1. Since 2020 update, InDesign won't correctly import and replace typekit fonts.

   When opening a file that uses a typekit font, Indesign attempts to "install" it (fonts that SHOULD already be there anyway, or were installed previously). The wheel spins indefinitely, and it never installs. My only workaround I've found is to attempt to find a download elsewhere on the web. Then it works fine. It seems to only be an issue with Indesign, and only since the 2020 update. Something similar happens with some non-adobe fonts, too. Says it's not installed, but it is.

2. leave User Workspaces ALONE

   Leave User Workspaces ALONE!! Updates should automatically grab the current workspaces and copy them in, STOP trying to shove three versions of "essentials" down our throats. Not all of us have admin access, so deleting after every update isnt an option. It also stops non-admin users from migrating manually. To say this is frustrating would be an understatement.

   "Essentials" is TRASH, but every **** update removes any custom ones I have (YES even if I choose migrate, it doesnt do anything so I stopped bothering) and force it into "Essentials". Just STOP. You DO NOT know our workspaces better than us. This shouldnt be difficult, but Adobe has been doing this for years, and now InDesign 2025 has THREE different Essentials? Thats missing the point entirely and then congratulating yourself for it.

3. Not able to work on more than one document in InDesign 2020 on Windows 10

   Folks,
   Please vote if you have the same issue:

   I can't work anymore on more than one packaged doc containing 'Document fonts' folder in each package in InDesign 15.1.1.
   Moving frames, selecting text in the frames or switching between two (blank) docs causes an unacceptable huge delay what makes efficient work impossible.

   Performance got worse and worse since 15.02 / 15.03 / 15.1 already. Removed ID completely, as well any plug-ins or font management software. Bug occurs on three independent Win10 machines using 15.1.1.
   I'm currently working on ID 15.01 which is the only version I can work in still fluently.

   Temporary solution:
   Renaming or moving one of the 'document fonts' folders enables fluent work on the fly, hiding control panel in ID too. As soon ID accesses fonts in the document fonts folder the issue occurs, no matter what font is used.
   Definitely located that the bug is related to this folder only.

   Please replicate on your end creating two new packaged files.

4. Reflowable EPUB3: "Page Navigation" export option adds a space inside hyphenated words at page breaks

   1. Version of InDesign: 19.4

   2. steps to reproduce

      • create a new InDesign file
      • add a text frame to the blank page
      • add enough text so some words are hyphenated at the page breaks for the next pages
      • export to epub3
      • enable "Page Navigation" on EPUB export

   3. Expected result
      Page navigation markers are added without interrupting the hyphenated words at the page breaks.

   4. Actual result

      When using the "Page Navigation" export option for reflowable EPUB exports, InDesign adds a <span> and </span> tag pair with a blank space character in the HTML export instead of simply dropping the soft hyphen that was present in the print layout.

      Result in the EPUBs XHTML:

      <p class="bodytext">Idel illandia suntusdae quoditint debitatissit quam quamus magnimus es quiaeper elor eper<span id="page2" role="doc-pagebreak" aria-label="2" epub:type="pagebreak"> </span>nat quo con re nimus?</p>

      Another example using English text (from the "Georgia" file in the EPUB3 samples project):

      In my file "georgia", the words "consists" and "headward" are both hyphenated by InDesign as "con-sists" and "head-ward" at the page breaks, but exported to EPUB as

      con<span id="page2" role="doc-pagebreak" aria-label="2" epub:type="pagebreak"> </span>sists

      and

      head<span id="page3" role="doc-pagebreak" aria-label="3" epub:type="pagebreak"> </span>ward</span>

      respectively, thus displaying as "con sists" and "head ward".

      I am confident that this is not an issue of readers / apps display the EPUB erroneously, as I tested my example files on a PC with Kindle Previewer 3.81, Adobe Digital Editions 4.5, Thorium 2.2.0, as well as on a Kindle Paperwhite via Send to Kindle, a tolino (popular brand of readers in Germany, both with Adobe RMSDK rendering engine and new Readium-based rendering engine), an iPad with Apple Books and a Pocketbook InkPad Color.

      The W3C recommendation for page break markers is not a pair of opening <span> and closing </span> tags, but a self-closing <span/> tag, e.g.

      <span id="page2" role="doc-pagebreak" aria-label="2" epub:type="pagebreak"/>

      which would look like this for the above examples:

      Personally, I'd think using a pair of <span> / </span> tags WITHOUT an additional space should work out, too, if you absolutely must use a tag pair for whatever reason.

      However, I would strongly urge you to change the implementation to conform to the W3C recommendation.

      Either way, the current behaviour creates errors on EPUB export which are not present in the indd source file - so please change this as soon as possible.

      How am I supposed to supply a sample file if I am neither allowed to upload indd, idml, epub or zip files‽

5. panels keep moving

   The tool panels keep changing position, flying out or closing in a seemingly random manner. Certainly their movement is counter productive to any given use.

   I've just updated to ID 2019 and my panel positions are all lost. This is after several month of wrestling with the demented behaviour Adobe has given them.

   In the 'old' days, one set up the panels how preferred and pretty much left them alone.

   Could Adobe please return to this functional panel behaviour and stop them flying out, moving about, or getting lost on each update?

   Having to click things open and close don each use is time consuming and wearisome. It completely interferes with any creative method - having to literally 'fight' the interface.

