  1. Boards are not displaying

All I can see is a grey screen surrounded by my tools and panels, as though I had hidden my pages. My cursor works as normal, identifying objects and texts, and can even select and move them, but nothing is shown. Occasionally a pdf file will be visible as part of a glitch. I have tried updating my Mac, Indesign, and restarting both.

    Version: Adobe InDesign 2022
Steps: opening any of my files
    Result: empty screen

  2. M4 GPU support

Using latest ID version (20.3.1) on Sequoia (15.4.1) on two different silicon Macs (Mac Mini M4, Macbook Pro M4 Pro) – neither recognizes the GPU in Indesign (greyed out in ID Setting menu). Monitors used include Macbooks internal display. Without GPU support performance is lacking but most importantly glitches are present (clicking boxes or zooming in and out does not work properly). As it is, Indesign is hardly usable. Other Adobe apps, Photoshop, Illustrator, work flawlessly and recognize the GPU.

  3. [ CC-2019 and 2020 ] The Convert-Endnotes-To-Footnotes Disaster SCOPE: SELECTION with CONTEXT MENU

    Hi together,
I'm using the context menu available for text selection to convert endnotes to footnotes by selecting text in the endnote text frame.

The result is not as expected. However it is better than using the dialog in menu Type for converting endnotes to footnotes with scope selection.

    What is the issue?
One endnote was converted but not removed.
Two footnote text are missing the first character.
One footnote text has a special character that should not be there.
    Style overrides were not transferred.
Footnote references get style overrides of the character they are attached to.

    All the important…

  4. export to pdf destination folder changes after creating "share for review" copy

After creating "share for review" copy, when I try to export to PDF, the "save to" destination folder changes to: C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Adobe\InDesign\Version 16.0-ME\en_US\Caches\Artifact
I guess it's becuase the "share for review" feature creates also a PDF copy of the book. but it's annoying to be forced to navigate again and again to my project's folder.
i'm using the latest version 16.3 (middle east locale). windows 10.

The fix of the issue is now available in the latest InDesign 2022(v17.0.0.96). We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.

If you are unable to see the update, go to the Creative Cloud application and click on the context menu on the top right and click on Check for App Updates.

  5. BUG character style small caps at end of line

text at the end of of line, the whole word in small caps: the last letter has small caps applied (and shows that in the character styleing palette), but does not show it (cf. img. 1 and 2), if I change the character style of this one letter to normal, now there are three letters which do not show sc (img. 3)

ID 20.0.1 Win 64 (reinstalled just now)

Workaround: empty space after the word. Still a severe bug: please do something Adobe!

  6. Handling error sizing with frame with contour (centered/outside).New bug!? Frames with contour: Are now shifted into each other after simult

    Scaling with undesirable erroneous result:
Affects frames whose outline is either:
    A. centered or
    B. aligned to the outside of the frame
(Frames where the contour is aligned on the inside of the frame are not affected by this error. There the scaling still works correctly as desired).

Recently, such frames (with a contour A/B) shift into each other undesirably after simultaneous resizing (see screenshot) and lose their original arrangement to each other!

I don't know with which version this new bug appeared,
but it is annoying and makes work slower again.

With Illustrator the error does not occur. There…

  7. Indesign 2019 not allowing access to styles menu on MacOS working remotely

When working at home, using only wifi with a booster on a national carrier and MacOS Mojave version 10.14.6, Indesign 2019 (14.0.3 and using Adobe Cloud) does not allow access to styles panel to edit or do anything with styles. When working in-office and using wifi there, I have no problem accessing the styles. At home, Indesign just does nothing forever and I have to hit ESC to go on to do other work, not getting the changes I need.

  8. version 19.5.0.84 quits on open, OS ventura 13.1

Indesign 2024 version 19.5.0.84, OS Ventura 13.1. It will open once, but after closing the app, and opening it the second time, it flashes the InDesign 'open screen' and then quits. The only workaround found is to uninstall and reinstall. I've been doing this for 6 mos, and it's getting old. We all pay for the software to work. I've been using Adobe products for decades and it seems it's worse now. What is the fix?

We have released InDesign 2025(v20.2.0.036) with many stability fixes. We recommend you upgrade to the latest version (if you’re not already on it) as it is more robust.

If you still face this issue even after updating, please submit the crash report to us. (Guidelines to submit crash are available at (https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/submit-crash-reports.html )

Also, please send the following information to santalwa@adobe.com :

    • Reproducible Steps – What were you doing when InDesign crashed?
    • Video recording of the crash
    • Is(Are) the issue related to a specific document(s)/asset(s)? If yes, could you provide us with the document(s)/asset(s)? Please package the entire document (To package the document, choose File → Package…)

  9. CRASH

I downloaded the last version of adobe indesign. I also updated my Mac software. when I open indesign it opens normally, I can see the home page and even try opening a new file, choosing sizes and stuff. Once I click on create a little bar appears (its a floating bar that's always there when a file is open) but the rest of the page looks like the menu still. Im 100 sure its only indesign because illustrator works well

  10. [Scripting] Document.findObject() incorrectly targets activeDocument

    System: Indesign 18.4, MacOS 13.4.1

    To reproduce:
    1. Open two documents, each with a filled frame 100% tint.
    2. Run attached script "findObject bug.js"
    3. Note the console output.
    4. Refer to this forum post for notes and commentary.

