1. Line Jumps by Half its Stroke Weight in InDesign CC (Version 18.3)

   In InDesign CC (Version 18.3), there is a persistent bug where a line jumps unexpectedly by half its stroke weight when attempting to change its length. This issue has been present for some time and occurs consistently. Enabling or disabling the scaling options in the settings does not have any effect on this behavior.

   Steps to Reproduce:
   1. Open InDesign CC (Version 18.3) on the affected system.
   2. Create a new document page or open an existing document.
   3. Draw a line with any length and stroke weight.

2. Blank EPUB Interactivity Panel in InDesign 16.3.2 on MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) running OS 10.15.7 Catalina.

   I have uninstalled and reinstalled InDesign. I've installed it again deleting all old prefs. I've restarted reinstalled software and dumped prefs on start up holding down Shift/Ctrl/ALT/Cmd keys, and 'Yes' clicked when asked if I want to delete preferences file. I am at my wits end with this issue.

   InDesign v19.5: Data Merge Problems with Diacritical

   I wanted to use "Data Merge" again after a while, but I found that it no longer works as it did in the previous version (v18). In the old version (v18), "Data Merge" worked correctly with diacritics, but in the current version (v19.5), it does not, and it's definitely not a font issue (I’ve tried all of them). The ".csv" file is exactly the same as the one used before, and when I use the old version, everything works as it should. The problem occurs with certain characters, such as "Š", "Č" and "Ř," which are used in my language, Czech. The CSV is exported from Excel (MS Office).

   I have not modified any preferences or settings in InDesign; everything is set to the default.

4. Wheel of death when placing images

   Lately, the spinning wheel has been appearing, especially when I place a photo via drag-and-drop, but also when I use the "Place" command from the menu. When the spinning wheel appears (and stays there), I can close or save the document, but the undo/redo functions no longer work, other functions work limited. After closing all documents, I have to force-quit the application; otherwise, InDesign won’t close. When I reopen it, sometimes it loads previously closed documents with recovery, even though I closed them myself. The "CPU Preview / Preflight Off" mode doesn’t work. I work with local documents (I don’t use CC Libraries, etc.).
   Windows 11 - InDesign 21.3.x64; this issue has been present since v21.0
   GeForce 4070TI GPU (up-to-date Studio Drivers), Intel motherboard platform.

5. type tool behaves as selection tool

   Hello guys, I'm experimenting this issue in which the Type tool is behaving as the selection tool.

   Instead of selecting text, by double-clicking or click and drag, it just moves the text frame around. Double click is not highlighting the text either.

6. Email Hyperlink Breaks

   In the Hyperlinks panel, Email hyperlinks that include a subject that includes an ampersand will change from an Email-type to a URL-type when you click OK. Status will then appear as a red dot in the Hyperlinks panel instead of an envelope. Opening it again from the Hyperlinks panel will show the subject gone and in a URL format.

   TO TEST - Highlight text in your document. Open the Hyperlinks Panel. Create a new hyperlink with the [+] button at the bottom of the panel, choose email as the type, type a valid email address, then enter a subject line that include an ampersand (&) . Click OK.

   THE FIX - Removing the ampersand from the subject line will keep the issue from occurring.

7. Black block

   Instead of text there are these black rectangles - only on parts of it. When I placed the text it was ok, but then it randomly switched to this. It still somehow detects text there but I cannot see it. I converted the doc to the previous Indesign version but the issue is still here.

8. Crop tool namings for german version are irritating

   A view months ago I was posting this issue to the community board already. :-) Thanks to Mr. Tyson for directing me to this page here:

   The assistance describes the differences between the three boxes named "crop", "trim" and "bleed".

   Well, in English there is no mistake if I'm going to import a PDF into my InDesign document, e.g. I'd like to display the final cutted format, than I choose for "Trim" or if I need to prepare a page for professional print shops than choosing "Bleed".

   But in the german edition the namings seem to be inconsequent. In comparison with the Acrobat Crop Tools and the InDesign Import Options
   "T r i m" should be the counterpart to "E n d f o r m a t" or "Z u s c h n i t t"
   while "A n s c h n i t t" seems to be the correct interpretation of "B l e e d".
   Accordingly, "C r o p" would be referred to the german word "B e s c h n i t t ".

   The best woud be, if you replace the german wording of the InDesign "import options" as seen on the following screenshot.

   And for example: an imported PDF with varius import options.

9. Fonts only showing in drop down, cannot type them directly in

   InDesign 18.5

   Issue:
   Highlight text
   Click on the font Window (mine is displayed on right)
   begin to type in installed or adobe font, font does not populate

   When I type in a font, I expect to be able to populate it

   Wen I try to finish typing the font in the searchbar, it doesn't let me type in the next letter and just gives me a different font. Some fonts don't show up or do once and never again, yet are in font dropdown. This includes both installed OTC and installed Adobe fonts.

10. Share for review won't update link with Indesign version 17.0.1

    I've tried quitting, signing out of Adobe, restarting my computer, exporting PDFs and more and nothing seems to solve this issue. I only have been experiencing this consistently with the latest version. I'm on a Mac with Big Sur version 11.5.2 as well and it's not limited to one document, it happens for the majority of my documents.

11. Be able to unable the save as on our videos in our online publishing

    I am currently doing online publishing but I have one big issue. All the video I put in my presentation can be downloaded by the viewer. Is it or will it be possible to not allow that as I don't people having access to these videos except from be able to view them on my presentation.

