Recent file panel
When Indesign first opens, the time stamp on the recent file is not correct. Some of the files are marked "in an hour" as when they were opened. Others are just marked as 4 hours ago.
The normal keyboard shortcut for hide does not work either on this screen.

beachballs
Beach balls, beach balls and beach balls and wait for the next move in indesign. We do not find a solution to this problem on the Internet. Can Adobe solve this?
5 votesHello All,
Thank you for your patience all this while.
We had launched our investigation into the matter to get to the root cause of the problem. As the part of our investigation, we had reached out to many of you personally over email.
We have concluded our investigation and have come up with few findings.1. For many of the users the issue got fixed after updating InDesign to a newer version.
2. For some, the issue got resolved after disabling a third-party application such as Suitecase fusion etc.
3. For few, the issue was intermittent and is no longer reproducible.
4. For majority of the users, the underlying cause of the performance issue was identified to be related to span columns, cross-references, third party plugin etc.We have created separated threads for these issues and we are now working towards resolving them.
However, over the time this thread has become too generic to serve its purpose effectively. As per your feedback and the outcome of our investigation we have created multiple threads to address each root cause separately and effectively.
If you are facing any slowness in InDesign or seeing any other performance issue, we request you vote for the relevant thread or create a new thread specifying the action/workflow which is slowing you down.
We seek your support in our continuous effort to improve InDesign.-InDesign Team

Are you on Japanese or MENA feature set of InDesign?
Japanese feature set – Japanese, Korean, Chinese (zh_CN and zh_TW)
MENA feature set – Arabic, Hebrew, French (Morocco)Currently we have the new “Create new document” dialog only for the Roman feature set.
We have however have working to get the new “Create new document” for Japanese and MENA feature sets as well with the upcoming CC 2018.0 release.

Bug in 21.4 and 21.4.1 not recognize the local TrueType font
After updating to InDesign 21.4 and 21.4.1, I encountered a major bug regarding font management, specifically with local TrueType fonts (like Futura TT).
ISSUE SYMPTOMS:
1. InDesign 21.4 does not recognize the local TrueType font anymore. The text appears highlighted in pink (substituted font) and the font name appears in square brackets like [Futura (TT)].
2. In the "Find/Replace Font" dialog, it says "Missing Fonts: 0", but the substitution remains active and the text is not rendered correctly.
3. Placing the correct .ttf files into the "Document Fonts" folder is completely ignored by version 21.4.TROUBLESHOOTING DONE:
- Cleared Adobe font caches and deleted .lst files (no effect).
- Reset InDesign preferences (no effect).PROOF OF THE BUG:
I performed a downgrade to InDesign 21.3. Opening the exact same file (.indd and .idml) with the exact same font files on the exact same Mac works perfectly. Version 21.3 recognizes the font instantly and the pink highlight disappears. This is clearly a regression/bug introduced in the 21.4 update regarding how InDesign handles local TrueType fonts when a system font conflict occurs. Please look into this.

[ID-4276616][Win]InDesign 21.x does not launch after Windows update due to corrupt VCRuntime
Indesign and some other products are failing to open, and it all related to the Microsoft C++ Redistributable, we just have to repair it and it starts working again.
Please work with Microsoft on the issue, something is happening that is making it very very hard to manage and work with InDesign because of the problem. I think it is happening with other Adobe products tooMicrosoft Support request number: 2602270030003886
Impact
Cumulative update appears to be removing the msvcp140.dll, vcruntime140.dll and vcruntime140_1.dll from the C:\Windows\System32 directory
Investigations currently by Microsoft
The investigation is currently ongoing with both the Microsoft VC++ team and the MSI development team. Current findings indicate multiple contributing factors behind the reported VC runtime corruption and installation issues.
Details requested by Microsoft to be collected by customer
Capture additional logging via the [Introduction to TroubleShootingScript toolset (TSS) - Windows Client | Microsoft ( https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-client/windows-tss/introduction-to-troubleshootingscript-toolset-tss), to generate a DND_SetupReport and share it with sharewithID@adobe.com
- Download and unzip toolset from: https://aka.ms/getTSS
- Launch an elevated Powershell prompt
- Run the following to ensure the script can be executed: Set-ExecutionPolicy -scope Process -ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned -Force
- Capture the installation data by running the tss script as follows: .\TSS.ps1 -Collectlog DND_SetupReport
- Zip the resulting C:\MS_DATA folder containing the files, and upload to the File Transfer site.

spinning wheel effing up programme v21.3
This just started randomly happening in the middle of a working day and now won't go away.
The spinning wheel appears when working on a file (normally placing images). I can close the job, but I cannot save (unless I "save as" again), cannot undo anything, and other menu items are greyed out as well. The programme won't close, and I have to force quit. Making it impossible to get through a job.
No background tasks are appearing.
I have had two remote sessions with Adobe agents, and both times they did something different that was supposed to "fix" the problem. Still having the problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1st fix (completely uninstalled everything Adobe related on my computer and reinstalled everything. All preferences and saved settings removed. DIDN'T WORK
2nd fix - updating graphics card that was out of date. Worked for the rest of the day and then started the following day again.
The jobs are not large, and the graphics are not complex.ADOBE FIX YOUR PROGRAMMES PROPERLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Losing the ability to use 'undo' [Command-Z] function.
I'm frequently losing the ability to use 'undo' [Command-Z] function. It's not all the time, but when it happens I can't undo anything. I have to quit InDesign and re open it to fix it. A few hours later it strikes again. There doesn't seem to be anything obvious triggering this. It's not crashing, it's just not functioning.

