Flipped text in PDF created from Canva
When placing a PDF with certain stylized fonts, the text is being flipped and enlarged. Seems to be specific to Mac OS.
PDF docs have been created in Canva. They appear correctly when opened in Adobe Acrobat Pro, both on Windows and Mac. They are being placed in InDesign, and at that time the text titles being flipped and enlarged. I am working from v. 16.0.1. This was not an issue in previous versions. When I use png docs instead, and place those, I have no issues. I have been an Indesign user for about 3 years.
The fix for this issue is available in the latest InDesign release 16.2.1
Please update to this latest version to get the fix.

We experience this issue with Canva PDFs as well. Makes layout very frustrating, but everything prints normally. If we distill the PDF's or run them through the Mac Quartz filter the issue goes away. Have only experienced the issue with files clients have made in Canva.

Am also experiencing this, in Indesign 2021 on two different iMacs. Same Canva PDF files do not create a problem in InDesign 2020. And 2021 seems to still export a PDF properly - it's just the preview that's messed up.

I am experiencing this issue too! I use InDesign often for imposing or adjusting files for print (working in Prepress for a print company). I have just received multiple Canva files that have some really wonky typeface issues. Looks good in the PDF. There appears to be font permissions, so maybe that is the problem? But I am not editing the pdf, just attempting to place it and perhaps shrink or enlarge the PDF on a new page. Operating 16.1

Yes! My coworkers and I are having the same issue. I think it's something Canva does to it's PDFs to make sure you use their program and nothing else. When I drag the PDFs into Illustrator they open fine and when I then save them as a PDF and place in InDesign there are no issues. However, thats extra work, especially if you need to do this for multiple files.
