Running very slow
InDesign CC 2023: no matter what settings (I.e. how many times I change the display performance to fast or turn off a lot of features) there is still a 5-7 second delay on every single keystroke, every cursor movement, every selection, etc. etc. That is, if it doesn't just freeze altogether. My document is only 21 pages with minimal text and the images shouldn't be displayed at full resolution anyway, so there's no reason it should be this laggy. No other adobe program has this problem for me at the moment. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the program, that didn't work.…

Dialogbox "Fileinformation" nor correctly displayed
When opening the "Fileinformation" dialogbox , the box is displayed, but too big and can not be resized. When trying to moved it, it can suddenly disappear and Indesign can only be closed via Taskmanager.
This seems to be a bug existing since many years (since 2016 !!!) affecting HighDPI monitors and also being present in other Adobe CC apps:
https://helpx.adobe.com/de/illustrator/using/file-info-dialog.html
In my case it happened with latest Indesign (18.5...?), latest Win11 on a Lenovo notebook with a 15" HighDPI screen.
this makes it also imposible to read the "About Indesign
Wondering why Adobe is not able to…

Filenames and Thumbnails on the Home screen are on top of each other
Version of Adobe InDesign, InCopy or InDesign Server: 16.0
Steps to reproduce the issues: Go to Home Screen
Expected result: See recent files
Actual result: I see the recent files but I can't read the filenames properly because they are on top of each other. The thumbnails are not aligned as well. Please see attached screenshot.

Effects / blending mode
InDesign 16.4 x Windows 64: Cannot scroll the list of blending modes with arrow key(s) and preview the results in a selected box. I've always been able to do this in the past (InDesign CS 2, 4, 6). New laptop, new Adobe subscription. I can 'scroll,' but no preview. Window closes each time, so at least 30 clicks to re-open and select through the list.
2 votesHi everyone,
The behavior mentioned here has been there since InDesign CC (that came out more than 8 years ago in 2013).
Behavior in InDesign CS6 (and earlier) was different. Please confirm if you were seeing different behavior in any of the CC versions. Illustrator also behaves the same way.

Mp4 not work at "Place from URL" Option
I have place mp4 files from "Place from URL" option in the document and its place nicely when I have prepared epub and publish online then doc display empty page after discussion with adobe they told me that mp4 not compatible, so i have to convert video in FLV extension then it will work, which is impossible for me. MP4 is most useful extension and Adobe need to solve this and make mp4 compatible for it.
Keep in Mind when we place from "Place from URL" Not direct placing of MP4 file, "Place form URL" Option.
Thanks!

fontproblem – strange ligatures – invisible font
Hi there
In InDesign CC23 we have the problem that we sometimes have some issues with ligatures. We have the font Minion Pro activates in the Library. and somehow have the problem, that the ligatures appear to be a completely different character, see the screenshot.
the problem could be resolved by deleting the Minion Font from the application folder > Ressources > Required > Fonts. the Ligatures changed back to the correct character. Or i deactivate the minion regular in the finder. But i need the font for other apps as well, so i need to activate the regular font…5 votes -
Unusable actual InDesign CC 2019
Actually InDesign is not production ready. Every few seconds the beach ball spins. I found a workaround which is … well ok but not satisfying: As long as I work in the idml-file it works but as soon as I'm opening an indd file the program slows down extremely.
That can't be the solution! Why don't you see that?

InDesign responsiveness is very slow
All the adobe apps are working fine aside from InDesign. It keeps on crashing when I am working and when it is not, the response is so slow. Tried to re-install but did not really help at all.

JavaScript not work When mounting /Volumes/users
MacOS 環境で /Volumes/users が存在すると(サーバーに users でマウントすると)ユーザーが作成した javascript (.jsx ファイル)が動作しなくなります
/Users/(UserName)/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign/Version 15.0-J/ja_JP/Scripts/Scripts Panel/(ScriptName).jsx

[ID 17.2.20] Import xlsx spreadsheet: formatted numbers are truncated
MacOS 10.15.7 (19H1824) French localization
InDesign 17.2.0.20 (17200)
Excel 16.58 (16.58.22021501)When importing an Excel sheet as a table, every number is truncated before the first thousand separator (which is a space in French).
1 457 will be imported as 1
21 457 >> 21
(21 457) >> (21
-210 457 >> -210
621 457 >> 621
and so on…After a lot of tests on several configurations and discussions on the Adobe forum, I can say that the issue will only occur on French macOS systems, starting with Catalina. No matters what version of InDesign is used (15.0 thru…

InDesign doesn't export 16 bit grayscale or 48 bit color images
Tested on version: 20.2 x64
Dear Adobe Support Team,
When importing high bit-depth images—such as 16-bit grayscale or 48-bit/64-bit color (TIFF/PSD formats)—into Adobe InDesign, we’ve observed that even when disabling down-sampling and compression, the exported PDF converts these images to 8-bit grayscale or 8 bits per component for color (i.e., 24-bit RGB or 32-bit CMYK), rather than preserving the original bit depth.
While we understand that limitations may exist within the current Acrobat SDK, it is important to highlight that:
The Adobe PDF Library SDK (PDFL SDK) explicitly supports the creation and reading of 16-bit image objects in multiple color…

My Adobe Indesign updated to 2022, but my User Interface font is very small and I can't increase the size. The choice to increase UI size is greyed out (see attached screen shot). Any ideas on the issue?

Can't access free templates
If you create software, and have templates that are labeled free. There should be no reason why I need a adobe stock account to access FREE TEMPLATES!!
If it requires said license, it should say, REQUIRES ADOBE STOCK LICENCE
If you are going to offer a product and put a paywall subscription behind it, that you can't access. What is the point of paying for a product that you can't access FREE content or basic options to try out.
Who ever designed that, needs to re-word it.
As you can tell, not a happy client.
Thanks

InDesign and Acrobat accessibility conflict
Adobe InDesign version: 2019 CC
We are currently trying to establish the best workflow in creating fully accessible PDF's for screen readers and I believe we have come across a bug in the communication between InDesign and Acrobat.
Quick summary:
H1 elements on multiple lines read as separate elements unless assigned manually in Acrobat
The Structure and Article order does not transfer to the PDFTo explain the issue clearly I have numbered the images in the process order.
- Image: 1 InDesign Accessibility setup.png
- I have setup ‘paragraph styles’ and used the correct ‘Export Tagging’ tags for each style.

Indesign opens on wrong screen with multiple monitors (Mac OS)
This issue has been going on for years now. I recently updated to inDesign 2025, but it's still not solved for me:
Expected result: I've assigned InDesign to open on my external monitor, just like all my other Adobe apps.
Actual result: It completely ignores this, and just opens on my Macbook screen. The window resize buttons will be hidden behind my menu bar, so I have to alt+drag the window to make the buttons appear again. Then I can drag inDesign to my external monitor.
I've seen posts going back to 2019 about this issueI'm on Mac OS…

Publish Online documents have become very slow to load
Since the dashboard update, analytics 'since published' will NOT load.
We're also noticing publish online documents are very slow to load initially.
I'm presuming this is all server side issues at Adobe and would like to know if its being fixed.
Are you forcing browsers to cache online publications before loading?
These are both major issues that might force us to see alternative solutions if not fixed soon.