InDesign for macOS clearing Undo stack
- Adobe InDesign 2026 v21.2.0.30 for macOS
- Restart macOS, Open document in InDesign, and work with document normally.
- Undo should remain available, with a long history of undo steps while working on a document.
- During the course of working with the document at some point the history will clear and undo will become unavailable via keyboard shortcut, menu, or the panel.
This behavior is similar to the behavior described in ID-4274243 (https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs/suggestions/50813147--id-4274243-indesign-clearing-undo-stack-frequent?linkId=100000398096855) but unlike that issue, this is affecting users on macOS and is present in v21.2.0.30.
Two users on our staff are affected, both are running macOS 26.3 on a 16" MacBook Pro w/ M1 Pro, connected to an Asus ProArt 4k monitor via USB-C.

close
Freezes when I try to close the program. It will either not close at all, no matter how many force stops/close buttons I hit, or it will completely crash instead of closing safely.

Ongoing performance issues with large InDesign files
We’re running into frequent slowdowns and crashes when working with large InDesign documents (lots of pages, linked assets, complex styles, long text flows). It’s happening across multiple machines, not just one setup.
At Tech Formation, we support teams that depend on InDesign for real production work, and these issues are starting to affect delivery timelines and workflows.
It would be great to know whether this is a known issue and whether there’s any workaround or logging we can enable to help diagnose it.4 votes -
Show Import Options no longer stays checked
The "show import options" box will not stay checked in the "Place" window. Sometimes it does stay checked for one or two items but if you are importing more than that it will not stay checked.
Previously it stayed checked until the next time that inDesign was restarted. This may seem minor but is an extreme inconvenience and severely hindering workflow.
Version: 20.5
Steps to reproduce:
1. While working in document, Control+D (or "File>Place")
2. Sees "Show Import Options" is unchecked, check box
3. Place object
4. Control+D to place new object
5. Sees "Show Import Options" is unchecked AGAIN, re-check box
6. Place new object
7. Repeat ad nauseamExpected result: When "Show Import Options" is checked after first use, it will stay checked until the program is shut down and re-opened.
Actual result: Not that.

Highlighting or Changing Text
I’m experiencing an issue when highlighting text to delete it, changing the case, or switching fonts. The entire text, including the text above (on the same page), disappears. If I scroll up and then back down, I can make it reappear.

Find/Change saved queries lose numeric precision for indent values
Version:
Adobe InDesign 21.0.2
macOS 26.2
Issue also observed in much earlier versions (since CS5.5).
Steps to reproduce:
Create a document with paragraph units set to millimeters.
Create a paragraph with a left indent of exactly 5 mm.
Open Find/Change.
In Find Text, set Left Indent to 5 mm by typing it manually.
Run Find – the paragraph is found.
Save this Find/Change query.
Reload the saved query.
Run Find again.
Expected result:
The saved query should find the same paragraphs as when the value is entered manually.
Actual result:
After reloading the saved query, the paragraph is not found.
Additional details:
Via the scripting API the difference can be observed.
Manual entry via UI:
app.findTextPreferences.leftIndent = 14.1732283464567
After reloading saved query:
app.findTextPreferences.leftIndent = 14.17322834
The reduced numeric precision causes the query to fail.
This appears to be a precision loss when persisting Find/Change query settings.
The issue affects both UI and scripting workflows.
Using paragraph or character styles does not prevent this issue, as it is related to how numeric values are stored and restored in saved queries.Version:

[ID-4273263]With application frame "OFF", and multiple documents open InDesign 26 will resize them when switching between
Before upgrading, I used to be able to have multipe .indd docs open next to a spreadsheet on my screen, now they automatically change size when I switch between them, seemingly "remembering" the state they were last resized to.

Save As, Export and import file locations not behaving after Mac OS Tahoe update
Previously for many older versions of Indesign, Indesign will remember your document, PDF export and import locations.
Save As would always take you to where your current document is, PDF export would take you to your last PDF export location for that particular document, and Import would take you to your last import location.
Since upgrading to Mac OS Tahoe - all of this has gone haywire. Save As will sometimes take me to the last location of the PDF export, PDF export will sometimes take me to where the document is located. And import is the same. I am now saving documents in the wrong folder all the time, my PDFs are all mixed up, and now that I am aware of the problem I have to check and re-navigate everytime I Save As or Export or Import. It's slowing me down a huge amount and mistakes are still being made.
This needs to be addressed and returned to the previous workflow settings ASAP!!!!!
