Allowing the Review Function to have live text editable/collaborative
The company I work for focuses more on publishing where we are working between an art and development team and an editorial team.
Currently, we use InCopy to allow our editors to be more hands on with their major changes they need to text. But it creates a long wait time, packaging and uploading large files to our current servers, and room for error for the designer or editor to not be working from the most updated file. Grid guide for graphic frames
In much the same way that the crop tool in Photoshop has optional grid overlays (rule of thirds, golden spiral etc), Indesign could have the option to toggle these on/off for graphic frames.
This would be immensely useful for positioning images in graphic frames – for example when placing a headshot and wanting to align the subjects eye using the rule of thirds or golden ratio.
This would be far better than having to crop/resize images in Photoshop in advance, particularly because you can then adjust the size of the graphic frame in Indesign without having to redo…

color limitation in underline text
When I want to have a color in the background of a text (but not the whole block, only the text), I use character style, underline option with strength and negative offset. For the color I can only choose a few others are not available. It would be nice to be able to choose any color. Any example can be found in the attached file. There I would want to have the yellow color in the dark blue color of the logo.

Ignore effects
Just like you can "Ignore text wrap" it would be very helpful to be able to "Ignore effects" on objects and text frames.
Often you have a lot of shadows and other effects that you don't want certain objects to be affected by.
In the example here I have put a dark outer glow on the text frame that I want to affect the background picture – but not affect the logo or the bar code box.

Can you please add a Highlight Text feature?
Seems like this should have been included years ago. It would make it so much easier when reviewing/editing a document to highlight text which needs to be reviewed/confirmed, etc.

Add text wrapping feature to combo box for interactive pdf drop down boxes with statements/questions.
I am trying to create an interactive pdf interview guide for my company. We would like to have the possible questions they can ask in a drop down format to help ensure the same question isn't asked by multiple people. I need to be able to add more characters to the combo box, then I also need them to automatically text wrap so that the text isn't displayed as a tiny line of text that isn't readable. I think Excel allows you to create drop downs with sentences that will wrap text.

horizontal table flow in text boxes
Right now, if you have a table that has more rows than the text box can handle vertically, the table will auto-flow into a new/threaded text box, or another column within the text box. It would be really helpful if tables could the same thing horizontally.
For example, let's say you set up a table with 3 rows, first with images, a second with item numbers, and a third with descriptions. Each column for this set up is an inch wide, and you have 30 items that each need their own column, but you want it to fill an 8.5x11…

Add Layer Name to the options under Type/Text Variable/Insert Variable
We create a base version and save that as the file name, which we can add to our slug line as Inserted Text, then we have multiple versions which we have to manually add to the slug line before we release proofs to the client. Having the layer inserted into the slug line would be a great improvement to time/accuracy .

Underline options > color should be TEXT COLOR by default!!
I have to import Word files in InDesign many times and the text looks black but it's not. I try to select the whole paragraph and change it to black but the underlines remain RGB! So I have to select each one to change it to TEXT COLOR. Why can't it be text color by default...or be selected with the whole paragraph and be changed together with the text??

Rule above, Role below: Width columne except text
Please make it possible to create a line below (paragraph rules) that is as long as the column, but the text is not underlined.
This would make it easy to create form fields

No gap between QR-Code and surrounding object frame
... or else it is much more work to give the QR-Code an exact size or correct alignment with other objects.

Is there a way to make “long text variables” wrap automatically?
Sometimes I encounter very long chapter titles, and when using variable headers, they don't wrap automatically. Is there a good solution for this?Currently, all the text is crammed into a single line.

New way to select individual text characters by marquee or dragging a box etc.
Text selection via marquee like the lasso tool in Illustrator or photoshop. This would select individual characters in live (not outlined) text for formatting just the selected characters in interesting ways. This also helps to select a column if you are working in tabbed text rather than text in a table. Also, picture a large body of text where you could highlight say a circle for instance in the middle and make it a bolder font. There used to be a plug in for Quark that did this exact thing.

Search in a text selection won't show
It's really annoying that I select some text and I want to Find/Replace something in that selected text and I can't do that within the Find/Replace window. Is this a bug or is there another reason why I can't do this?

The possibility to add a shortcut to "None" under Text format
It would be so beneficial to be able to remove any text formatting via shortcut, when all the others text formats are accessible via shortcuts already.
Use these shortcuts all the time, but every time I need to remove a format, I have to avert from the usual workflow.

Managing Multiple Sets of Endnotes In a Document AND allowing Endnotes to refer to a separate INDD Document
Issue #1:
Here's my first dilemma: I am building a book with several hundred pages. This book will be printed (won't be an eBook/iBook). I'm keeping each chapter as its own document that I will then collect together as a larger Book at the end. The last chapter will be just for all the book's endnotes. In previous versions of InDesign, I would import the Word document, delete the endnotes out of the "Chapter x" document, and pop them back into the "Endnotes chapter" without affecting the superscripts referencing the endnotes throughout the text. Setting for location of new text-to-image generated images
Can there be a setting option for the default location of new text-to-image generated images - I would like to be able to set this to the folder containing the current document rather than the user/documents folder. Thanks!
