Copy & paste within a numbered list can cause wrong numbering
If you create a numbered list which runs over 2 or more columns and copy some text within the list from one paragraph to another the numbering changes. In my example you have 2 times 1 in the list.
To make it even more crazy this only happens when you use the Adobe Single-line composer. If you work with the Adobe ParagraphComposer there's no problem at all.
If you change the text frame from 2 columns to 1 column and back the error disappears as well.

InDesign 2024 - Home and New Docs Problem
Hi!
I have installed on windows the Adobe InDesign 2024 version. For several days, i've been having trouble opening the program because it doesn't show me the 'home' and doesn't allow me to create new documents, even though i can open documents that are already saved on my PC.What can I do?

Tables with overset text make Indesign crash. When copying such a table, and then paste it on another page or in another doc, Indesign will crash.

Shared destination URLs link back to old INDD files and stop working in PDF

I'm not sure if this is a bug or intentional by design but it has caused us no end of problems
I create 1 working template - often this template is a recycled and updated file from the previous year. When approved by the client I then "Save as" with different names for different regions.
Unfortunately when I do this, the "Shared hyperlink destinations" link back to the original InDesign document. When working with multiple designers across multiple machines, the links cannot be edited by anyone who does not have the original file so every hyperlink…1 vote -
Corner Options remove the Inset Spacing on a Text Box
When you create a text box with an inset spacing, if you apply a corner option, the insert spacing is removed.
To fix it, all you got to do is go to the Text Frame Options and add the inset spacing again, but it would be great if it didn't get removed in the first place.

InDesign HTML export writes user CSS file in wrong order, ahead of base CSS
Since at least v18, InDesign export to HTML writes any user-designated CSS files ahead of the base, idGenerated CSS file. This means user statements are wholly or partially overwritten by the base statements.
This has been discussed and noted in the forum since at least v18, and I thought a bug notice had been entered here but I cannot locate it.

Alpha channel issue in print pdf
Hi All,
My single-color PDF document that I uploaded to the Scout printer has an error stating that it uses the Alpha channel and is treated as a CMYK plate. My print page did not have an alpha channel.
Could someone please advise me on how to determine whether the Alpha channel is there and how to prevent this sort of printer issue? My print PDF document is attached here.Regards,

Punctuation at the end of Hebrew text is broken if there is a SHIFT+ENTER in the middle
Punctuation character at the end of Hebrew text is "shift" to the right if a SHIFT+ENTER (line break within the same paragraph) was typed somewhere in the paragraph.
A simple example is shown in the attached image.
Also, in the attached Image I am using the "Adobe Hebrew" font with "Hebrew" set as Language (as can be seen in the attached images).

Glitching and Lagging
Mac OS Sonoma 14.2.1 (as well as previous release)
InDesign 19.01 (as well as previous releases)
Apple M1 MaxInDesign (and Illustrator) have become infuriating to use. All graphics and text are constantly glitching when scrolling or zooming. When selecting an element for some reason there is a lag where it things that I am clicking and dragging the element cause it to move. Sometimes it moves a pixel or get thrown across the page.
I have tried the following
In Preferences,
Disabled Animated Zoom to no effect.
Disabled GPU Performance to no effect.

Computer: Mac Sonoma 14.4 Indesign: 14.4 AMFID and TRUSTD
Yesterday I updated both Mac and Indesign. Today I regret.
When autoflowing a very large file (which yesterday would have taken around 10 minutes) - now it runs for hours.Strangely I have noticed that while the delay is happening in Indesign - amfid begins to take 64% of my CPU on the Activity monitor. trustd runs around 24-27%. Indesign is running 9-10%. Once I shut down Indesign or the task finally completes, but amfid and trustd disappear from the activity monitor. Could this be the source of the delay. This is truly keeping me from my work.

PDF/vector rasterize fail
Pdf rasterization has been bad for many years, a long time ago I reported this problem with complex graphics when thin lines appear in the image when saved to jpg. Previously, at least a pdf from indesign could be opened in photoshop, which had a different rasterization, but it has been the same for a long time, and when rasterizing SOME pdfs, it always creates thin lines in different places depending on the resolution...

InDesign crashes when I try to change styles with the preview box selected.
I am running InDesign 19.0.1 x 64 on a Windows 10 machine
When I try to edit a paragraph style that includes bullet points, and with the Preview box checked, my computer crashes. As you can see in the screen capture video, it is an intermittent issue, but InDesign crashes the majority of times I am trying to edit the bullet paragraph styles. It also happens when I try to change the Anchored Object Options in my Object Styles panel.

When creating hyperlinks, a hyperlink is automatically created via a text object. The script ran until InDesign 2023.
The text objects are returned by a search.app.activeDocument.findGrep();
The hyperlink was created with the steps

hyperlinks.addThe first hyperlink is created as expected. In InDesign 2024, error 79111 "The selected object is already being used by another hyperlink" is thrown after the first hyperlink created (hyperlinkTextSources.add).

Margins not honored when duplicating pages
When duplicating a page in a document with different Inside/Outside margins, the content of consecutive pages moves out of the margins.
Create/Insert New Page works as expected though.

Data merge panel blank
Data Merge WAS failing to display data field placeholders in either existing documents or new ones. I'm getting a completely Data Merge blank panel when importing a new source file, and when opening an existing document with a linked file, I was only seeing a preview of one of the records.
This persisted through a number of workspace configurations (most including a second monitor) until I broke the Data Merge panel off from the others, and cycled through the panel size presets (the up/down chevrons to the left of the panel title) - only once returned to 'standard' size did…6 votes -
InDesign won't quit
Since the update to v18.5, InDesign won't quit after working on a document. If I simply just open the program and won't open or create any document, it closes perfectly. But once a document is created or opened, the program itself won't quit afterwards and just sits/hangs there requiring force quit.
Resetting the preferences and dumping the caches didn't help either. Running Win 11 Pro x64. Nothing else is changed except ID got updated yesterday to v18.5.
I don't want to uninstall and reinstall because it's not a 'major' issue - just posting here so it's known and hopefully they…

OPTION TO: turn off share for review????
turn off share for review???? I HATE IT DON'T USE OR NEED IT. IT INTERFERES with constant popup window (lags, freezes, stalls, empty frame takes up space & time) so intrusive. I should be able to TURN OFF!!! IF I EVER NEED IT, toggle back on.
