Running very slow
InDesign CC 2023: no matter what settings (I.e. how many times I change the display performance to fast or turn off a lot of features) there is still a 5-7 second delay on every single keystroke, every cursor movement, every selection, etc. etc. That is, if it doesn't just freeze altogether. My document is only 21 pages with minimal text and the images shouldn't be displayed at full resolution anyway, so there's no reason it should be this laggy. No other adobe program has this problem for me at the moment. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the program, that didn't work. I tried to clear the cache, but the keyboard shortcut didn't do anything. No matter what I do it doesn't even get faster. It's genuinely unusable at this point.

100% agree, macmini 2018, typing is very laggy, scrolling is stuttery, and if you leave rulers on, there is a crazy flash every time you highlight text. its just a performance mess, barely usable

I hear you Maureen - this for me happened from the moment I installed inDesign v18 on iMac 27" (late 2020) 3.6GHz i9 10-core, 64GB RAM, AMD Radeon Pro 5700XT 16GB
It's not a machine issue, or macOS issue - it's just a bloatware issue with InDesign. More features keep getting added instead of fixing the issues and performance that matter.
I'v also tried cache clearing, using Onyx from titannium.fr to clear my mac's caches and application stores. I've tried uninstalling, re-installing, GPU/CPU preview. No difference. Spinning beachball on spacebar scrolling, entering text, scrolling page.
If you save your document as an inDesign Markup (idml) and reopen that, you get about a 10 minute window where performance returns almost to normal, before glugging back to treacle-town.
Fix it, Adobe.