6. renumbering pages during optimization

   I combined single pdf pages into a new binder. Labeled page numbers, and some with prefix. Saved it out as a optimized file and the numbers are now relabeling themselves. Tends to happen when I have created a prefix in the page labels. Never happened before Adobe CC 2018.

   Ansich ist das ja eine gute Sache, aber warum unterscheiden sich die Kommentarfunktionen zu denen im Adobe Acrobat.
   wenn ich PDF Kommentare aus einen PDF importiere, kann ich die per Mausklick übernehmen. Bei der überprüfen Funktion geht das nicht.
   Bitte die Kommentarfunktionen aus Acrobat genau so auch im Share for Review übernehmen.

9. Menu item "Convert footnotes and endnotes" missing

   Although my software is up to date, the option "Convert footnotes to endnotes" is missing from my "Type" menu item (image). The interface is in portuguese, but you can see there are only four itens on the footnote/endnote area, the fifth ("Convert footnote to endnote") is really missing...
   I tried unistalling and installing InDesign again from Creative Cloud but it didn´t solve this issue. This menu item is also unavailable on Edit>Menus...
   System: Windows 10 / 64 bits

10. Error encountered while reading TIFF image

    Adobe Indesign 2023 (v18).
    When render TIFF images from Blender using the Deflate (ZIP) option.
    All other compression options gives images with black background and no transparency.
    Up to v17 Indesign 2022 these images imported just fine.
    When doing a resave in Photoshop with no changes, the images imports fine.

11. FontExplorer Error

    Hi -

    Everything's been working great for months, but after updating to InDesign 16.3.2 recently, I started getting the error message attached and am not sure why. It's also functioning fine in my other Adobe apps.

    "Could not start FontExplorer X Pro because it could not be found or the license file is missing"

    FEX 7.2.6 (build 20687)
    InDesign plugin 3.5.6
    InDesign 16.3.2
    macOS 10.15.7 (19H1323)

    I'm not entirely sure if it's an InDesign or FEX issue, but have reported the issue to Monotype as well.

    Symbol Font Character Set Alt Codes not working.
    Some Alt Codes Short Cuts not working in Indesign, but the same font is working fine in Pagemaker, Adobe CC Acrobat DC Pro, Coreldraw, Microsoft Word, and all other applications, but not working Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere Pro as well as Indesign CC.

13. ID - CMYK separation preview vs. RGB illustrations

    Hey there,

    1. every InDesign Version (my Version Adobe InDesign CC 2018 13.1)

    2. a) open new print CMYK document
       b) place a Ai object like .eps or .ai with RGB modus (with a black element – in RGB 0/0/0 – but in CMYK 88/79/65/93)
       c) now copy the object and convert the same object into CMYK modus and place them too
       d) start the CMYK separation preview in InDesign and disable the black color
       e) at the end only the CMYK object is separated and the RGB object is totally away

    3. I wish the RGB object would separated like the rectangle – with the same color – next to the GTIN.

    4. The RGB object doesn't separated like the CMYK object with the same color.

14. Converting pdf to an indesign doc removes all the hyphens

    Imported a PDF as an InDesign doc and it has removed all the hyphens. for example the word 'multi-disciplinary', has become 'multidisciplinary' - I'm having to do a find on the PDF doc and manually add them back in but wanted to let you @Adobe

15. Share for Review - Critical Scrolling Bug with Large Documents

    Indesign Version 17.0

    When scrolling in large documents (200-500 pages) the browser-window of Share for Review the screen hops between 3-5 different screens multiple times a second. This bug makes the feature basically unusable. Sometimes it snaps back (maybe after rendering correctly?), sometimes it just doen't.

    The bigger the document, the faster the error seems to occur. Working on my 200 page-document with my team is essentially impossible right now.

    Our team has this problem on Mac, Windows - and on Safari, Chrome and Firefox (didn't check other browsers yet). We tested this on 7 different devices, all crashed equally.

    Hi, I don't know if this is a bug with InDesign or Acrobat, but when exporting an Interactive PDF, the "Submit Form" button crashes InDesign. The button appears set up correctly. It's supposed to email the results of the form to an email address, but instead it crashes Adobe Acrobat..

17. Problems with punctuation when exporting Hebrew files to epub

    Using Indesign V.19.5 on a Mac OS Sequoia V15.0.1
    
    When exporting a Hebrew document the punctuations move to the beginning of the sentences. I am unable to upload this book to an online shop. Had been in touch with Adobe support in the past but the issue remains.

19. Workspace not loading on open in 2023

    So, today's thing that's broken is when I boot up indesign for the first time of the day all my panels and toolbars are missing. Selecting my workspace doesn't bring them back, I have to select a different workspace, then select mine to bring them back. Does anyone at adobe actually care about Indesign any more? This app has been riddled with bugs now for around 4 years - stuff that's been flagged up years ago still not fixed, like the graphics streaking across the page causing objects to disappear for example

20. Gradient background missing when export as PDF

    I just updated to the 2019 version of Adobe InDesign and was sent a file that was created with the same version. Some of the background was made using a gradient and disappears (becomes white) when I export to PDF. My colleague is able export and retain the gradient no problem, so it seems like it is a bug or setting that got changed. My InDesign expert colleagues tried basic troubleshooting and couldn't find the answer, so it doesn't seem to be obvious. Any ideas? Thanks!
