1. Icon Panels do not expand correctly when Application Frame is OFF.

   Recurring issue from one InDesign upgrade to the next! Found 2- and 6-year old reports of the same bug. In-between updates fix it but reoccurs with every new upgrade...

   ISSUE
   When Application Frame is disabled, panels that are on the right side of the screen don't expand towards the left as they normally would but to the right.
   The bigger the UI scaling size, the more to the right of the screen the panel expansion moves, soon disappearing altogether. Only smallest sizing allows to display properly.

2. Modifications on PDF export profile are incoherent

   Windows 11, Indesign 20.1
   Steps to reproduce:
   1. With at least one PDF export profile present, export an INDD to PDF
   2. In the export dialog, change something on the settings, like checkmarking "Create Acrobat layers", given it's not marked already. The export profile would then become marked as "(modified)".
   3. Select the unmodified profile again, to remove the previously set checkmark.
   4. Now change the settings "Pages" from "All" to "Range". The export profile is now NOT marked as modified.

   Conclusion: if you want to reset the export from Range to All, you cannot do that by simply selecting any profile, you have to do it manually. Thats illogical.

   Windows 11, Indesign 20.1

3. indesign crashed

   I am currently using Zoho's virtual space.
   For the past two weeks, I have been experiencing a problem where Adobe InDesign crashes whenever I attempt to use the "Save As" function. This issue did not occur previously, but it has become a persistent problem. I kindly request assistance in resolving this matter.

4. [ID-4256362]Cannot drag and drop InDesign files into InDesign

   With no open files in InDesign, I cannot drag and drop an InDesign file from Explorer into InDesign. Double-clicking an InDesign file does work. Selecting multiple InDesign files in Explorer and then pressing the Enter key does work whether InDesign is running or not.

5. Bug when editing link text when changes are tracked

   There it a bug which occurs when the following takes place.

   1. Track changes is activated for a text frame in InDesign.
   2. A user adds text that will include a hyperlink.

   (See Image1.)

   1. A second user creates the hyperlink in the text.
   2. This user also then makes a change to the text that contains the hyperlink.

   (See Image2)

   1. If the ICML file is exported for editing in InCopy and then placed again into the document the formatting will change in the places where the original content was added - which follow the change in the text which contains the hyperlink. Depending on how this occurs text content can also be duplicated following the original text.

   Image3 shows that the default hyperlink styling (blue with underlining) now extends to the end of the original text. The hyperlink itself also extends that far.

   This will happen in any place where a change occurs in text containing a hyperlink that was originally added by another user. It is not likely to occur very often (due to the nature of the steps that need to occur in a specific order) however the results could very big problems if they are not caught.

   There it a bug which occurs when the following takes place.

7. GPU preview issue

   GPU preview sometime doesn't preview correctly, need to switch to CPU preview for correct preview.

   and sometime display image like a burst artifact. need to switch to CPU preview forth and back for several times to get everything back to normal.

9. Index type range bugs

   I specifically have my problems with "To Next Use Of Style" and "For Next # Of Paragraphs"

   1. To Next Use Of Style
      The adobe guide specifically says that the range is until the NEXT use of the specific para style but if the paragraph that contains the index marker is the same as the intended end of range, it only recognizes the first page. It counts the current para style aswell.
      So if I want to i.e. make an index marker on a bridgehead with a range until the next bridgehead, I have to put the marker to the beginning of the following paragraph instead of on the bridgehead as the author intended.

   2. For Next # Of Paragraphs
      Here the range is always only to the beginning of the paragraphs, not till the end. So if I have an index marker on a paragraph and the range should end at the end of the first paragraph which exceeds to the following page, I have to type "2" instead of "1" since the latter only counts the beginning of the paragraph (or in this case the point of the index marker) and thus only the first page is shown in the index output.
      But Using the n+1 method is buggy if there are later corrections and the sentence flow shifts in a way that this paragraph that was previously splitted to two pages now is placed on one and ends on the bottom of the page, whereas the next paragraph begins on the following page. In this case the previously page rage will still be set until the beginning of the second paragraph and thus include the second page wrongfully.

