How do you disable the new "Alt Text" icon that shows in the lower-left corner of image frames?
It's like the AI feature that was added in Illustrator. I can't find an option to disable it and it's very distracting. It looks like a mistake in the artwork and will stay the same size regardless of zoom level. Disabling the two Alt Text features in Generative AI preferences did NOT fix this.

You can override it from the right-click menu item Object Export Options... > Alt text Source: > Decorative (No alt text). And then in Preferences > Generative AI > Alt Text > Auto-generate Alt Text when placing images to stop it from attempting to generate the Alt Text and thus give you the annoying error icon when it fails.
I agree it's not ideal to have them suddenly appear all over the place (can't new global settings default ot off so they can be tested?!)... but I suspect hiding the information from view might not be the best solution (they do hide in preview mode already).
It'd be better to be able to change this setting in bulk (for every object selected) and/or change it via Find/Change (at the moment the option to change it to "Decorative (No Alt Text)" is missing from the list in the Find/Change Object dialogue).

Naina, thank you for confirming. Please consider adding a way to disable this like the Illustrator team did. We use InDesign for Imposition and have absolutely no need for this AI feature. It genuinely looks like a mistake in the artwork which is problematic from a prepress perspective

Thanks for reporting this.
What you’re seeing is the alt text icon -canvas indicator, which currently can’t be disabled and doesn’t scale with zoom. The Alt Text preferences don’t affect this behavior.
We understand it can be distracting and have shared this feedback with the team for consideration. Thanks,
