1. World-Ready Composer Is messing up the kerning in Latin fonts

   I have reported a variation of this—back with CS6—but it seems not to have been fixed. I assume it's a bug, but if someone can enlighten me about what I might be doing wrong and how I can fix this, I'd appreciate it.

   I often work on books that include Arabic and Hebrew words and phrases in the middle of English text. They only way to get the Arabic ligatures to form is to use one of the World Ready composers. When I do that, though, the kerning around some English characters often—but not always—is affected. I have tried turning on and off various settings—justification settings, kashidas, etc.—and their effect seems to be random. Sometimes the changes fix the problem until the page redraws, sometimes the errant kerning is corrected in one location but shows up in another location, sometimes nothing happens at all. I'm attaching two screen captures of a book that I have in production now with the word "economics" selected in each. In the shot with the World-Ready Paragraph Composer active, you can see the extra kerning between the "e" and the "c." In the shot with the WRPC deactivated, the word looks as it should.

   Is this a bug? If not, what am I doing wrong? If it is, when might we expect a fix. Unfortunately, I have a deadline on this project now and can't see any reasonable way to fix this. Thanks for considering this problem.

2. InDesign Corrupt files

   InDesign users all have to deal with corrupt files sometime during their career using this program. Usually meaning lost time and, more importantly, money. It would be nice if there was a way to have InDesign or another program scan and fix corrupt files (Adobe FirstAid). Dumping this corrupt file into this program would scan the file, find the cause of the error, and isolate it--almost like a virus scanner. Even if this means a page is lost or margins are messed up. It would be nice to at least get some work saved. For example, I throw in a file that keeps causing InDesign to crash. It scans the file. It finds that their is some markup code in a text box on page 23 out of 122 that is throwing an error. This text box is removed, maybe even a red box is put in its place so I know what has been taken out.

4. indesign crashes very regularly

   Indesign crashes very often these days giving this message [/Development/siriusr11/external/dva/adobe/dvaui/ui/src/OS_UI.cpp-4645], but not autosaving. It seems to happen at different times, can't pinpoint why it does

   We have released an update for InDesign CC2019 (v 14.0.2) which contains some stability fixes. If you are not already on 14.0.2, then we recommend you to update to latest version.

   If you still face a crash issue even after updating, please submit the crash report to us.

5. Text rendered bold when using transparencies

   When using transparent boxes or png images, InDesign will randomly render some text bold. This occurs both on screen and when printing. The only way to avoid it is by not using transparencies, which is annoying. People have been complaining about this since 2011! Get your sh*t together adobe. Come on.

6. harfbuzz

   Compile Harfbuzz with Graphite support enabled.

   InDesign 2020 uses Harfbuzz for complex script rendering. Harfbuzz has the capability to use Graphite instructions for rendering complex scripts, but Adobe has compiled Harfbuzz without Graphite support.

   Graphite is needed for rendering some character combinations used in languages which are not supported by other font technologies.

7. Saving document presets always changes back to pica units

   When creating and saving new document presets, despite choosing a different unit such as inches or points, after hitting the save button, the document preset is only saved in picas unit measurement

8. Cells formatted as Number/Currency etc. in Excel without decimal places or as Date not imported correctly into InDesign.

   InDesign CC : 2020 / 15.0.0.155
   MacOS : 10.13.6
   MS Excel : 16.30 for Mac

   We were able since ever (last version ID CC 2019) to import Excel data-cells by InDesign with the placing functionality. With the actual version of InDesign CC 2020 numbers without any decimal places (e.g. 153) are not imported from Excel files and are displayed in InDesign with a "0" - (e.g. 153 imports to InDesign as 0). If the numbers in the Excel files have at least 1 decimal place numbers are imported correctly (e.g. 153.6 imports to InDesign as 153.6). Please fix this InDesign CC 2020 as soon as possible. An please in InDesgin CC 2019 Excel-Numbers with a sign for thousands place (e.g. 2'153) imported with a non correct sign (e.g. 2'153 imports to InDesgin CC 2019 as 2Õ153). Please verify this also.

   Fix for this issue is now available in the latest update of InDesign 2020 – that is, InDesign 15.0.1

   In the Creative Cloud Desktop application, click on the Updates section on the left. You should be able to see the Update available for InDesign. Please update your InDesign application to this version to try out the fix.

9. Import PDF Comments - New Bugs identified

   We're facing below issues in the new feature, called 'Import PDF Comments':

10. Unable to package files - program freezes creating IDML

    Unable to package documents since 14.0.2 x64 update. Freezes on create IDML. When you try to cancel app hangs. Have to crash service to get the app to close.

11. PDF Hyphenation Bug when line has cross-reference, hyphenated word, and option is to create Tagged PDF

    When exporting an InDesign document to PDF, the hyphenated word is displayed incorrectly in the output PDF.