    Expected result:
doc.findObject() will return found items from both open documents.

    Actual result:
doc.findObject() returns only items from active document.

Note that using app.findObject() is not a viable workaround in some cases, such as the issue in this post.

  11. export review comments

I previously used Adobe DC to send design proofs for review. I LOVE THE NEW InDesign option. Of course, it has a few bugs, but overall I love the UI right in Indesign.

However, I would like to export comments for my records and documentation. In case there is a discrepancy in a final product, I prefer to keep an archive of comments related to a project. I do not see a simple way to do this.

  12. When converting files to a new version, some converted files have "copy" added to the name.

Opening a book from a previous version, with automatic doc conversion selected, causes some files to be overwritten when saved with "copy" added to the name. This nuance has caused a cascading calamity for our file management. If this function is intended, then it's execution is downright dumb. Nowhere was this pitfall mentioned when opening the files and saving them. Automatic Document conversion should be just that, automatic. Not 'automatically' mess up my naming conventions and filing system.

    Shame on you Adobe.

Thank you for reaching out to us.

Can you confirm the version of InDesign with which you are facing the issue?
It will be really helpful if you can share a screen recording of the workflow with us. It will give us unambiguous insight into the issue.

You can send the video and test files to abkaushi@adobe.com

  13. Convert All Fonts to Outlines

Add "Convert All Fonts to Outlines" checkbox in PDF Export dialog

Please add a simple checkbox in the PDF Export dialog to automatically convert all text to outlines. This feature would streamline print workflows by ensuring text doesn't shift or cause issues during printing. Both CorelDraw and even Adobe Acrobat already offer this functionality, so it makes sense to include it directly in InDesign's export process. This would eliminate the need for manual text conversion or post-processing PDFs in other applications.

  14. Indesign duplicates when I click and drag on anything, and it won't stop

Whenever I hold click and drag something Indesign creates a copy. It's almost like the Alt button is held down but it's not. I've removed the keyboard and it still does it. I've updated the software and it still happens. I've tried multiple restarts but no luck. I even uninstalled and ran an install but still no fix. Does anyone know why this is happening? It's not happening on any other Adobe software, just Indesign. I'm working on the latest version.

  15. Can't rename object in 2022

Same issue like here, but posting this again to get a response to this, because the response below that post is a big joke. The admin assumes that the bug report is too stupid to rename an object. But the gif clearly shows that 1. the admin hat the window arranged differently and 2. in the gif with the bug you see the rename window flickering.

I did the work adobe should do and tested it a bit.

The result is different depending on if the windows is floating, docked or expanded. Float and expand works, dock not.

  16. got stuck

Not an idea, just a problem I have.
Not sure this is the place to write for a solution
Working on Adobe InDesign 2022 17.4 MacOS
Steps to reproduce the issues: command+q
Expected result: that the software closes. Even if it doesn't save, and will undo everything it did and let me open the file again and work
Actual result: Shows a message (I've attached a screenshot)
    I waited a few hours
My computer is boiling and I have a deadline

  17. "Preview images" not updated or created in certain circumstances

Description: The previews are not updated in the following cases:

    • When the file is saved in IDML file format (you need to save in in INDD format before)
    • When the saving options are changed (under "Preferences > File handling") and the file is saved. You need to save the file with another name or make changes in order to have InDesign updating the previews.

Basically, from our tests, the preview images are only generated when the file is changed and saved in INDD format.

    1. Version of Adobe InDesign, InCopy or InDesign Server
13.1 (but past CC releases were also impacted)

  18. InDesign CS6 Hangs with customized plug-ins

    Hello,
Our company develops InDesign plug-ins as our product. Now we have a hanging problem when dealing with one InDesign document. The problem happens on both Windows and macOS.
According to the log collected on Mac, InDesign CS6 hangs at com.adobe.InDesign.Text. We cannot find a way to fix it so far. This problem stopped us to support our customers.

Could you please have a check why the hanging happens?

We made a simple document to reproduce the problem. The plug-ins inside "InDesign-CS6-Windows-Plugins" are used to make InDesign CS6 open the document without crash.
    The detail steps are:

  19. Window Management Not Apple/MacOS Standard

The window management across all adobe apps but most of all inDesign is buggy and not the correct apple standard. You can see its not inline with other apps and the native resizing tools by looking at the edges of the application and the rounded corners.

Window management tools do not work with inDesign as it resizes it self. Grabbing edges is extremely difficult and usability is bad. Traffic lights tend to move down to about 3/4 into the document or disappear all together.

  20. An Orginalposition einfügen
