linked file to Adobe Libraries.Expected:
The file link should show that it is updated in the links panel.

alternate layouts
I want to prevent Indesign from adding alternate layouts to my file. I sometimes have to move pages from one document to another. I am using the page panel-move pages and then telling it the document I want the pages moved to. It adds an alternate layout. Is there a way to prevent this from automatically happening? It should be a feature that I turn on IF I WANT it. not one that I can't turn off.

Control bar disappears from view when switching applications in cc 2018
When I switch from an application back to InDesign cc 2018 the control bar/panel will sometimes disappear. The only way I can get it back is to change workspace to "Essentials" and then return it to my custom workspace. This did not happen with InDesign cc 2017.
My specs are as follows:
OS 10.11.6 (15G1510)
iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015)
4 GHz Intel Core i7
8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3

index marker grep bug in findchangelist
The prelisted double to single space query in the findchangebylist.jsx also delets index markers between spaces.
While using the find-exchange window in ID to first look for [space]+(~I+)[space]+ to exchange it with [space]$1 works well enough, putting this in the findchangelist.txt, it deletes the index markers aswell. (note: [space] is only to visualize a regular space. I'm not writing it out in my queries.)

Export options locked
Hi., When customising the Workspace [ i.e. colouring menus and adding Panels to the Panel Dock ] on an Apple Mac, and then subsequently using File->Export, the Drop down list of Export formats are locked out [ i.e. I cannot go from PDF Print to any other format ]. To resolve I have to go back to one of the default Workspaces such as Essentials etc, and then the Dropdown can be accessed. This happens in all recent releases of InDesign including 2019. Instead of making a new package every time it would be really handy to be able to update an existing package.
proposed Use Case/action:
a new menu item: Update Package… > Show package in Finder/Windows Explorer > Only the items that are not in the existing package will be added (the items in the package that are not used will be kept in the updated package)

Selection Tool Doesn't Allow Dragging to Move After Windows Update
Using InDesign 20.1 x64 on Windows 11. After the recent Windows security update (KB5051987), the Selection Tool no longer allows dragging to move elements on a second monitor. It could be related to the fact the monitors are not the same size and do not have the same UI scaling. It functions properly on my laptop screen but I normally work from my larger 2nd monitor and it is no longer functioning properly there. The Free Transform tool still works.

PDFs Export to Google Drive as 0 Bytes, for Anyone on MacOS Ventura
Sometime in approximately late January 2023, my workgroup began having difficulty exporting PDFs from InDesign to our Google Drive. The PDF files appear on the Drive but as 0 bytes and can't be opened/viewed from the Chrome side of the Drive. We have isolated the problem as specific to anyone who is on MacOS Ventura. We believe the problem stems from a late January/early February upgrade to either the Google Drive, InDesign or Ventura (or perhaps a perfect storm combo of all three). Adobe Indesign 2024 - frequent "Hang" issues & "error report" messages.
We recently purchased Adobe Indesign 2024 and we are frequently facing "hang" issues where the screen gets stuck on opening an indesign file or while adding few lines of texts while editing a file. we are neither able to perform any further action nor close the indesign program. Only if we end the task we are able to exit.
We have also been getting error report frequently and the working indesign file gets closed.
In addition to that for the past 2 days, we are getting a pop-up message showing "do you want automatic recovery?" message, clicking yes on…

BUG : Red panels and shifted elements
It appears randomly, often when I open a second ID file, the first opened get some red panels and all the elements are shifted.

Disable automatic sect-tags on PDF export
When exporting a tagged PDF, InDesign automatically creates Sect-Tags for each story. I would like to be able to disable this feature on export for the following reasons:
- As far as I know, they are of limited value for screen reader users. The content is usually already well structured by means of an appropriate heading structure.
- It is very difficult to integrate figures into a story in a semantically correct/meaningful way. When anchoring them in the text, they will be nested in p-tags, which is according to PDF/UA not correct semantically. Hence, I avoid creating stories and use the article …

I am working on a diplom project right now, and faced a really annoying bug in InDesign. I want to create a rollover bar, wich slides up when I rollover / hover with my mouse over a certain object. Stroke Style not working
When creating a line, the drop down menu on the side bar or in separate window does not work. The style options will not open, no ability to change the line style. I have restarted InDesign, and tried new files, it doesn't work.

Adobe InDesign 2024 (v19.0) - Unable to create own style pack (error popup)
When I try to create a new style pack I get the dialog to apply different styles. When choosing the according styles for Heading, Subheading,... I only get an error pop up. When confirming, I get another alert, a couple of times in a row (for every following style to apply one). After confirming all alerts I get one or more text frames filled with example text (no specific format / settings) on the first page of the document.

Items Dirty the Document When No Change To Doc Was Made

STEPS:
1) Open the provided file called Dirty File.inddRESULT:
The title bar shows an * in front of the name, indicating a change has been made to the file (it's "dirty") although no change was made. This is a problem,, as I wonder if my file is leaking memory or will become unstable if more items or pages are added to it.OTHER TEST #1:

eye dropper tool missing
Return the eyedropper to the tool panel. I rely on this tool daily and suddenly, it is gone. Why would Adobe take this away? I'm really annoyed. It looks like other people posted this same question a year ago, but mine was here on Friday and today it's not.

palettes stay closed
Our entire department recently did the newest update to Adobe InDesign (21.0)
Steps to reproduce the issues: Close document and open another oneEvery single time I open a new file (which is many times per day) the pallets do not pop open. The workspace still looks like it should and when I click on a pallet to use it, it highlights like it would if it was popped open for use but nothing happens.
Expected result: Pallets pop open so I can make changes on my file
