1. When I copy and paste from Illustrator CC into InDesign CC, instead of the vector art I get this text.

2. AI-generated Alt Text for images should NOT be on by default

   Gross decision to have this "feature" on by default. Good thing I didn't miss the popup on startup, I NEVER want any AI features at all ever, let alone to have to OPT OUT? Madness. Also ridiculous is the option to turn off the the "AI generated content" tag on this "feature" at all. Why would you allow that? I guess it's in line with all of the untagged AI on Adobe Stock lol.

3. Latency issue on Mac since version 20.0.1

   Every action, every time I switch back to InDesign after using another application, every event is preceded by a 1-2 second delay. When spending the whole day working on InDesign, this becomes unbearable. This is the first time I've experienced this, and it has been happening since the new version 20.

   See video. The Mac "spinning wheel" appears multiple times in one minute. Imagine this over several hours or days.

   Adobe, cold you please fix it asap?

4. Flipped text in PDF created from Canva

   When placing a PDF with certain stylized fonts, the text is being flipped and enlarged. Seems to be specific to Mac OS.

   PDF docs have been created in Canva. They appear correctly when opened in Adobe Acrobat Pro, both on Windows and Mac. They are being placed in InDesign, and at that time the text titles being flipped and enlarged. I am working from v. 16.0.1. This was not an issue in previous versions. When I use png docs instead, and place those, I have no issues. I have been an Indesign user for about 3 years.

5. What about screenplay? Will InCopy replace Story?

   Hello everyone.

   I know that Story will be discontinued, and I noticed that the InCopy just came to play.

   I was happy to have a screen writing software that I have already paid for, even though I am an adobe client for it's video editing softwares.
   If InCopy is capable to assist me on writing, I will not need to spend more money on writing

   What I need from InCopy is what I had on story regarding to format, I mean: Scene Header, Action, Character, Parenthesis and Dialog... I just hit one key and I can swap between what I need and write the script without having to worry about format

   Can it be considered for a next update? Now, with the discontinuation of Story, there is no tool for screenwriting whatsoever. I really thought/wished/hoped that InCopy could and would take on that task

   Adobe is always so proud to be a complete production tool. It has even an ingesting and logging software... but the genesis of all that is the script
   And adobe just abandoned the birth of production... This is sad.

6. Search option is not working on EPUB fixed Layout

   I have found a problematic bug for .epub files exported from InDesign and opened in Adobe Digital Editions. The fixed layout epub file is not searchable.

   To note, an epub file exported from InDesign and marked as re-flowable does work.

   This is a SIGNIFICANT issue for me and here's why. I have a 700 page interactive book (includes embedded hyperlinks, videos, audio files) that needs to be distributed and opened by the general population and searchable.

   1) The design of the book is formatted per page and needs to remain as laid out in InDesign. This means we can NOT use the re-flowable option.

   2) For years, we've exported as INTERACTIVE PDF. This allowed users to open with the FREE Adobe Reader and enjoy all the embedded media and search. However, as an exported pdf format, Adobe Acrobat uses flash to play video and audio rather than a different means and as I'm told, due to the removal of flash, Adobe Reader will no longer allow for interactive pdfs to have audio and video controls. So that makes a PDF format not usable for this project. (infuriating!)

   3) Next Option: Publish to Online. However, this option does not allow for search and does not include password protection. Again, making this exported format not usable for my client.

   4) Next option: .Epub. On my mac, the same mac that creates the Indesign file, within Adobe Editions, the epub file works as expected. However, it does not work on any PC that we've tested. The fixed-format has an error and is not searchable and on some computers, the epub file will NOT even open in Adobe Digital Editions. Again, making this exported .epub file format unusable.

   IMPORTANT: Where does this leave me? What format can I use and distribute from InDesign?

   This seems LIKE A HUGE ISSUE for ADOBE and is very detrimental to my professional work.

   I've been told that Adobe Digital Editions is an end-of-life product and no longer has support. What application is InDesign exporting epub files to work in then? What other viewing options does my client have?

   Please help!

8. When opening InDesign 2020 files I get a message that the file is damaged. See screenshot. The same file will open with Adobe 2019.

