Filter & Labels in (Object/Character/Paragraph) Style Panels
As in Photoshop's and InDesign's Layer Panel it would be very helpfull to have the option for colored Labels/Flags.
Also, like in Photoshop, a filter/search option on top of the Style Panels would help organizing complex files (newspaper/magazine templates) and speeding up the process.1 vote -

Add a Shortcut for Effects (instead of Dropshadow)
For some reason, only the Drop Shadow effect has a keyboard shortcut. So if we frequently use an other effect, we can reacht the effects panel by choosing the keyboard shortcut for Drop Shadow. But then we have to first switch off the Drop Shadow effect.
Why not create a Shortcut to the effects panel, without activating Drop Shadow.[more: the shortcut currently adds a Drop Shadow AND opens the panel, which is inconvenient if you (for some reason ;-) want to use Drop Shadows all the time.]
Needs a UX rework.

Merge Features of Share for Review into Publish Online
Looking at all of the different feature request posted for "Share for Review" I feel it would almost be better to just merge the "Share for Review" features into the "Publish Online" since it already has many of the requested features like setting PDF quality, being able to select the number of pages, print as spreads, ect... The only thing it is missing is the ability to make it invite only and the commenting features. That way instead of two tools there is one. Maybe it has an option that when selected it adds the "Review Features" and if not…

Document Time Tracking
This idea has already been posted, but it's from 2018 so I would like to post it again:
Document Time Tracking would be a feature to see the dates / time spent on a document. It could be accessed in the documents info panel. This feature would be useful for client invoicing and project managing especially in advertising where time is money.

Have a modal window or panel where all alt text can be seen and edited at once
Can we have a way to open some sort of modal window that then allows us to see all alt text for images/graphics etc so that we can quickly edit all alt tags within a document in one place? It's time consuming having to select each image throughout the document and edit individually.
It would also be useful to have a preflight check for alt tags within InDesign.

Cross Reference / Hyperlink - EDITING FACILTY
Overview
I work on large catalogues all day (over 500 pages) and unfortunately the previous designers didnt have a naming convention for the hundreds of cross references. As a result its a MESS of meaningless names and broken links.Research.
I have looked over the internet to find a solution but there doesn't seem to be one (i found a script that looked promising but it didn't work).Request.

Simplify hyperlink process
I've been using Indesign for over a decade but still can't fully understand the hyperlinking process. For example, what is the difference between New hyperlink destination and New hyperlink? (I've read about the difference but still find it kludgy.) What couldn't the process be as simple as when defining a paragraph/character/object style sheet in ID? Why can't I add simple page links to text (sometimes it works, other times it doesn't). Why does the hyperlink panel only provide a URL shortcut and not a simple Go to page #? Bring Back the DPI!
Dear Adobe,
How could you get rid of the term DPI, especially in InDesign, and replace it with PPI?!!!! As a print designer for the last 15 years, it breaks my heart to see that the premiere software company for designers has abandoned a term that is part of the fundamental lexicon of graphic design. I am a print designer at a CA State University and it kills me that our graphic design students graduate with an BA in Art/Graphic Design without having set foot inside a print shop! Easier to find Span columns
I teach InDesign to beginners so we use the Properties panel a lot. I would like an easy way to find span columns directly in the Properties panel. Now you have to go to the Control panel and if it fits the screen you will find it at the right, otherwise in the Paragraph panelmenu. Such a great feature should be easier to access

Paragraph Styles & Character Styles sort by color/label
It would be great to be able to color-label a specific paragraph style from the paragraph styles panel. It helps visually when working with lots of paragraph styles. Also, this applies to character styles as well. Perhaps even the groups within the paragraph styles panel could be color-labeled. This feature is already in Photoshop and even Premiere Pro has a color-label feature so for all of us working in InDesign it is a critical feature.

Offer landscape long-edge bound view in pages panel
When designing calendars and long-edge bound landscape documents (such as flip charts), it would a tremendous help to have a setting that shows pages in two-page spreads on top of each other rather than beside each other.

Reinclude the cutter tool
The cutter tool has not been included as it was in old Pagemaker This tool is very useful. Without this tool, if you import an Autocad drawing, it is not possible to resize the content to the frame. I recommend to include this tool as it was in Pagemaker.

Send PDF comment status from InDesign back to originating PDF

Feature request: please give us the option to send the comment status from the ID PDF Comments panel back to the originating PDF. Our workflow continues to use that original PDF for comparison with the new PDF to cross-check that the alterations were made. Add a preference to have to toggle the checkbox default for "Name with Color Value"
Add a preference to the InDesign Preferences panel so that the checkbox default for Name with Color Value can be set. When creating a new swatch in a document, the default is for the checkbox to be on, but checking the box off changes the name to New Color Swatch. Fine if you're adding one color or many colors in a row, but if adding colors in new documents all the time, this gets annoying.

Need Better (and Less-Hidden) Accessibility Tagging Options
Please make it much easier to add accessible alt-text to InDesign documents. There should be an accessibility panel and pre-check to make it very easy for designers.

Bookmark highlited
Once I set a bookmark on a page, I would like the bookmark name to be highlighted in the bookmark panel when I'm on the page. Just like how when an image is selected, the name is highlighted in the links panel.

Add unicode categories to the list of available GREP choices
If you've ever had to write out a GREP code and weren't sure of the character, you can click on the @ to call up a list of known codes to choose from while in the find/change menu OR the GREP styles panel.
However, there is a selection that is missing that GREP in InDesign is known to handle, and that is unicode categories:
