1. Pasteboard size difference between CC 2017 and 2018 causes page view jump

   This occurs when I begin to work on a document that was made in a previous version of InDesign, which by default had smaller top and bottom pasteboard margins. The first actual action I perform on a spread — not just clicking; something like moving an object, editing text and deselecting the text box, or creating a new object — causes the pasteboard to increase in size vertically to what I presume is the new default, which also causes the page view itself to jump down. This only happens on the active spread. This also produces a graphical error if I do this first action with the pasteboard hidden.

   It does seem that changing the pasteboard margins in preferences sidesteps the issue by changing the sizes of all of the pasteboards at once. It took me several days to figure out what was happening/decide that I wasn't just going crazy and find that, though, and I'll have to remember to do this with every CC 2017 document I open to work on, which isn't ideal.

2. Paragraph styles alignment won't set

   I am unable to change the paragraph alignment in existing paragraph styles. it stays on "left" no matter what i select. there are no associated styles it just won't let me change it.

6. Publish Online Incorrect German translation

   Publish Online.
   As reported in the forums:
   In the "readerView" is a translation error in the "language-dropdown-content"
   it should read "Deutsch" (without the "e" at the end)!!
   "Deutsche" would be reffering to "several German people" not the German language. That is ALWAYS "Deutsch" only.
   Looks weird for a "Deutsche" :-) Would be like reading "Englishes" as a language option...

8. InDesign CS 6 - Crashing

   hi all,

9. Crash and shifting of text markups

   Exporting to IDML, to rtf or select all + paste lead to a system crash in InDesign CC 2017 (18.1.2). The export to pdf was possible. Using exclusion techniques, the typesetter was able to locate a bad paragraph in the middle of the document that crashes when selecting + pasting. She deleted this paragraph in text mode and re-inserted it. Now idml and rtf export works. But starting from this paragraph, all text markups in italic are now shifted (after the idml cleanup) by about 195 characters to the front. This error occurred shortly before printing and no one noticed. So we printed the edition in this way.

   Can you explain this error and how can we repair the file without typesetting again?

10. Graphics shift when using Publish Online

    When using Publish Online, graphic elements (mostly color blocks) move in the published version. Oddly enough, when you click to view thumbnails, the thumbnails look correct. (Example: navy color block on right page should align with color block on left page).

13. InDesign CC 2018 ME text frame problem

    InDesign CC ME 2018

    I work with international magazine. Usually I work with English text but once i a while I have to do some Arabic content. I installed Indesign CC 2018 ME on my machine and it works perfectly well except. When I create a new document in InDesign CC ME which is normal meaning reads from left to right and try to place a doc document into it text frame appears to be right to left and this issue is totally inconvenient.

14. Beachball on start, takes 2 force quits before fully starting

    When I start InDesign 13.1 on macOS 10.13.4 it take 3 attempt. I have to force quit the first two attempts because it almost always beachballs. Then on the third attempt it finally works. This behavior is pretty consistent. Sometime I completely restart the computer. Other times it take longer to start.

    We have fixed a number of crashes with InDesign’s latest Nov’18 update.
    Please download the latest InDesign version (InDesign CC 14.0.1) for the fix.

15. Assigned Shift+Delete to Edit→Cut; it does not work

    It's quite annoying that Adobe products doesn't support the Ctrl+Insert, Shift+Delete and Shift+Insert (Copy, Cut and Paste) operations by default. All other software on Windows does support so everybody is used with this.

    So I assigned the above shortcuts via Edit→Keyboard Shortcuts...
    The Ctrl+Insert and Shift+Insert works, but the Shift+Delete (Cut) doesn't. It seems to me a bug, Shift+Delete being hard-coded and it's taking precedence over the assigned key combination.

16. Indesign crashing on startup 2017 / 2018 (cloud) - Please Help!!

    InDesign crashes the computer on startup. Not just the program, but restarts the PC. Sometimes it crashes with blue screen sometimes with plain and simple restart without any messages. Program does not even open.

    I'm running Intel I7 8720X, Nvidia 1080 TI, 11 GB, 32 GB ram DDR4, 512 SSD + 3 TB Storage, Windows 10 Home - all updates.

    I'm not sure what is going on. I tried to reinstall it, several times, after I uninstall removing preferences / settings, formatted the drives to kill any existing settings, still same issues. Photoshop, Illustrator and Adobe Acrobat work fine, not indesign.

    I have no issues with any other software on this PC, runs really well.

17. Indesign will not tag endnotes to XML

    When Adding untagged items to the Structure, Indesign promptly states that Endnotes are not supported for XML tagging. I use XML tagging process for creating reliable Accessible WCAG compliant PDFs, and other export requirements. Please make Endnotes USEFUL - 1. keep in same story (not an additional frame) and make tagging process available.
    OR... a way to convert endnotes to linked cross references - even in tables!
    Tables if Indesign worst thought when it comes to footnotes and endnotes.

18. Spell checker in InDesign CC2018 (13.0) has lost its mind

    InDesign spell check is randomly not recognising everyday words and when I acknowledge it by clicking Ignore All or Skip, it stops again on the very next word to report an Uncapitalised Sentence. This is happening whether I have the Dictionary set to Proximity or Hunspell.

    I cannot find a pattern other than that, but I have now experienced it on ten different InDesign documents. It is very annoying, but I am also left to wonder whether it is actually missing other words that might actually need correction?? PLEASE HELP.

19. Group in Old Layer -> Ungroup in New Layer = Error

    I like to layer different styles of content. I'll have a background layer for images, etc., that I want to not touch later so I can lock/unlock while I work with my content over the top of it. Sometimes, I accidentally am in the background layer and create content that needs to be moved to another layer. I would love for a feature like Illustrator that allows me to highlight an object or group of objects, click an opposing layer, and then right-click > arrange > move to selected layer.

    Also, there is a slight bug I've found, but it doesn't crash and I can work around it: When I have grouped objects, and I copy and paste them into a new layer, they appear to be in the new layer; however, if I ungroup them, they automatically de-group back into their original layer before I copied and pasted them. Does that make sense? That feature I mentioned above would fix this, but either way, this bug is kind of annoying because then I have to go back and copy and paste the ungrouped objects back into the new layer I wanted them in. Might be unclear, but I just ran into this issue today.

    There is an option in the Layers panel flyout menu called “Ungroup Remembers Layers”. This is ON by default. That’s why when you ungroup, the objects go back to the layers to which they belonged prior to the grouping. You can uncheck this option if you want to have the objects get ungrouped on the same layer as the group.