   TL;DR
   Please make the page-range type function "For Next # Of Paragraphs" disregard the style of the paragraph with the index maker.
   Please edit the function of "For Next # Of Paragraphs" in a way that the range ends at the end of the paragraph, not the beginning.

10. Table controls are missing from Properties pane, and selection control lacks ToolTip

    I had mysterious, unselectable text in my document with multiple columns. It turned out to be a table, but this was not indicated anywhere in the UI. Not in the layer list or the Properties pane when the text frame was selected. Table properties are missing from the Properties pane even when you have the text-insertion point sitting in a table cell.

    A major contributor to the problem is that the tiny table-selection icon that appears on the left side of a table has no ToolTip, and does nothing when clicked or dragged. Only by guessing that you have to double-click it will you discover that this invokes row/column selection mode. And only then do table-related controls appear in the Properties pane.

    I would expect a ToolTip on the on-screen control, and I would expect table properties to appear in the Properties pane when you have the insertion point in the table.

    InDesign 20.2 on Windows 11.

11. [ID-4253057]Autonumbering in Hide Spreads is not working for Text Variables -> Insert Variable -> Last Page Number

    Text variable "Last page number" does not update with Hide Spread.

    With the newest update hiding spreads works automatically updates the pagination. This does not however change the "Last page number" variable. I often use this for screen presentations to display page X/X.

    This seems like a simple oversight in the update, but would be nice to have fixed.

12. Latency issue on Mac since version 20.0.1

    Every action, every time I switch back to InDesign after using another application, every event is preceded by a 1-2 second delay. When spending the whole day working on InDesign, this becomes unbearable. This is the first time I've experienced this, and it has been happening since the new version 20.

    See video. The Mac "spinning wheel" appears multiple times in one minute. Imagine this over several hours or days.

    Adobe, cold you please fix it asap?

13. PNG export affected by "Display Performance" Settings

    Affected InDesign versions:

    I could reproduce it with InDesign 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 and Prerelease 2025. From what I've found here so far, however, the problem has existed since at least 2020.

    Reproduce:

    • "Display Performance" set to "Typical"
    • place a PNG or PSD with semi-transparent areas in InDesign (image for testing: semitransparent.png)
    • export to PNG

    This also happens if the PNG export is triggered before the document has been fully rendered and the "Display Performance" settings are set to ‘High Quality’. This therefore also affects automated processes, e.g. on InDesign Server.

    Expected result:

    • high quality output with correctly rendered transparencies (see png-export-expected.png)

    ---

    Actual result:

    • Stripes in the semi-transparent areas (see png-export.png)

    ---

    Even worse:

    • set the "Display Performance" to "Fast"
    • only a gray box is in the exported PNG instead of the actual image (see png-export-fast.png)

    Affected InDesign versions:

14. Converting a text URL to a hyperlink removes the instances of the text variables!!!

    1. All InDesign versions
    2. Create a URL that includes Text Variable instance
    3. URL looks and prints correctly,
    4. but hyperlink is wrong: there are no text variables values in it.

    It is obvious that URLs are convenient to generate from text variables. Especially if there are thousands of them!
    This would be a phenomenal solution not only to our problem, but...

    Instead of substituting the values ​​of text variable instances, nothing is replaced (empty strings instead of text variable instances), and the hyperlink (which looks and prints correctly in the text) is generated as invalid!
    We need to create and maintain a script to fix incorrectly generated hyperlinks, but this drawback could be solved at the highest level - just add text variable processing to the hyperlink converter!

15. Preview on GPU disappears; restarting only resolution

    Problem: Workspace turns into a blank outline in Preview on GPU.

    Occurrence: When switching between windows or after returning to an open InDesign file after having a pause.

    Solutions: Restarting InDesign.

    Toggling between CPU and GPU does not work. Selecting and de-selecting GPU in preferences does not work.

17. Output to PDF removes bleed

    Summary: Output to PDF removed bleed

    Details:

    I laid out a book in Indesign using the 'Book' feature, with several similar sections or documents linked as a 'Book'. Each document based on the same original so all had same settings.