   When opening the file in ID 2019, I get the message that links are missing. Perhaps ID 20 thinks that the file is damaged because the links are missing, so I get the damaged message.
   Using InDesign 2020 on a late 2015 iMac running MacOS 10.14.6, 32GB Ram

9. Fonts only showing in drop down, cannot type them directly in

   Issue:
   Highlight text
   Click on the font Window (mine is displayed on right)
   begin to type in installed or adobe font, font does not populate

   When I type in a font, I expect to be able to populate it

   Wen I try to finish typing the font in the searchbar, it doesn't let me type in the next letter and just gives me a different font. Some fonts don't show up or do once and never again, yet are in font dropdown. This includes both installed OTC and installed Adobe fonts.

    Steps to reproduce the issues:
    1. Create a new document.
    2. Select File > Place, check Show Import Options, select attached Columns_26.xlsx file.
    3. Note nonstandard default Cell Range: A1:A@10 (should be A1:Z10).
    4. Enter custom (valid) Cell Range "A1:E5"

    Expected result:
    No error and a table containing cells A1 through E5.

    Actual result:
    Error message, "You have not entered a valid 'Cell Range'. (See attached screenshot.)

    This error is given for any sheet whose right-most column is a multiple of 26 (so Z, AZ, BZ, etc.). Place the attached Columns_52.xlsx with range "A1:E5", for example.

    Adding/removing a column (attached Columns_27.xlsx file) avoids the error.

    Versions of Adobe InDesign:
    CS6 through CC 2018.0, Windows and macOS

12. Fonts won't visibly load, but preflight is green. Close the doc and reopen - fonts work again.

    macOS Mojave 10.14.6
    InDesign 15.1 & 15.1.1

    When a document is open, some of the fonts will not visibly load. However when you go to Type > Find/Replace it shows there are no font issues. Preflight is green and all fonts are listed as "OK". We then immediately close the document and reopen it everything looks fine. When the same document is opened hours later the problem repeats itself.

    Notes:
    • It appears that fonts loaded from the Document Folder ONLY are OK.
    • Fonts that are loaded simultaneously in Font Book and the Document Fonts folder fail to display correctly.
    • We do not use Adobe fonts.
    • Fonts are typically either in Font Book, and/or they are in the Document Fonts folder for most of our jobs.
    • One of the InDesign files experiencing this bug was created in 2019.
    • Making a Press PDF while the fonts are bugged out creates a PDF that displays everything properly.
    • If I try to print the InDesign file with this font bug, the document fails to print and gives me the following error: “Printing Error: The Adobe Print Engine has failed to output your data due to an unknown problem.”

    Things I've tried:

    • Clearing font caches in macOS
    • Clearing the macOS Library Caches
    • Deleting the AdobeFnt.lst file in the Documents fonts folder
    • Moving Document fonts folder elsewhere, open the file, then move doc fonts back.
    • Repackaging the job
    • Turning off the Adobe Fonts service located in the Creative Cloud app
    • Leaving the document open for over an hour to see if fonts would load on its own.

    Bug replication:

    In some instances, moving the Document Fonts folder to the desktop, opening the file, close it and moving the Document Fonts folder back to its original location would trigger this bug. But it doesn’t work all the time. The steps below are more consistent with replicating the bug.

    1. Delete the AdobeFont22.lst from the Document Fonts folder.
    2. Open the document - fonts are broken (even though they are also loaded in the system). Preflight is green.
    3. Close document.
    4. Open the document again and the fonts load properly.

    We did not encounter this bug until 15.1.

13. screen flickering sonoma

    I know this is a known issue, but after 4 months, I would have hoped that a fix would have been developed by now. My fault for now researching before upgrading to Sonoma, but come on guys. I seriously can't believe how terrible my experience has been with both the new Macs and Adobe software. I have been doing design for 18 years, and have never had as much trouble in that time as I have had from both company's products in the last year. This is ridiculous! It is unfortunate for users that we have no other viable options to move to.

    I know this is a known issue, but after 4 months, I would have hoped that a fix would have been developed by now. My fault for now researching before upgrading to Sonoma, but come on guys. I seriously can't believe how terrible my experience has been with both the new Macs and Adobe software. 14. tables jumping to next page

    Sometimes tables that fit on one page jumps to the next page causing reflow. It does this randomly and can't figure out why. This has to be caused by bug in indesign. I really wish Adobe would focus more on fixing the many bugs in its programs rather than adding new features.