    It only happens with a line that has cross-reference object, hyphenated word, and option is to create Tagged PDF.

    InDesign 2019 (14.0.1) (MAC/PC) . Also tried it with previous versions and it has the same issue.

12. screen redraw errors: content disappears while editing

    While editing content (most usually, editing type), all the type disappears from the screen, so you can't see what's being edited. Scrolling up or down until the affected area is off screen, then scrolling back down fixes the problem, but it's a huge time suck to have to deal with this and all the other bugs.

13. Align toolbar: "Use Spacing" is greyed out

    Version: Adobe InDesign cc 2019 (v 14.0)

    Steps to reproduce:
    I'm not sure how to reproduce it. After some minutes of working, the checkbox for "Use Spacing" in toolbar Align/Distribute Spacing is greyed out and inactive. Not sure when it happens or what makes it happen.
    But: in the Properties toolbar, "Use Spacing" is not greyed out and it is working normal, as seen in the attached picture. If I click the checkbox in the Properties toolbar, then the checkbox in the Align toolbar is activated and not greyed out anymore.

    Expected result:
    "Use Spacing" in Align toolbar should not be greyed out when two or more objects are selected.

    Acutal Result:
    "Use Spacing" in Align toolbar is greyed out.

    If you are unable to see the update notification yet, open the menu (three dots) from the top-right of Creative Cloud desktop application and click on ‘Check For App Updates’.
    Once the update button is shown against InDesign, click on the button to update to Id 14.0.2.

14. No Panels at Start

    Many times CC apps start with no panels at all or panels which won't expand when clicked.

    Also happens in Photoshop, Illustrator in my experience and on different machines (Mac Pro at home, different iMacs at the office).

    Has been going on for many iterations of CC apps.

15. Cursor size in working area is huge InDesign CC 2018 Win

    The ID cursor (black) when over the workspace is huge. It is normal size when hovering over the tool bars (white), but when you move over the workspace it is supersized. This occurs when working on an external monitor, but is scaled appropriately on HD Laptop Screen.

17. Auto-size text boxes with rounded corners expands randomly.

    Version 2018, 13.0

    Set a text box to auto size height and width (with no line breaks)
    Make the corners rounded
    As you can see in the attached jpgs of before and after, sometimes the box expands in width and sometimes in height, but randomly, not wrapping around the text correctly.

    InDesign 2024 is lagging a lot—there's a delay in response when clicking onto a text or content box to edit the content. Even moving from page to page (at typical or fast display) there's a lag.

19. # in URLs of Hyperlinks in Hyperlinks panel is substituted with %23 when opened in browser from panel

    Hi together,
    when working with hyperlinks with URL destination an URL like:

    https://wiki.selfhtml.org/wiki/HTML/Elemente/a#Siehe_auch

    will not be transferred to the browser as is when the menu command "Go to Destination" is used or if the "green" bullet in the panel is clicked that indicates a correct and connectable hyperlink destination.

    Instead character # will be substituted with %23 like that:

    https://wiki.selfhtml.org/wiki/HTML/Elemente/a%23Siehe_auch

    The implication could be two-fold:
    [1] The browser could show an 404 error
    [2] The browser could not navigate to the named anchor and the view of the page is showing the top part of the page.

    The URL above will show error [2].
    This URL will show a 404 error:

    Hyperlinks panel showing the command "Go to Destination" in my German InDesign 2023:

    Result is this 404 error in the browser:

    Test document where the hyperlink is attached to a rectangle:
    URLWith#ShowsAs%23Example-2CC-2023.indd

    FWIW: Due to restrictions of the UserVoice forum software the InDesign document could not be attached to this bug report. Instead I zipped it and tried to attach the zip file. Also this failed. So I added a *.txt to the file name:

    URLWith#ShowsAs%23Example-2CC-2023.indd.zip.txt

    Hi together,
    when working with hyperlinks with URL destination an URL like:

    https://wiki.selfhtml.org/wiki/HTML/Elemente/a#Siehe_auch

    will not be transferred to the browser as is when the menu command "Go to Destination" is used or if the "green" bullet in the panel is clicked that indicates a correct and connectable hyperlink destination.

    Instead character # will be substituted with %23 like that:

    https://wiki.selfhtml.org/wiki/HTML/Elemente/a%23Siehe_auch

    The implication could be two-fold:
    [1] The browser could show an 404 error
    [2] The browser could not navigate to the named anchor and the view of the page is showing the top part of the page.

20. Font not working after InDesign 17.2 upgrade

    The font "AlteHaasGroteskBold" worked with the previous version of InDesign. It is open in FontExplorer X Pro (7.3.0) and works in Illustrator and Photoshop (current versions).
