1. Find similar image

   On the latest update 18.4, the find similar image function is not working like before. I've even used an image from the Adobe stock library and it cannot find its own image. With the last version, this feature worked as expected.

   To reproduce this issue, place an Adobe stock image in InDesign, right-click on it and choose "find similar image".

2. hide cursor in presentation mode

   When in presentation mode (shift+w) I would like to be able to hide the cursor. Even if I move it to the edge of the screen, it's still visible and distracting from the presentation itself.

3. [ID-4265002][ExtendScript] Folder.execute() no longer works in Indesign 20.4

   Folder.execute() no longer reveals the folder and activate the Finder. It does nothing. Tested on Indesign 20.4 on MacOS 15.5.

   Steps to reproduce:

   1. Run this ExtendScript:

   Expected result: activating the Finder, revealing the Desktop folder.

   Actual result: nothing.

4. Print to PDF with trapping gives undefined error.

   How about Adobe fix this problem of printing to PDF with trapping. It had been giving this problem since v18. Every printer that images film or plates use the trapping feature for assistance in press registration. Adobe InDesign is useless in creating PDF files with trapping. I guess I will have to start using my Quark Xpress program to do this.

5. PDF Export causes Acrobat to crash

   I am having trouble exporting InDesign files to PDF.

   This is what I'm seeing:
   Exporting PDFs from InDesign works fine if no PDF is open. If you have a PDF already open or are exporting a 2nd PDF with the first still open it crashes Adobe.

   I have updated Windows to a later version, checked drivers, the event viewer logs. I looked for similar issues online, repaired Acrobat from Control panel and from within the app.

   Please share any advice.

6. "comp_core_log" folder is created

   1. Adobe InDesign 16.2.1.102
   2. When the component information dialog is displayed for the first time after launching InDesign.
   3. Just the component information dialog is displayed.
   4. An empty folder named "compcorelog" is created on the desktop.

   This may not be a bug, but deleting an empty folder every time I check the document history is a bit annoying.

7. Drop shadow changing position and shape on rotated objects and exporting incorrectly to PNG

   Drop shadows move unexpectedly on rotated objects. It creates a visual glitch that can be seen toggling Overprint Preview On/Off.

   Incorrect drop shadow can be seen in PNG export.
   Correct drop shadow can be seen in PDF.

   To recreate the bug:

   1) Draw a shape or a create a text frame
   2) Apply a drop shadow to the object (any setting, video is with Adobe default)
   3) Rotate the object
   4) Move the object around the live page until the drop shadow starts moving unexpectedly (offset varies).
   5) Export to PNG.

   InDesign 21.2
   Sequoia 15.7.3
   Macbook Pro M4 Max

   This was not observed in version 20 of InDesign. This is a significant bug as it creates a working file that does not reflect exports.

8. Share for Review: there was an error updating the artifact. NOT updating!

   Adobe InDesign CC 2024

   I am working a magazine. The size is pretty large, lots of pictures. I was able to create the Share for Review link, and share it. But I am unable to update. Although, I copy the link, open the address in Google Chrome and my edits show. When I mark a pin resolved, it does not show in my indesign file.

9. Anomalous character missing glyph in the Story editor – Serious file problems

   I report a bug regarding an InDesign document of an anomalous character that is found in the "Story editor", which has already been reported in older versions of Adobe Indesign.
   (OS version: BigSur 11.3.1)
   (Adobe InDesign version: 16.2)

   As you can see in the examples that I attach, the text presents problems and I believe it is caused (or highlighted) by the missing glyph signs in each line of the "story editor", which does not appear to exist in the text.

   The problem is not solved by making the file idml.
   I tried to fix it by copying the text and placing it in a new InDesign file, the result didn't change.
   Then I tried to paste the text into "Microsoft Word" and after copying it again I brought it to a new InDesign file and, in that case, the problem disappears (unfortunately, however, I cannot do it with the entire text of the book because it is too complex and I'd basically have to start the job all over again). So I think the bug is only referable to certain files.