    I needed to output to PDF for the printer, Mixam UK. I downloaded the printer's settings, which include: output to single pages, bleed with no marks, with 'use document bleed' checked.

    I had set up the documents in Indesign in spreads with 3mm bleed as usual from the start. When looking at the output settings BEFORE output, I could see it still said 'use document settings' and showed 3mm bleed all round. See attached screenshot.

    I then output the book (Export Book to PDF) to single page PDF and uploaded to printer's website.

    I did not notice the document in fact had ZERO BLEED. The printer alerted me. I went back and output again. This time I looked more carefully and saw that 'use document bleed' was still ticked (checked), but it had reset to 0mm. I think it does it at the point of exporting the whole 'Book'.

    Workaround: I unticked 'use document bleed' and changed the bleed manually in that box to 3mm. Problem solved. 

    I see that a similar issue has been noted by Adobe but one suggested workaround is to export as single pages, link below. But I was using single pages so that is NOT the solution. Something is going wrong with 'use document settings', perhaps because it was a Book and not a single doc. (I did check each Indesign document is set up with 3mm bleed - yes they are.)

    I'm working on a Mac running OS 12.6 and Adobe Indesign 2023 on subscription.

    Anyway hope you can work on this and provide a fix or announcement so that other people don't send off their work without bleed.

    Of course the fact the printer demands a bleed without marks is making it harder for me as customer to check I've got bleed in my PDF! That bit is not your problem!

    Side note: this window for reporting bugs is too small! It's hard to see what I've already said or edit it.

18. "GREP Load Find with selected text" is incomplete on macOS

    version: any OS: any macOS
    Edit menu > Keyboard Shortcuts > Text and Tables > “GREP Load Find with selected text” also “GREP Load Find and Find Next instance”

    If the selected text contains meta characters that are escaped with a backslash, such as "End of Paragraph" (\r) or tab characters (\t), they are all captured as ¥r and ¥t.
    I’m forced to retype the ¥ into a \ before starting the search.
    On Windows, it works without retyping.

    “Forced line break" (\n) is not a problem as a function, but the display is corrupted, which makes me uneasy.

    It is a pity because it is a very useful function.

    選択テキストに「段落の終わり」（\r）やタブ文字（\t）など、バックスラッシュでエスケープするメタ文字がある場合、すべて¥r, ¥tとして取り込まれる。
    検索を開始する前に¥をバックスラッシュ\ に入力し直す必要に駆られている。
    Windowsでは再入力を必要とせず動作した。

    「強制改行」（\n）は機能としては問題ないが、表示が崩れており不安である。

    とても便利な機能なだけに残念でならない。

    version: any OS: any macOS
    Edit menu > Keyboard Shortcuts > Text and Tables > “GREP Load Find with selected text” also “GREP Load Find and Find Next instance”

    If the selected text contains meta characters that are escaped with a backslash, such as "End of Paragraph" (\r) or tab characters (\t), they are all captured as ¥r and ¥t.
    I’m forced to retype the ¥ into a \ before starting the search.
    On Windows, it works without retyping.

    “Forced line break" (\n) is not a problem as a function, but the display is corrupted, which makes me uneasy.

19. Literal ampersand (&) doesn't show in font's OpenType stylistic set menu

    Adobe InDesign version: 20.1

    Expected Results:
    1. Use a font in InDesign that contains an OpenType stylistic set option with a name containing an ampersand (&).
    2. Look for that stylistic set in Character > OpenType > Stylistic Sets.
    3. The ampersand should be visible in the name of the stylistic set.

    Actual Results:
    The ampersand does not appear in the stylistic set name.

20. Portuguese from Portugal

    The Portuguese language originated in Portugal.
    That being said, the Portuguese Dictionary from Portugal implemented in InDesign should align with the native language. In fact, there are numerous supposed errors detected by Dynamic Spelling.
    InDesign insists on not accepting words like "Económico" or "prémios," as it considers them to be mistakes, given that in Brazilian Portuguese, which is a variant of the Portuguese language, they are not written this way. It's about time they fix this issue.
