Hello All,
Kindly provide more information about this ask. How do you plan to use the Action Panel in InDesign? Do you want it to work exactly like that in Photoshop? What are the most important actions/operations that you want to record?
Thanks
Abhinav Agarwal
Product Manger – InDesignAn error occurred while saving the comment Bastian Saris commentedBasicly stuff that you would usualy do with a script..
Examples:
1: Show Layer 2, Export PDF, Hide Layer 2 / Show Layer 3, Export PDF... and so on (some Projects are done in the same file on different Layers.)
2: Adding your most used GREPS to a new Paragraphstyle that's different from your previous so you can't just import it.
3. Write a Fix Action to force refresh textboxes since indesign sometimes fails to do so when doing heavy DatabasePublishing with InDesign. (Like enter every Textbox - add a space and remove it or change a Paragraph Style and then change it back both works to fix this issue)
4. Copy something - Paste it into a new document with the size of the Copied item and export as Transparent PNG.
5. Execute common Searches to fix mistakes - Like a Set of GREP Searches to fix double Spaces etc. (I know there is a script for that..)
6. Set your standard Settings for Checkboxes / Textboxes in Interactive PDF Files (Which still needs to be improved btw - we need more options in InDesign >:O)
7. Remove all unused Paragraphstyles / Colors etc. at the same time - add colors that don't have a swatch to the swatches etc. (an action to clean up the Document)
8. As an easy Way to paste sample Text that we want and not the one you provide to test Fonts.
9. Write an Action to switch objects positions after left and righthand pages have been switched due to to an inserted page.
10. Copy Missing Links Paths - create a new Document and paste the Links.
11. Create a Spread of Images with DPI / Size and Name (I still know there are scripts for some stuff of this... iam just trying to give ideas :))
12. Remove linked Textboxes and Paste the Text of the content in 2 independend boxes (yeah... you guess it - there is a script for this)
13. Create a list of all Images Below "X" dpi and the Page that they are on (usualy done in preflight - but a list to send to the customer would be nice.)The downside to scripts is they can't be modified my most People working with InDesign - Thats why actions in Photoshop are so popular. They can be mofidied easily and by everyone without knowing how to write any code or anything else.
I hope this are more than enough ideas :)

An error occurred while saving the comment Bastian Saris commentedCSV is very annoying indeed - you just need someone to open it with the wrong settings or save it with the wrong encoding and you're screwed – Something that wouldn't happen using .xls files.
e.g.: file seperated with tabs gets opened with different options and saved again => broken ; If that file had "komma" values like 3,5 ... it could also end up with more clumns than it had before if it gets handled wrong. and sadly enough this happens a lot.
Also extra tabs etc. in Data break it way too easily.
DataMerge is awesome and we use it to produce thousands of pages for Mailings, etc. – but it could be improved a lot.
Also i'td be nice to be able to export in .pdf chunks of 500 "Entries" per Page.
+ using facing pages with datamerge has been broken forever - if you need more than one page it only works with single pages... - i could go on and on and on... :·)I thought adobe products would improve with montly cloud fees :/ feels like it's only getting worse in some parts... kinda makes me sad.

Please update InDesign to the latest version, InDesign CC 2018 (13.0) for the fix of the issue.
An error occurred while saving the comment Bastian Saris commentedThe fix only helps in 80-90% of the cases - you still have to take care!
Bastian Saris supported this idea ·An error occurred while saving the comment Bastian Saris commentedoh yeah... the worst thing is - EVEN THE PDF EXPORTS WITHOUT TABLEHEADERS WHEN IT HAPPENS!! (Sorry - had to caps that - because... what the hell? almost printed a catalogue without Tableheaders!!)
An error occurred while saving the comment Bastian Saris commentedthe fix doesn't help 100% - it's still happening randomly... - please fix disapearing table headers!

Please update InDesign to the latest version, InDesign CC 2018 (13.0) for the fix of the issue.
An error occurred while saving the comment Bastian Saris commentedIt really is quite annoying but i'm not only having it in the find / replace window... also sometimes within EasyCatalog (InDesign Plug-in) or even other programms that are not related to Adobe.
Another case that's not listed here:
You can only write one letter and what ever letter you type after replaces the first letter.
You can spam all you want and will always stay at 1 letter.it's either good job adobe or good job apple :·) - who knows - we'll probably never find out... (just like the flickering bug :) )

This is working as it should – that is, duplicating the selected object.
Please update to the latest available version of InDesign (13.1) via Creative Cloud application. Before launching InDesign, delete the Application Preferences and Caches to ensure that any corrupt preferences are not causing this issue to happen.
Please let us know if you still experience this issue.
Thanks,
Adobe InDesign teamAn error occurred while saving the comment Bastian Saris commentedWhat do you need "Command" for? just old down (alt/option) while you drag and drop a frame - or hold it and press an arrowkey. Still working as it should.
Are you running the latest Version?
You could try to reset your InDesign Preferences by holding down CTL+OPT+CMD+Shift directly after launching it.http://www.tech4pub.com/2012/10/10/indesign-tip-reset-preferences-to-improve-performance/

Please update InDesign to the latest version, InDesign CC 2018 (13.0) for the resolution of the issue.
An error occurred while saving the comment Bastian Saris commentedI got the same problem but if you drop it on the NAME of the layer you want to move your objects to instead of the little square on the side it works every time.
I hope this helps :)

So true... stop forceing features on us - this is almost as horrible as the bubbles in CC 2018 showing what's new.