15. InDesign Application Frame cannot be moved between desktops on macOS Monterey, via Mission Control

    The InDesign application frame cannot be moved between desktops on macOS Monterey via dragging the top edge of the window to the top of Mac desktop and then selecting a different desktop to drop it into in Mission Control. This is contrary to behavior in other programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom Classic. InDesign can be moved to a different desktop by dragging it to the left or right edge of the screen but it is preferable to have the functionality using the top of edge of the current desktop so the desired window can be chosen. I am running macOS Monterey version 12.5.1 and InDesign version 17.4. I'm not sure if this is a bug or intended product feature but is something I think would be nice to have.

16. Cannot place Excel .xlsm files

    Adobe InDesign 2021's File > Place... dialog does not allow the selection of Excel .xlsm files even though it appears to be capable of importing them.

    On Windows, this can be worked around somewhat painfully by showing "All Files" in the Place dialog, but in macOS there is no similar workaround.

17. Freezing when working via network drive

    When working with a file directly from a shared network drive (or p: drive) Adobe InDesign will intermittently freeze/hang up and require a forced shutdown/task manager or a full computer restart.

    There is no crash log generated until the application is force closed so event viewer does not show anything relevant until after I've closed the program. There is nothing to suggest that there was a process running that caused the error (per event viewer logs).

    I can work on that same file when it's saved locally.

    I am currently on the latest version of Adobe InDesign, and I did not have issues with working on files off p: drive/network drive for many versions of InDesign until Adobe 2026 specifically 21.2+

18. password protection makes it impossible to watch PDF on iOS

    There is a bug in exporting a protected PDF to iOS Adobe Acrobat Reader. If I put a password protection for printing, text editing and content coping in the PDF, the Acrobat Reader on iOS can't show the file. The app crashes or every (!) page needs between 4 and 7 minutes to show up. Within this 4-7 minutes the page is simply grey or white. If I export the same InDesign document without password protection, the iOS Adobe Reader shows it perfectly and normal. As a workaround I exported it without password protection, opened on the Mac in Acrobat Pro, added here the password for editing, printing and coping - same result, it doesn't work. All systems (macOS, iOS, iPadOS as well as the Adobe Reader) are running on most actual versions. Please fix this asap, I need to deliver this file. It may can be also a bug in the iOS Adobe Reader, because Acrobat Pro on the Mac as well as the macOS preview shows it perfectly.

    There is a bug in exporting a protected PDF to iOS Adobe Acrobat Reader. If I put a password protection for printing, text editing and content coping in the PDF, the Acrobat Reader on iOS can't show the file. The app crashes or every (!) page needs between 4 and 7 minutes to show up. Within this 4-7 minutes the page is simply grey or white. If I export the same InDesign document without password protection, the iOS Adobe Reader shows it perfectly and normal. 19. Generating traceable and dynamic QR codes

    Currently, creating codes with InDesign is very simple, but limiting. In fact, it is not possible to trace the code or modify it once it is printed.

    To create dynamic QR codes, with modifiable links after printing, it is necessary to rely on third-party websites, such as QR code generator, which however requires a paid subscription.

    If instead we simply want to trace a link, we can upload it to BITLY... but always outside Adobe.

    It would be useful to have all this already included in Adobe, maintaining the ease of creation, the possibility of modifying the link once your account is still printed, and having more security, avoiding external sites. Additionally, the same function could be replicated in Illustrato

20. Hidden content in pdf export

    Adobe InDesign CC 2017. While exporting the file into a PDF. In the PDF while searching for a word I found some sort of ghost fields (picture ghostfields.png). Then I found out that the problem is caused by graphics that we use internally. There are mostly more than just one graphic in one Illustrator file (picture illustratorfile.png). It is saved as an ai, not eps. InDesign exports the parts of those graphics that are actually not visible in InDesign (picture error2.png). I could not find out why, or how to solve it. And because of those ghost field you can not search for anything within the pdf. The only solution was to export the pdf, and then print the pdf with adobe pdf to create a new 'clean' pdf.