   I also tried to create a new document by importing all the pages from the old one, but even this operation did not solve the problem.
   In addition to this anomaly, I also noticed that clicking in some places of the text (to insert text or delete it manually) the cursor is positioned more and more to the left of where I click (for example, if I click after the last letter of the word after which I want to insert a text, the cursor is positioned between the penultimate and the last letter of that word, it is very annoying on a long job).

   The same thing happened to my colleague in the department: another document caused many more problems than mine, especially on a certain page, whatever action he performed, the file often slowed down until the program was closed, it was very difficult for him to complete a job that was now in its final phase.

10. Package-PDF and Export-PDF create different results

    Mac OS Monterey 12.6 / Adobe InDesign 18.3

    Function "Create Package" with a PDF and selected job.options (PDF Presets) creates PDF with wrong downsampling for images.

    Function "Export PDF" with same PDF Preset creates PDF with expected quality

    Why is there a difference?

    Dear Adobe Team,

    Can someone please explain why the Command + Space + drag-to-zoom behavior in InDesign was altered? This used to be a seamless, intuitive part of the workflow — one of those tiny things that made a big difference for power users.

    Now, depending on the version or OS, it either doesn’t work, lags, or flat-out refuses to cooperate unless I perform keyboard yoga. This is not an improvement. This is disruption disguised as innovation.

    I’m not asking for a new feature. I’m asking you to restore a basic function that worked perfectly well for decades. Was there truly a wave of users begging you to complicate the zoom tool?

    Please bring back the classic Command + Space + drag zoom behavior. Some of us have muscle memory older than your interns.

12. ePub

    I create very simple ePubs in Indesign CC 2018. When I export them as ePub version 3 they print perfectly from Adobe Digital Editions on a Mac but print as blank pages or spool to postscript indefinitely from Adobe Digital Editions, on a PC, in Windows. When exported in the older version ePub 2.01 they work and print fine on both Mac and Windows. So my question is: why is ePub version 3 an option from Indesign when it isn't fully supported in Adobe Digital Editions on the Windows platform most popular with the user base? Is there a solution/workaround other than reverting to version 2.01?

14. 'Background tasks' que updating fonts and so cannot PDF files

    I cannot PDF as in the 'Background tasks' que its updating fonts and I cannot stop it doing this and have to restart InDesign. Sort it out please. Also Adobe fonts are often not accessible and as a Studio we have been told to avoid using them.

15. Problem copying font from Acrobat Pro DC PDF (to Word and Indesign)

    [Adobe Indesign 2021 - 16.3 / Suitcase Fusion 21.3.0]

    Since the last update, I am unable to copy/paste from a PDF in Acrobat the accented characters of the French dictionary (ô, é, è, ç, à) to Word or Indesign, whatever the font is (Adobe font or personal font).

    The glyph disappear when pasted.

    The glyphs exists in the dictionary when looking at the panel in Indesign.

16. InDesign Review Feature

    My coworker and I are both suddenly facing major problems with the review functionality with Adobe InDesign 16.1 (Windows). This has only been occurring for about 10 days. When the review function actually works instead of an error or just loading nonstop (only works 30% of the time now), the links often don't work in the end for other viewers to review and show up as an error. Now, when this works, the comments from the review link are not showing up where they were placed, and when we go in to implement them manually in InDesign from the weblink, the weblink automatically updates in real time and all comments shift over.

17. current page marker font malfunction if 3 digits or more

    The third digit and beyond in the "current page number" marker is distorted in certain fonts, and almost appears to be an old style number (shifted down and squished), even when I set the font's Figure Style to "Proportional Lining" under Paragraph Style > OpenType Features > Figure Style. In fact, it also seems to do it in automated footnote reference numbers, where control of the Figure Style doesn’t seem to work either. However, when I just type out the number using the same style, it appears correct. This issue appears to be in Adobe InDesign 2024 (19.3), but when I got back to ID 2023 (18.5.2) the issue disappears.