12. TIFF images as assets in CC Libraries are always placed as PNG images on the document page

    1. Affected: InDesign CC all versions that are working with CC Libraries.
       Tested with InDesign CC 2018.1 and InDesign CC 2019 version 14.0.2.324 on Windows 10. InDesign versions on Mac OS X are also reported.

    2. Steps to reproduce the issue:
       Do a new CC Library.
       Add TIFF images saved from PhotoShop CC 2019 to the new library.
       Two options how you can do this that I know of:
       A. Drag the files from your file system to the open and empty library.
       B. Use Adobe Bridge CC 2019 to drag files to the open library.

    3. Expected result:
       If I want to use an image TIFF asset in my layout and place it on the page from a CC Library the placed image should show up as TIFF image with all the right properties, like the right color space, original resolution etc.pp.

    4. Actual result:
       The placed TIFF is converted to PNG, color space is always RGB, regradless of the original. Always indicating transparency. Even if the original file stored in the CC Library has no transparency at all.

14. Importing swatches: The colors are not in the correct order

    (Adobe InDesign 2021 16.1)

    When I import color swatches from another InDesign doc, the order of the swatches are reversed within the folders in the swatch pallette.

    When I import color swatches from an ase-file, the tint colors are missing.

    Even though this is a minor issue, I really hope it can be fixed.

15. Printing doubled sided without computer settings being changed

    Mac computer using InDesign 2024 version 19.5.5 has select documents print double sided when single sided is preferred. Computer settings for single sided printing was check and was set for single sided. Printer was serviced to make sure it was not a driver issue and driver was up to date and printing correctly on other jobs.

16. Design disappears in workspace, only selections are visible

    This issue seems to happen out of nowhere. Sometimes when revisiting InDesign, sometimes when zooming in or out. My whole design disappears into the workspace, only showing the selections when I click them.

    The only fix for now is saving and restarting InDesign, but it's very inconvenient.

    I am using macOS Sonoma 14.1, and InDesign 18.5.1.

17. Cannot place EPS image in empty box

    InDesign 14.0.1.209
    Mac OSX 10.14.3

    Placing an EPS file generated from "Barcode" (by AppsForLife) does not work properly if the target box is empty. If box already contains a graphic, the file will place properly via "Place" or drag+drop.

    On a new image box or box where the existing image has been deleted, the following occurs (via Place or drag+drop):

    Image will seem to appear in the target box. Once mouse button is released, the imported image is no longer in the box and the pointer changes to a "placement selector" prompting to place the image in a new box.

    Working with the developer of the software that generates these EPS files seems to track the issue to a line in the EPS file. Removing the line that begins "%%HiResBoundingBox" in a text editor causes the EPS file to behave correctly.

    The developer has issued an update to their software that seems to fix this issue.

    Other in the Adobe discussion have tested the attached file. They have been able to repeat the problem on OS X 10.14 (Mojave) but not earlier MacOS or Windows installs.

    Although the issue seems to be corrected with the EPS software update, it was suggested I file a report here.

    I am unable to attach a sample file as .EPS is not permitted.

18. Bracket issues

    When copying a table from one indesign brochure to another new indesign document. The open and close brackets that were on the original table appears corrupted. The close bracket appears at the front of the word instead. Tried retyping it at the end of the word but keeps jumping to the front.

19. ePub synthetic spread export not including xml / html language tags

    2. When exporting a Fixed Layout EPUB with the <Enable Synthetic Spreads> option, the language tags are not exporting in the HTML, which is an issue for accessibility. The language tags ARE exported properly when the <Convert Spread to Landscape Page> option is chosen, so this clearly seems to be a glitch with this particular export option.

I would expect the following code to be at the top of each of the HTML files <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" lang="en" xml:lang="en" xmlns:epub="http://www.idpf.org/2007/ops">, and this at the top of the OPF file: <package xmlns="http://www.idpf.org/2007/opf" version="3.0" unique-identifier="bookid" prefix="ibooks: http://vocabulary.itunes.apple.com/rdf/ibooks/vocabulary-extensions-1.0/" xml:lang="en">

    4. However, the exported files have the following code, which misses the xml language tags:

    This is causing a LOT of manual work for my team and turning into a big time suck. It seems like something that could be a relatively easy fix on the development side... so we'd REALLY appreciate you prioritizing it! Especially with the recent EAA guidelines for ePub accessibility, this is a critical aspect of the ePub export.

    2. When exporting a Fixed Layout EPUB with the <Enable Synthetic Spreads> option, the language tags are not exporting in the HTML, which is an issue for accessibility. The language tags ARE exported properly when the <Convert Spread to Landscape Page> option is chosen, so this clearly seems to be a glitch with this particular export option.

20. Black Backgrounds When Copying PNG from Web to Indesign (Return of Bug)

    This is a recurring bug that was solved in a few past updates, but, it's back in InDesign V. 18.5.

    When you copy a transparent background PNG from Google Images (or any website) and paste it into InDesign, it will display a black box as the background.

    If you paste the same image into Photoshop, copy that, paste it into InDesign, it will not show the black background.

    This was working 100% flawlessly over the last year, but, is now broken in this new version on multiple Macs. Tried different browsers. Reset preferences, same issue.

    This was a bug that has come up multiple times over the years, and seemingly was solved for quite awhile, until now upon its return.