    This is a HUGE issue because I am a book designer, and most of the books I design are go into 3 digit page numbers or more -- and if I can't control the look of the font, then it forces me to go back to ID 2023 to make it work. It doesn't appear to be an issue in all fonts, but for the ones I tested, it seems to be in ones that have Figure Style options under the OpenType options (such as Proportional vs. Tabular, Lining vs. Old Style, etc.)

    1. Version: Adobe InDesign 19.3 (v. Adobe InDesign 18.5.2)
    2. Steps to reproduce the issues: Create a document that is length of 100 pages or more. Add a "current page marker" on the parent page. (I made an example on pages 208-209 in the attached documents. Apply a paragraph style for a folio that has a font that has options. (I used “Adelle” from the Adobe Fonts library for my examples.) It seems like anything above 3 digits, the third digit and beyond are distorted or don’t seem to be the correct Figure Style.
    3. Expected result: I expect to be able to control the Figure Style of an OpenType font within the paragraph style and not have this distorted character on the third digit and beyond in automated numbering – both the current page marker and the automated footnote reference.
    4. Actual result: Distorted digits anything the third digit or beyond, even when the OpenType > Figure Style settings are changed.
    5. I have attached 2 test files and a screenshot, one from 2023 where everything appears normal and the other from 2024 (see pages 208-209 in both docs for an example of the difference).

    I don't seem to be able to upload my test InDesign files -- so if somebody could please help I can send them to you.

18. Adobe must immediately prioritize the RENDER OF FILE THUMBNAIL PREVIEW of .indd file on Mac Desktop/finder

    How can a an application of visual asset creation not render a visual preview thumbnail on Mac OS Finder? This is patently absurd and frustrating beyond comprehension! Please prioritize the RENDERING OF A THUMBNAIL PREVIEW for all INDD Files on Mac OS!!

19. Issues in rendering some Assamese conjuncts

    The Assamese 'reph' and 'rakaar' are not properly rendered while using the Assamese font "Banikanta", a font released by Govt. of Assam in India. The font can be downloaded from http://www.publicationboardassam.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Banikanta.zip

    The font works well in all the other tools and platforms including MS-Word, Libre office etc.

    Being associated with the development of this font, I have seen that the issue is seen due to the problem of the improper rendering of Adobe InDesign. In this font we have skipped the mapping of Bengali "Ra" (U+09B0) to construct the 'reph' and 'rakaar" as it is not used in Assamese and instead used the Assamese "Ra"(U+09F0). But even when Assamese “Ra” is typed to form the “reph” or “rakaar”, Indesign converts it to Bengali ‘Ra” and since we have not mapped the Bengali “Ra” to “Reph” and “Rakaar”, it doesn’t not display in the desired form.
    
    Moreover, there is another problem. When U+09AF BENGALI LETTER YA (antaḥstha za) occurs as the last member of a consonant cluster it has a special shape called ya-phalā. But in Assamese ya-phalā shape should occur only when U+09DF (Yya) occurs as the last member of a consonant cluster. The font has this provision, but Adobe InDesign fails to render it correctly.

    The problem can be reproduced in Adobe InDesign CS6 (Version 8.0)

20. Unable to package some InDesign files, error message appears

    Adobe InDesign CC 2017.1 release, 12.1.0.56 x64 build for Windows
    Open an .indd file, press File menu and select package menu item.
    Expected result: the file (catalog) is packaged.
    Actual result: the file (catalog) is NOT packaged. An error occurs about missing plugins: STEP-N-DESIGN.LOGIC.WIN.CC10.PLN EXTENSISFONTMANAGEMENTIDCC2014X64.APLN. (see attachment).
    Additional information: this problem occurs only by some files, not by all of them.
